Looking for a good steering wheel for Forza

I have been searching the forums here and have yet to find any posts regarding a wheel I am looking at, it's the EX2 by Hori. It is a officialy licenced xbox product but for all I know it could be crap.  If someone has this wheel I'd love to hear what you think of it.

I used to have a MS wheel and liked it but no longer have it and am finding it very difficult to find an affordable one. I remember  them being $99 new but used ones are going for more than that now.  I have contacted many stores (because I would prefer a new wheel over a used one) but it seems as though the MS wheel is no longer available.  Any suggestions, BTW I'd like to keep it under $150 if possible.

Never heard of the wheel. Do you have a link of what your looking at? Not a whole lot of choices for wheels for the xbox. Fanatec makes a wheel that is xbox, pc, ps3 compatible, but for the wheel and pedal setup it will cost more than 150.

Here's the link

My gut feeling is I should just keep looking for a  MS wheel but I am just curious to see if anyone had tried this one or if there is a reasonably priced alternative to the MS wheel that people prefer.

Yea that looks pretty horrible imo, it has just rumble no real ffb like the ms wheel or other wheels. I wouldn't waste any money buying that one tho.

You wouldn't happen to live anywhere near Atlanta would you?  I have a MS wheel I'd be willing to sell for $60 but shipping would be pretty expensive if I have to ship it.

I know you want to spend $150 or less, but with the exception of the M$ wheel, which is hard to find, you are going to have a tough time getting a decent wheel for under $150.  If I were you, I would give some thought to getting a Fanatec CSR wheel with CSR pedals, which you can get from www.fanatec.com for about $270, including shipping.  I am a proud owner of a CSR wheel, and IMO, its the best wheel deal in sim racing right now.  It works for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

My two cents, take em or leave em...

I picked up a  used MS wheel (that looks like it has been taken care of) on Kijiji for $85 tonight.

Thanks for all the info guys!

Glad that you got a wheel for the price you wanted. I'll second the Fanatec recommendation though. I've had my 911 Turbo S for two years now and no issues. Kept my 360 wireless wheel around in case I would need it, but its been sitting since I upgraded!

If anyone else is looking for a budget wheel (sub $100) let me know! My 360 wireless wheel is in mint condition. I bought it new from Best Buy in early 2007 (in anticipation of Forza 2 launch). Didnt use it much as I did not have a comfortable seating arrangement at the time. Maybe a handful of 30-minute sessions. I'll include all cables and original box which has the Forza 2 logo on it. $85 US + shipping and its yours :)

I will consider trading for a decent PCI-e 2.0 x16 video card with 1GB memory.

Tempted Mr. Paradox, but it would be a backup to my current MS Wheel I bought right after Forza 3 came out. It's a good wheel.  It should go to someone who'll use it and enjoy it.

After using the CSR Elite Wheel at the Long Beach Grand Prix, I've been putting some thought into upgrading with some of my tax refund.

Current setup is a MS Wireless Wheel and Pedals on a Speedblack wheel stand...

I use a pair of hardwired Turtlebeach headsets that allows me to hear the game and chat with players through the same headset.
Will I be able to do that with the CSR or Elite wheel or do I need to jury rig something up? (I've downloaded the manuals. I think I've got this one figured out.)

I know I'd need the Clubsport table clamp if I get the Elite.  Is the CSR's clamp sturdy enough or should I get the optional table clamp for it as well?

I did some comparison pricing.

If I go with the CSR XL package and table clamp, I'm looking at around $410 before taxes and S&H.

If I splurge for the Elite, the cost jumps up between $670-$800 depending on what accessories I get.

I liked the CSR Elite Wheel but is it really worth the extra dough considering the deal Fanatec is offering on the CSR XL Wheel/Pedal combo?

Side note. I'm still gaming in SD on a 27" Daewoo.

Not my actual tv set.  Just a googled image of one.

Maybe I'll go the CSR route and get a semi decent HD flatscreen.

Hmmmmmmm.

Dude that SDTV has got to go! Your eyes will thank you, trust me! Doesnt have to be a large display either. I chose a 23" HP LCD that had both HDMI and VGA inputs, and it was on sale at the time. While the CSR wheels are awesome, got to have the fundamentals first! At least youre not using a controller!

I would get yourself an HDTV first, and then figure out what you have left.  If you can still afford the CSR Elite and either CSR Elite or Clubsport pedals, go that route.  But, if thats too pricey, go with the CSR wheel instead.  I have both the CSR and the Elite, and they are both excellent wheels.  The CSR is kind of like a good quality Honda Accord, and the Elite is a Mercedes.

Either way, make sure you get decent pedals.
