Does anyone have any rationale why bungie doesn't have rumble open for business regularly? I am such a liability in PvP I hate to play 6 v 6 til I get better and was looking to rumble.
I don't really play FFA, but what do you mean "open for business regulary"? I thought it was always a playlist option, but I generally just play Control and don't bother with the other lists.
I am 99% sure that the always open games are: control, skirmish, rumble and clash. Weekly Options are: salvage, combined arms and Iron banner. Are you navigating to the Crucible button on the bottom left and opening the selection screen that way?
This weekend it was on the left as the game type so I played some. But last week and weeks prior I swear when I went to the crucible mark circle on the bottom right it shows the icon but it doesnt allow play. Maybe I have to play the game of the day on the left to unlock it some days but pretty sure there are times its not able to play. I have 2 exotic bounties that require a lot of crucible, I will check out if I notice again and post that day.

Are you trying it on new characters? I seem to remember that Crucible - when first unlocked - kind of forced you to play in one playlist before the next list would unlock, but once you've played it should stay open.
It is my second person so I may not have been to the crucible with them. I will check it out tonight with all 3 people.

Yeah, Darth is right. You have to unlock the tiers on a per-character basis, so you may not be able to see them all on a second character yet. I forgot about that.
I still havent figured out crucible. Saterday night, I think I had one positive game out of 6. Last night I was going 1.5 or better every game. Maybe the people that play Saterday nights are more cold-blooded killers on average? I dont know, but I could not hang.
It is my second person so I may not have been to the crucible with them. I will check it out tonight with all 3 people.

I think it tries to match your party up with similarly skilled folks. If you're a stone cold killer, you'll pull some studs in. If you play with a party of people who are bad or almost never play, the system pulls the aggregate rank down. You probably ran into a party with half studs and half losers in it and got curbstomped by the studs.
Now, if only they had visible ranks so you could see, in game, why its matching you up with folks...
Eh. Not everyone's a trained killer. Usually, there's no problem with getting you into a 6 person crew to shoot some faces. Some folks will be good, and some will be bad.
