My Review which is my opinion which is a likeness of the game that is Forza
Okay so to start off with I think the console sitting on the shelf looks sexy. It just fits the entertaintment system so much better in regards to looks. Got home and had to do the initial patch for the system which went pretty quick. I just sat at the computer entering all my pre-order reward codes and such and by the time I got done the xbox was ready.
The home screen is different but familiar. Overall it is easy to navigate and find what your looking for.
So you put the Forza disc in and there is an update. Around 6gb if I remember right, so I click for it to start and the little bar comes up on the Forza icon showing that its installing. Holy crap I thought I might as well go to bed this is going to take forever. A few minutes later I get this message at the bottom saying that Forza is ready for play. Cool it buffers a bit and lets you play while it installs.
So I get started and like F4 you have to do a race that shows you the game before you can play the game. Really just let me play the damn thing because as you will see there is a tutorial you have to go through anyways. The visuals are pure awesome. When you start noticing the little things though thats when the improvements really stand out. Like the reflection of your drivers hands or the dashboard on the windshield depending on where the sun is. They don't reflect all the time, just when the light hits them right.
Second the triggers. At first I was kinda thinking they were a bit of a gimmick. Then I stopped focusing on them and just playing the game. Do not judge them during the first race as you cannot change any of the assist. For me once I got to the tutorial and was able to change the assist thats when they really came into play. I noticed that I started responding to them in my driving. Press the LT for brakes, they start to vibrate, I would release a little bit and come out of the slide. RT for throttle out of a turn, they start to vibrate I would release pressure to stop the wheel spin.
Damage, okay this one got me smiling. I adjusted my assist to simulate damage. During one of the races I hit a car and got a message that I had damaged the front right suspension and brakes. On the next turn as I applied brakes my car pulled hard to the left causing me to slide off the track. So I started experimenting. Suspension damage will cause your car to not take turns well. Oh and I also cracked my windshield, that actually made me smile as my car rolled down the track.
Tutorial, this was kind of upsetting for the same reason that GTA Online pissed me off. If your going to make a tutorial say its a fucking tutorial and that you have to finish it. After you complete the welcome to Forza race you pick a car and then a series. What it doesn't tell you is that you have to finish that series before you can play the game. I think it is like five races but you have no way to exit them, you just race and then go straight to the next race. Once you get passed the tutorial though you have access to all the menues. It puts you in Autovista initially and just press B and you are at the main menu that is easy to navigate.
Painting, okay I only messed with this for a few minutes since I was starting to pass out. One thing I know several people have wondered is: YES YOU CAN PAINT WHEELS WHITE!!!!!! and it looks sweet. It was the first thing I tried and worked without a problem. I am going to mess around some more with this today. Additionally when you are playing single player the AI no longer drives just plain looking cars. They actually use paints from the new market/menu/suggestion/whatever the hell they are calling it. Pretty nice to look over and see a car with a kickass paint on it.
Free Play, they made some changes here. If you don't own the car but want to try it out you can rent it in free play. You get no xp for racing it but you can atleast try it out. I did this with the '76 Ferrari F1 car at Spa. Other than that change its the same as before, you pick the track, number of drivatars and such.
I hope this is somewhat usefull. Like I said I didn't sit down to make a list of pros and cons. I just sat my ass down and played. So for me I am enjoying it. I think the car selection I have seen so far is pretty nice. I do hope they do some more tracks later but for now I will be busy with the series that are in. I will say that I am for sure going to be ordering a wheel now since I have grown so use to using one. The pad is very good, but I just enjoy using a wheel.
My FM5 LE got delivered this morning.
Yup - got frustrated with that 5 race intro as well; tried the sim damage like you and ended up with a car that couldn't go anywhere so that race got restarted a couple of times.
Found out afterwards the controller defaults to 25 inside deadzone for steering - no wonder I couldn't turn, and when it eventually happened I fishtailed down the straights for a while. My drivatar must have got really tired arms driving this afternoon.
I ran this with the Xbox disconnected, so my poor drivatar hasn't made it's way into cyperspace yet but I'm feeling bad for anyone who eventually get's it in one of their races - my apologies in advance

Graphcs are definitely great - Bathurst and Yas Marin are going to be fun to race on.
Yas Marina! That track has grown on me big time. I am not a big fan of modern tracks but this one is great!
