A poster on NeoGAF claimed he was a member of the media and played in those game videos. Said he is not good at Halo. So these were not testers and not test sessions.
This is certainly evident in the videos. What I don't get is why 343 is allowing videos of noobs running around their maps with no real gameplay to be shown. At the VERY least, 343 should give us some play from their testers.
Then again, the person playing was sprinting around sticking people and trying to Boltshot everybody in sight, so maybe these videos will appeal to the "masses".
I kinda wish I hadn't bought the maps at launch and waited. But no, silly me had faith in 343 that they wouldn't just shit out obviously untested and horrible maps. I'll download em cause I already bought em, but I am not happy.

Me too. Bought the pack thinking we'd get some great maps that were worth it. So far underwhelmed and regretting the purchase. We'll see what this pack brings once it is out I guess
I think someones grandma is playtesting for 343. Why would you have someone who doesn't even play the game playtest for you. Since everytime I feel positive about something about Halo4 it turns to shit this time I will be negative and say these maps will make babies cry.
Saddest thing is the best maps that have come out on Halo 4 have all been done in Forge by fans.
Thats because most Forge players create a map and playtest the hell out of it. They play the map, then watch videos and change the map accordingly depending on how the gameplay goes so it's balanced and doesn't have bullshit camping corners and stuff like that. 343 just slaps shit together and pats each other on the back.

Really? 343 doesn't playtest their maps extensively? How does a game developer get away with that? That is so unprofessional!
Can we just change the name of the website to "2OLD2PLAYbutNOT2OLD2HATEandCRYLIKEBABIES?" If you (meaning all Negative Nancy Boys) don't like the game stop playing! OR learn how to program and make your own game that you love.
Seriously, do you (again all Debbie Downers) tolerate this kind of whining and pissing and moaning from your kids? Its just re-goddamn-diculous.

It does shed a light though. People have to start lightening up a little bit. The meta discussions are starting to get out of hand. I'm not sure what to do about it. I'm definitely on the positive side of the fence and seeing negativity feeding negativity I get upset. I do blame 343i for some of this. People used to post more rendered clips and pictures from a nights fun. A lot of creativity is gone from the run of the mill fan.

High Road vs. Low Road?
Let's see, for the sake of DEEP and the others, I'll take the high road. You're welcome. SWIDT?
Lame mom jokes aside, those of us that actually play MM every day might have a little more insight into how the game is balanced. Encountering the ramdon crap people are allowed to get away with because of how the game is "balanced" can lead to frustrating experiences. Frustrating experiences lead to negativity and unfortunately negativity tends to spread like wildfire.
I've scored my fair share of cheap kills with the Boltshot and I've been robbed of kills because of this weapon. Play more MM against people that know how to really use the weapon and you'll see.
I enjoy the game and have fun playing the game with friends. I want nothing more than for the Halo population to thrive.

Maybe the problem is Creative Affinity?
I agree. Even the maps they made for Reach sucked. They look pretty, but they make no sense in the layout.

Even Cold Fusion in Halo 3.
Cold Fusion? Fusion? Leave your Halo card at the door and leave. Fusion.... *shakes head*

Based on Chill Out, was called Cold Storage.
Think I played three games on that map, I'm surprised I got the "Cold" part right.
I think the biggest problem is fiesta slayer is runing the map layouts. They're not designed with rockets being here or sniper there because nobody fights over weapons. So now they're thinking in terms of CoD with people just running around the map with shotguns so it's all narrow hallways and corners
Man, you guys have been babied for way too long. I have no love for Certain Affinity and think most of their stuff is pretty bad, but determining these maps will be bad based on video of a 3 year old running around on them isn't realy fair.

Bang on.
Cynicism is easy and has no commitment. That's why so many people do it.
That being said, buying sight unseen is often not a very good life choice to make. As a fan of the series, it was a risk I was willing to take and was less expensive than the wait and see approach. I certainly would have fewer options for playtime without the maps. What else would we do? Buy Black Ops and gamble money on its maps? The answer is simple. You buy all of the maps and make the best time of it as you can or move on.
I am guessing two of Majestic will go down as being amongst the best competitive Halo maps ever with the third being a wild card. None of this group of three will likely be of much use to the Over 50 group since we often play with 16 players. I still like what I see in these maps but they will be mostly what I call gathering/warmup maps.
I'll probably get around to making variants of the the existing BTB maps. Nothing like Hog Wars on a map like Wreckage. We just haven't had the need for it yet.
Does anybody happen to know of another company making the next Halo-like game? Is there anything quite like it right now? Nope. So we work with what we have. Simple.

I did the same thing too. At the time it was the better deal. A gamble albeit. I feel I lost a bit. For those that like large maps with lots of vehicles, H4 is great. Those that prefer smaller, fast, dynamic gameplay are being left behind.

I'm thinking you will be pleased with Majestic (total guess). If nothing else, it's two small and one medium. It could help you keep your hand in the game.

That's a bold move Cotton, let's see how it plays out.
If recent history has told us anything, it's to expect the worst and hope for the best when it comes to maps. Until that is changed, I have no reason, none, to have any slightest of inkling that I'm going to enjoy what is put out and approved by 343i, certain affinity, or anyone associated with Halo.
And you are right, Halo pretty much is all I have, but it doesn't mean I have to accept everything they push out and fall down at their feet thanking them for a job well down. It's great you have all this positivity directed their way, but I just can't gve it to them anymore.

Certainly, you don't have to accept everything. I don't. I do recommend people not get on the rain train and call stuff down that really needs time and effort playing on it before making a final judgment. I'm not saying you are doing that by the way. It's quite common in the Halo community, here and elsewhere, to just be incessantly negative. What a horrible way to spend your gaming interest.
I've really had my disappointments this time around and my lip has been dragging but it's either perk up and get back into the game or just move on to better territories. I can honestly say that if Halo was no longer my game, I wouldn't stick around to talk about it. It's just not a fun thing to do.

The pom pons seem to never get heavy for him. I sure as hell hope that two of these three maps get put in that rarified Lockout-The Pit-Midship category, but the track record certainly doesn't indicate it.

I don't think anyone is saying you should kiss their feet. I'm sure the sentiment is that the map pack costs a movie ticket price which won't be missed. Do you only go to movies that you are guaranteed will be Oscar winners? No. You pay your small amount of money and hope for the best. If you like Halo, you should just buy them so everyone you're playing with has more variety and you're not spoiling the party. If you're hard up enough that buying a pack is even a question for you financially, then maybe it's time for a new hobby.
You are definitely entitled to your opinion on the maps. But to post on a Halo board about the game you obviously enjoy and debating whether the maps should be bought is just silly. You're already all-in since you are here.

Thank god some people know how to have fun on these maps. Old people rock! Proved it again tonight. :)
Fanboys learn a valuable lesson: when the franchise gets taken over by noobs, don't pay for map packs, sight unseen.
