King's Fall Raid, Fri, Dec 4
Sign up here for the King's Fall (normal) raid on Friday, Dec 4 at 9pm Eastern/6pm Pacific. To participate, you should have a light level above 290 (we have been typically getting to the Sisters or Oryx these days, and my guess is that you want to be in the 290s to be reasonably comfortable in those demanding fights) and a good sniper rifle (the 1000 Yard Stare from the vanguard vendor works very well). If you are one of the first five posters, we will be counting on you next Friday. If you need to change plans, we understand, but post here again as soon as possible so we can find a replacement. If there are already five participants, please consider signing up as an alternate. Stuff happens, even at the last minute.
I should be there.
In.
In it to win it
I'm in!
Cool beans, that's five plus me is six! Anyone else interested, please consider signing up as an alternate below!
Had a little extra free time on the holiday weekend, and some friends helped me get the "cool kids" raid gear (Touch of Malice, plus leveling materials for my mothballed Black Spindle). Looking forward to seeing how they perform on Friday!
Figured out why I didn't get any drops last week. I had already run the raid past the sisters on Wednesday afternoon. Duh! Have to remember to switch characters next time. Btw, saw something that recommended running hard mode to or thru the sisters for the goodies -- supposedly not much more difficult than normal. Don't know about that since I have never tried HM.
Hard mode isn't too bad up to Oryx, which is where light levels really matter. No mid-way checkpoint on the ship jump puzzle and a few extra things to consider on the boss battles. If anyone wants to give HM raid a run for loot let me know.
We can try HM if there is a consensus. I can tell you where we would struggle. The Warpriest door. Yellow bar knights spawn at the end in hard mode. But if everyone has a decent heavy and uses it well, we could probably get by.
Anyhow, if you have an opinion (normal mode and get further but same loot versus hard mode and get less far but higher light level loot), please express yourself!
Count me in as an alternate! I've never run a raid before, but I'd love to try it :)
XBone Gamertag: Vampyre Slayer
Probably normal mode for now would be best, especially if we have those new to the raid playing.
See my separate thread on the Warpriest Challenge this week. If we can complete the challenge, my information is that we will each get a minimum of a 310 artifact. My guess is that this is an upgrade for most of us. Worst case, we can just kill the Warpriest any old way and just get on with the raid. Thoughts?
Looks like I was slow on the draw so put me down as an alternate.
Alternate.
No way are we ready to run hard mode, our group as a whole has not even got close to killing Oryx. One of the biggest difference with hard mode raids is that you can't be revived.
I can convince one of my friends to join the raid to round out a second party if there's enough people. He's never done a raid either. We're both 295 light.
For this Friday (tomorrow), I am expecting SoulTerror, OldnAchy, BKVic, ver7igo, and bryjoe. Our alternates (provided they don't start up a second group) are Miatagirl77, DarthTabasco, and Duke12. We'll run normal mode with the main objective being to complete the Warpriest Challenge. If it goes smoothly, we'll try to push toward the end of the raid after. Most likely, the Challenge will be just that. But it will be worth the time to get those nice drops!
Edit: typos
Sounds good. Actually ran HM thru the WarPriest door last night with my second character (level 300). That is going to take some repetition to get successful at. We were so worn out getting thru the door that we only had energy for several runs at the WarPriest. Other than the overall experience from the run (damn those yellow bar Knights in the relay race) I actually was successful in using the aura -- counting stacks, taking out adds, etc. Never got the priest but the experience was invaluable. Now if I can only jump...
It's not the jumping, it's the landing :p
Challenge accepted!
We have 4 people for an alternate group.... if 2 more would like to join, we can definitely set one up!
ver7igo and bryjoe walked myself and my friend through the first 2 levels last night (normal mode), so it shouldn't take too long to get thorough those (except maybe the jumping for me LOL).
SoulTerror, OldnAchy, BKVic, ver7igo, bryjoe, and myself ran this week. We completed the Warpriest Challenge, and most of us gained light thanks to the special reward drops. Ra Darkman graciously substituted for BKVic when his house lost power shortly afterward. We then went on to finish the Sisters and do several Oryx runs, getting to the artillery phase a couple of times. Quite possibly our best performance to date. If we continue like this, Oryx will fall some Friday soon!
Maybe one of your neighbors overdid it with the Christmas lights...
Also, thanks to Miatagirl77, DarthTabasco, and Duke12 for signing up as alternates! We did try to contact you when BKVic had to drop, but had no luck (it was long after our start time, so we knew we'd have to be lucky to catch you).
So sorry I missed it! I think I'm out for most fridays going forward!
But I'd really love to get the Warpriest challenge done. I have a save right before opening his door. Anybody willing to help me knock out those two steps Sunday night (6 Dec)?
I can probably help, as long as it's not too late.
If I am on I can help.
