Prison of Elders - Arena
I would like to try out the Prison of Elders, but it's scary going alone...lol
I finished the new story missions last night, so I have the Prison unlocked, but haven't given it a try. The little bit I've seen of the Prison on Twitch looks fun.
Also, I would like to hear about tips from those of you that may have already ventured into the Prison.
Let me know if you are interested or just message me if you see me online.
Darth, it is a blast, don't be scared...
I found it to be harder than I expected (died a lot!), team coordination is critical. Choices of class/subclass and weapons matters too. Try to have weapons on hand with a good mix of elemental burns so you can switch between arc, solar, void damage depending on the round.
I'd be happy to run through it with you this evening, hope to get it unlocked on my warlock by tonight and looking to complete a level 32 on my Titan.
Cool. My weapon selection with burn modifiers is somewhat limited since I played very little of Crota's End and only a handful of runs through VoG. Main thing I'm really missing is an Arc primary (no Fatebringer).
I'd like to run through on 28 just to get a feel.
How long does this take? Do I need to set aside time like I'm planning a raid?
Sorry I missed you last night BLAM. I was just finishing up for the evening and running some bounties on my Titan to try and get him leveled-up when you messaged me.
I plan to be on this evening if anybody wants to play.
I need to jump into this as well.
I was lucky enough to succeed in my first attempt in MM. Had a Chest Key too. Got a Fusion Rifle I don't know what to do with it yet.
I can show you Deep, but I'll have to charge.
If you have a set of keys on your character, know that you'll automatically use them when you attempt to open the big chest in the basement. When opening the chests after a 28 level PoE run with a set of keys, you'll get an exotic gun and a new legendary gun (and some other trinkets). So, if the rewards are better when opening the chests after a 32, 34 or 35 run, don't have the keys on your character after a lvl 28 completion. I don't know if the rewards are better at higher difficulty levels... But the keys are automatically used...
Apparently, you can get the rewards multiple times each week - I'm assuming once per character. I've gotten rewards (exotic & legendary guns) a couple times so far on 28 when burning a key. Got a Gjallarhorn the first time and a The Last Word the second - plus scout/sniper rifles.
A couple of things I found helpful - before enemies start spawning, try to run around and destroy the traps around where you're going to. You don't have to get them all, just take out the obvious ones in the larger areas when you first enter the arena. Makes things easier. You can shoot them on the ground and then shoot the orb that pops up out of them before they explode.
That helps a lot. When things got hot and heavy I've accidentally tripped a trap and was blinded, slowed down and then died terribly.
Also, keep moving. Pay attention to where the enemy concentrations are and try to circle around that. Stick together, but not so close so that you'll all get killed at the same time.
When the objectives pop up, (like disarming the bombs) one person make them a priority, the other two focus on cover fire and clearing out enemies. If you're with friends, maybe designate someone to handle the objective.
KRULL, Cha0s QC and myself completed level 32. It was difficult.
Nobody had a key but someone got a nice automatic Scout Rifle.
We also got the gauntlets that bring us to lvl 33.
Looking to do that today.
I'm up for this as well. NoMo Deeks carried me through this, and it was pretty hard.
I had my chest key and was severly penalized for using it. I got the Queen's hand gun again, like from lvl 28. I want my key back. Shit!
What a pain that was!! However, went back thru level 28 little while ago and it was a breeze
I did a run through 28 and 32 prison and it was interesting. I now have my warlock up to level 33 if anybody is brave/crazy enough to want to try 34. I may do a 28 or 32 again now that I have 3 more treasure keys. I hate to think how bad 34 will be after the jump in difficulty from 28 to 32.
Ran it twice on Saturday. First was level 28 with 2 random people, I died once, had a 117 KD ratio. Tried level 32 and got thrown into a game by my self. Made it to round 3 with only 1 death. Couldn't make it past on my own, had Biznass jump in and we completed it and stage 4, could not kill the Cabal boss, even with a 3rd guy. Didn't have a whole lot of time to finish it though.
The key to the Cabal boss is that his shields rotate when they recharge. Kill all of the mob while avoiding the boss. Then when it is just the boss, have at least one guy with the right heavy to take his shields down (he starts solar, so gally or whatever solar rocket you have). Once his shields are down, pound him to keep them down. If they go back up they will rotate to a new element and a new mob will appear, so rinse and repeat with the right element as necessary. (A primary solar is useful for the annoying Major Phalanxes that can take a pounding).
This is good info. I didn't know you could actually whittle down the adds as it seemed like a constant stream. However, we were mainly just focusing on the boss. I'll try this next time!
We attempted/failed a 34 with 3 blind blessing bubble lvl 33 Titans. Unfortunately, Phalanxes run through blind bubbles swinging. Wave energy from Psions passes right through bubbles.
Watched a couple vids of players completing the 34. In one, they had 3 blessing bubble Titans, but stayed moving a lot more than we did. They also used a solar primary (VoC) for the Cabal. and an arc primary (Fang) for the Hive. Color coded shotguns for secondaries. The Gjallarhorn was universal. In the second vid, a Hunter soloed the 34 lvl Cabal by using invis and blade dancer.
We'll be going at it again...
Advice... stay together when each round begins. If you have one player looking at his inventory (swapping guns or making ammo in the central chamber) and the other two leave him and go out onto the map, the inventory looker will get teleported across the map into the arms of the enemy - if he's not with you. Likewise, there are places on the map where you'll get teleported if you try hiding - then you're teleported right into the arms of the enemy. Bungie did their best to remove safe places - like in the Valus strike. Find what you think is a safe place, and it's likely a teleport zone if you back up against a wall.
Did lvl 32 last night with 2 Titans and a Hunter. Once we figured out the strategy of staying in the back left corner and using blessing of light and jumping through it when he burns the ground we took him down pretty fast.
I should be around tonight and would like to run PoE 32 for the armor core. I may be working on leveling my Titan who's at 31 right now, but will switch to my 33 Warlock for the PoE.
Please message me if you see me on and want to give it a try.
I was hoping to do this with my Warlock or Hunter tonight (both are 32.5), and will be on around 9 eastern if you want to give it a go. Did it yesterday, the boss was tough but doable.
I'm down to run it as many times as I can. Keys or not. I think you are guaranteed an armor core on 32 once a week. Just hit me up.
And I can always grind for more keys later.
This weeks 34 is easy. Ran it last night with 2 randoms, didn't' whip once. We had 2 Titans for the end boss which made it easy to hide in the back and to be protected. We still got slowed, but didn't get poisoned.
