project c.a.r.s

Hey guys, I know a few others are playing this so I thought we could discuss the game here! For those who are would u mind posting your online Gt here so I can add u to my friends list My Gt is Kurupt CDN Now for a tech question I just bought a new computer and iam a complete Noob at building but have basic computer skills. My plan is to upgrade the PSU to a corsair 1000w and run a second gpu in sli, problem is the card is a NVIDIA GTX 550 to which is a dual slot card when I look at the back it has 4 slot 2 of which are from the graphic card there's 1 available and 1 supplied by the tv tuner, is there a way to adjust and move the tv tuner or do I have to give it up to fit the 2nd card? The game plan over the next few months is a triple screen setup that's the need for the 2nd gpu HP h8-1141 Specs: i7 2600 3.4ghz Ram:10gb Gpu: GTX 550 ti HDD: 2.5tb PSU:460w Blue ray/tv tuner Windows 7 x64 4 expansion slots Any input would be greatly appreciated! Cheers

Not sure how you could add a second card without removing the tv tuner.  Perhaps you can upgrade to a single Nvidia 680, which will run triple screen on its own.  It also should do a good job for this game.

My GT is OldSlowFred on pCARS

I agree with Zero, a single slot Nividia 680 will run triple screen on its own and it sounds like it may do a reasonable (good ?) job at 5760x1080 with this game.

I have dual 570 GTX installed on ASRock Extreme 4 motherboard. There seemed to be really only one way to put two SLI cards in this system and it might have left one other slot semi usable. I think doing SLI requires some researching of the motherboard and cards you are going to use, along with the case and power supply... Nvidia SLI seems to use a solid connector which forces the two SLI cards to be spaced apart a certain amount, or at least that is what came with my setup. Can't recall for sure, but looking at the back of my PC it appears the two SLI cards have one empty slot btwn so altogether they are crossing 5 slots in the back. Not sure but AMD crossfire may be a bit more flexible here.

Also, I have the strong impression that a single Nvidia 680 (and likely a single one of the newest AMD cards) will generally (always?) outperform my SLI'd 570's.

That plus the lower power requirements these cards have make them very attractive.

At present I get a little over 30fps in pCARS running 5760x1080 using the default game quality settings (ie. far from maxed out).

Recent builds 'seem' to be a bit faster so there is likely some optimizations/improvements they will do to the game.

But I am not sure two 550's in SLI mode are ever going to be able to provide more than low-med graphics with this game at 5760x1080 res.

I totally agree with the stronger card like the nvidia 680...but at the moment after dropping quit a bit of cash on a new system, g27 wheel, surround sound and a senior membership another $500 is hard to swallow.....for the same price that will cover my 2 additional screens + gtx 550 ti and have cash left over.  I know the 550 is low mid range card but to be honest ive really had no issues and each build is getting faster...right now iam running everything on high and DHR graphics all turned on, motion blur off and shadows turned to low and iam getting between 70-85 fps @ 1080p 32 LG in dx11....i got some help from a guy on the forum for my settings and hes running the 560 in sli which is the cousin of the 550....he got a solid 90-100 fps @1080 maxed single screen and 60-80 fps triple screen on high which is more than smooth enough to run the game so iam hoping to get similar.  Iam not to concerned if i loose the tv tuner i dont use it to much, but i am a little concerned about having 2 cards so close to each other.

are all nvidia 500 series cards double slot, also would a new case possibly sovle the spacing problem and allow me to keep the tv tuner

does anyone know how to fix the keyboard settings every time i try to use the question mark this sign shows up É its driving me nuts lol

Ill add u to my friends list, i read in the meeting notes they started building the online multi player but will still be a while to get it up and going

cheers
