Kill-Cams - Vent your Rage here.

Kills-Cams are in Halo 4. Raging won't change anything about that from this site but maybe you can warm up your discussion for another site.

Post for or against.

My opinion.

I do not think they were required for a Halo style game but, if it is enough to bring people away from COD games then I believe it isn't all bad.

Meh.  I don't care one way or another.  They'll probably be playlist-specific anyways.  Assuming they aren't?  Still meh.

I agree. The more time spent watching the kill cam the less time you have to help your teamates. I never watched it in COD either.

So why was it added then do you think?  What reason does 343 have to add it?  What does it add to gameplay that wasn't already available?

Because people that buy video games, but aren't your traditional Halo players, have money to buy those games. 343 wants that money, but they also don't want to alienate folks, hence, why I'm relatively sure it's playlist-dependent.  They (if memory serves me right) took the tracers off the sniper rounds, possibly to have them for the binary rifle (which they do, in essence, with the laser sight).  Makes no sense to get rid of those tracers for sniper games and then betray their position with killcams.

Personally, I have no other reason to believe it was anything other than to try and make COD players more comfortable in Halo.

I see COD related comments pretty much stating that every day.

To be more like COD and so people can rage about dying and not being hit by anything. Rage about Host is better IMO.

So long as the lag compensation is nonexistant/doesn't suck, it should be fine.  Nothing like being killed around a corner in Call Of Duty, then seeing on the killcam that you were completely exposed.

Or seeing yourself shoot a guy, then you die, and in killcam you just stood there not firing.  Seriously screw COD.  Keep Halo seafood free.

I would gladly accept a smaller Halo population than a larger one with an influx of COD fans.

I love final kill cam. I skip kill cams in CoD so I will do the same in Halo4. I like that they added it.

We have theater.  If I wanted to learn how an opponent beat me, I will go back after the game and watch.  Why was this added to Halo?  I mean really, what do you think 343's reasoning was to add this feature?  My guess - to make the game more familiar to the COD crowd.  We also have a control scheme just for them as well.

I have no problem with a final kill cam.  This won't affect the outcome of the game, as it is showing how the game ended.

Also, any word on join-in-progress for matchmade games?   I haven't heard much on that in a while, and while I'm unhappy with COD features coming into Halo, I may as well bring that one up too.

Same thing.  I'd bet that it's pretty playlist -specific.

My sentiments exactly.  You already have enough tools at your disposal to determine who killed you and where from:

Radar

Shot indicators (screen lights up in the direction from which you are being shot)

Some guns/vehicles have bullet contrails

Red & Blue enemies stick out in most backdrops

After death you can rotate your camera

After death you can cycle through teammates 3rd person perspective

Sound (if you own surround sound speakers or headset)

If you still cannot determine where you were killed from, the enemy deserves to keep his location a mystery.

If I can add another: teamwork and communication.

Is there really this much rage about killcams?  I haven't noticed it and I really haven't been looking for it either.  What is the rage for it like?  Is it on par with the rage for Armor Abilities or what?

Just started popping up since it became apparent in these recent videos. HBO, NeoGAF, Waypoint and video comments.

It's the latest thing to bitch about. Not as big a deal as some things but as each issue gets swept aside, a new one crops up.

I decided to create a topic to concentrate the venting for anyone who cares or cares to not care.

Less than 6 weeks to go.

I don't mind it.

"Assuming" you can skip the kill cam and get back in the actions if you want. How many times have we all said, I know I just put 8 shots in that dude and he did not die, I saw his shields pop and I know I hit him in the head, etc. etc.

Well now you do not have back out of your party, traverse the menu's to dl the game to viewed later, or fast forward to see that kill that was at almost the end of the game after downloading it to view it.

For all we know it is taking as long or a little longer then then normal 5 seconds to respawn. You can watch the video as you respawn.

For me it is not knowing who killed you, I just want to know if my shots where landing like I thought they were or if is the connection to the host that is causing the difference in being killed or killing.

Now my bigger question is this...What was left out/sacraficied/ommitted to make room for this feature. We will never really know that, but if an extra map or two were cut due to the resources needed for this (during production, time invested, ect.) then yeah, screw the kill cam. I want more maps.

Well if you felt like you were hitting a guy in the head, or that he took a lot of shots without dying, and he kills you... well then all you'd see in the kill cam is the guy killing you while being shot at. It'd still require an actual theater look at the action to tell from outside his perspective.

I don't care about kill cams either way, but if they deter some timmies from camping, I fully support them. I'd only be angry about them when I see myself fall off a map in one.

I'm not too concerned with kill cams, but I'm not sure I really see the point - especially in a Halo game. I would say that for the most part, we usually have a pretty good idea how we died. My most questionable deaths are from snipers - like "where did I get sniped from?".

One of the recent videos - I believe it was first noticed by me in a game of Dominion on Logbow - and the 343 employee being interviewed during the gameplay basically stated it was to give the player (especially new players) a better idea of how they died.

I can see a benefit, to a certain extent, to new and experienced players so we can see if we were outplayed or if it was because of in-game shenanigans.

Overall, this is of very little concern to me.

I dont mind one bit, I mean its not like they are forcing you to watch the thing. If you want to check it out then fine, if not just move on. It might be a pretty usefull tool in some games.

One crazy idea.

Kill-cams potentially help keep some players engaged enough to not quit. Short attention spans and quick to quit attitudes seem to be rampant these days amongst the gaming youth.

You know what sucks is that now instead of a player getting the chance to watch you T-bag them now it goes to killcam. What bullshit! I want my tea-bag back. Seriously they took out the tea-bag. FUCK.
