Reach Custom Challenge Guide

Halo Waypoint introduced a way to create custom challenges a few months ago. I posted this in the last forum, but since we are gaining new members, I feel it's a good thing to share. When you go Halo Waypoint from either the website or on your phone, you can find a tab that says "Create Custom Challenges" under the Challenges section. This is a very easy way to earn a LOT of experience. I've gotten a million experience from this so far. There are ones you can set for Campaign, Firefight, or Multiplayer. Campaign aren't worth much at all, so I don't recommend them. Firefight are good if you plan on playing a few rounds and can get you an extra couple thousand credits. The real benefit for these lies in Multiplayer. When I get ready to play Multiplayer, I always set up the same three challenges- one for wins, one for medals, and one for kills. You can't have more than one of the same goal type at a time. Kills and medals are always worth the same amount of credits, with wins being a lesser value, as they're easy to accumulate. You have to set a time limit on challenges, so I recommend using the fewest time, three hours. I haven't checked, but I'm pretty sure it's worth more for having a shorter time period. You want to set your challenges to be easily earned for what you plan on doing. If you're playing regular slayer, I suggest having the amount of kills and medals, as you'll probably earn them almost in tandem. Different playlists have different playstyles, however. When you play SWAT ot Grifball, its different. Every headshot in SWAT is a medal, and its easier to get double kills. Grifball is also different in that every single thing you do in the game is a medal; every kill is a melee, every bomb capture is a medal, and its very easy to get killing sprees (which almost always count as Hammer Sprees, too) and so forth. I suggest when playing these games to have more medals than kills for your goal. Don't worry about losing out on wasted time for your challenges. You can go back to Waypoint, and click Turn In on the challenge as soon as you hit your goal to save the challenge's progress. Don't hit Forfeit, as you'll have wasted your time and credits. After turning it in, you can make a new challenge in its place. When I play Grifball, I'll set up three challenges- one for 100 kills, 125 medals, and 5 wins. When these challenges mature, they're worth about 11,000 credits. Fortunately though, Grifball is a fast game type, and I usually hit these goals within a few games. When that happens, I go turn in my challenges and start brand new ones. This method turns a couple hours with friends that would normally yield only around 10,000 experience into a time that earns around 70,000. Challenges don't seem to count towards your daily credit limit. When you turn in your challenge, the credits will be awarded to you automatically when the time expires for the challenge. I'll edit this if needed, as its very hard to proofread on my phone. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Yes but only a small number. I was going to use them for the Over 40 but it can't handle that many.

I think that 2 or more people can have the same challenge going at the same time. It wouldn't be a bad idea to get a few volunteers from the Over 40 to invite friends to the challenges you would like to make Deep. That way you can invite 7 (I think that's how many you can invite) and the other 2 or 3 people could invite those that are left.

I've dabbled in the custom challenges when it first started, but not to many people would actually accomplish them. I thought for sure it was catching on when w0rm made on and invited me, but to no avail. Oh well. Hopefully it finally catches on. I think it's a neat way for us to challenge our friends.

Thank you for the sticky. Yes you can invite friends, but sometimes it can be a pain in the ass to accept invites for some reason.

You are welcome.

I like to sticky useful stuff for a few days to get coverage.

This forum is almost hopping. Stuff actually scrolls off the bottom.wink

Thanks for this post. It works like a charm.

Remember - If you are invited to a friends challenge. You must go into Waypoint to "Accept" it before going into Reach to complete it. - I learned this...sad
