How'd everything perform last night? Any new issues?

Everything was okay until approx 10 Eastern. Starting getting booted out and completely off Live until I gave up after 5 or 6 iterations.

I am currently associating it with the huge increase in Internet traffic from the bomber activities in Boston. Possibly my ISP is dealing with servers that get heavily impacted by such activity. Totally guessing.

I went into MM before starting customs and played customs for 1.5 hours before any problems.

The XBox could not immediately reboot to the Internet. When I moved over to my PC for messaging etc it seemed quite sluggish. Nothing I can state precisely. Each time I regained access to the Internet and Live for short periods of time.

I switched to XBox wireless and that failed after a short bit of gaming, thus eliminating the Ethernet cable to the router. I'm thinking time will have to ferret out this problem.

DEEP, These issues have become so common in Halo4 I truly believe them to be on the XBL side.

Deep, I've been having the same exact problems as you (and others) as you mentioned above.  With everyone experiencing this I now believe it is and XBL problem and not something on my end.  Before arriving to this conclusion, I did update my router's firmware and made sure I had all of the appropriate xbox ports open and forwarded just in case.  Gameplay has improved for me in other games since then, but Halo still isn't 100%.  I am getting booted less, but I am still getting booted (only once last night).

Thanks for the info. Last night for me was near perfect. Quite a contrast from last Tuesday. Now I have my fingers crossed for Thursday night.

I still think your router may be compounding your issue.  I still can't read your party details at all.

I am not sure of the exact number, but I don't think you can see details once parties get above a certain number. I do know I can see details for a party size of 8, but not for a full party of 16.

If he's in a large party, that may be why you can't read the details.

I have been able to read party details of 16 players.  Haven't been able to read deep's party details with 4 players.

Jonny, Deep, Zombie...What part of the county or countries are you guys in? Who is your service providers? I am wondering if this is a midwest to east coast issue?

I am not discounting the xbox live deal, I am just trying to find the simularities between you guys.

I played last night and had no issues and have not experienced these issues on any regular basis. Again not saying this is not happening just trying to put the puzzle pieces together. :)

Nova Scotia. I'm fairly sure my issue are in the realm of servers between me and and other players. Might be related to my ISP and might not. I'm hoping MS notices the number of drops and gets proactive because too many drops and people stop playing their games. I've never had this problem before, except when it was my router and it outed itself fairly quickly.

@ T I can never see party details if there's more than 8 people in the party, and I know other people have the same issue (clan nights several of us can't tell if the party has room for us)

@ LB west coast of Florida here, and Comcast is my provider

Update:

I swapped out my ancient cable modem for a new one. Totally guessing if this will help my issues which still occured in the evenings as of last night.

My ISP service package is 20Mbps down and 2Mbps up. Curiously I was never getting above 1.6Mbps up. This new cable modem is giving the full 2Mbps up. Many sites are loading faster too.

Maybe the old modem couldn't handle the traffic?

Fingers crossed this will keep me from dropping out of games.

Hopefully it keeps you from dropping.

Is there really that much difference between 1.6 and 2.0 upload speeds?  That's an extra 50 Kilobytes per second, right?  I have text files much bigger than that.

If it does help it'll probably be just keeping it from dropping rather than the upload speed difference that helps.

Hopefully it helps at all though eh?  lol

I agree, the extra .4 or .5 Mbps are not likely going to help. If anything, it may be the old modem was slower because it was failing to process traffic well. This new one may simply work better but not much faster.

Time will tell. :)
