Hey Snappy-

Up in Maine. I grew up in CT and then moved south for a few years before heading back to New England. My wife was instructed to import some new genes into Maine.

I feel like I should reintroduce myself as I've been away for a long time - some may remember my "contribution" to Wednesday track nights, but for those who don't, I didn't exactly do very well, coming spectacularly last the vast majority of the time, and buying a wheel doidn't help matters much. I think a combination of losing all the time, a lack of decent tuning, a stubborn refusal to use assists when i clearly needed them, the very hot weather at the time and a physically uncomfortable ghetto driving setup put me off. I have missed driving and would like to re-engage with you all, who were nothing but kind and patient with my horrendous lap times and general racing incompetence. As GT6 is imminent, is there a list of PSN id's anywhere? Even if I don't do much online racing, I'd like to add more people for leaderboards etc.

Always good to see someone back. This place did not click for me until the second time round.

Welcome to all the latest members. Hope you find some good racing as other benefits of being here. We have subforum also. The Gran Turismo should have a list of players getting GT6 with psn id's.

Whelp, I'm back again.

I've been gone for quite a while.  In the mean time, I've moved to Nevada.  After playing Forza 5 for a few days I realized that I really miss this forum.

Right now I'm doing a lot of Rivals, tuning and building.  My current goal is to reach the top 100 in D class on every track.  I'm still fine tuning my car, the 2014 Fiesta.

Hello,

My name is Dan and I am from the Detroit area.  I am 39 years old and I've been playing games since I got the Atari 2600 in 1981.  I am currently playing on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PS Vita, with occasional games on the PC.  We will be adding the PS4 and Xbox One early in 2014.  I am engaged to a fantastic women, also my age, who is into gaming as much as I am.

I enjoy racing games and shooters, but we also play a few MMORPG's, including Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, DC Universe Online, and Diablo 3 (all on PS3, soon to be PS4).

Outside of gaming, I am a sales professional for Ford.  I am a huge music fan, ranging from Hall and Oates to Fair to Midland, Queen to Queensryche, Eminem to Whitesnake.  We also like to spend time in our other favorite cities, like Chicago and Cleveland, as well as other beautiful areas of Michigan.

I joined 2O2P just before Christmas 2013.  Please feel free to message me or add me to any friends list.  My tags are listed.  I look forward to hooking up with you all online in the very near future.

Cheers!

(P.S. My PSN tag has an underscore in it: Corso_PSN.  Can't really see it on the side of the post.)

Thanks for the warm welcome!  Feel free to send me friend requests on PSN or Xbox Live, if you want.

My primary racer at the moment is Forza 4.  I also own GT5, but I prefer Forza.  I have the Anniversary Edition of GT6 at the house, but I haven't opened it (not sure if I want to keep it yet). I'll be looking to move to next-gen for racing, but not until more wheels are available or compatible.  I run right now with a Playseat Rookie and either the Microsoft Force Feedback wheel (Xbox) or the Logitech Driving Force GT (PS3).  I'm also a fan of running F1 races online, but I only have F1 2012 for PS3, as 2013 was only released digitally so far, and I'm not cool with that.

I ran last night with a group of guys from the Forza site who do NASCAR Wednesdays (only Fusion or Monte Carlo, stock only) each week.  We had some great runs, but we fell a bit short on people.  So, as I mentioned, add me for any of the games I mentioned and we'll hook up for some good, clean racing.

Cheers!

Corso, you gotta open up that GT6 package and get started.  PD has improved just about every aspect of GT5 and the result is a wonderful sim racing game.  The graphics are better, as is the menu system.  The car selection now totals over 1200 cars, with many cars from GT5 improved.  For example, two of my all time favorites, the Chapparal 2J and the Sauber Mercedes race car now have full "premium" cockpits.  The track selection is ungodly good, numbering 39 different tracks, with more to come.  The FFB and physics are also much improved.  The only area that has not improved significantly is the car sounds, but we can expect some changes there soon via updates.  PD does a much better job with updates than Turn 10, we already have had two major updates, versions 1.01 and 1.02, with a ton of new seasonal races.  PD also has greatly increased payouts and has implemented the login bonus like we had in GT5.

Hey Brnt how goes it? Skipping FM5 eh? Thats too bad, seems alot of folks are put off by it. I hated it the first few days but have really grown to like it. Speaking of hatred...if I had more friends on my list with FM5,would it help with the drivatards? More decent drivers and less deaf, dumb, blind and handless!

The general sentiment is lukewarm as to Forza 5.  That being said, I personally love it, so much so that I had to buy myself a Thrustmaster TX wheel with which to play it.  Yes, the eye candy is a huge factor for me, but I also love the car and track selection.  In raw numbers, both are way down from Forza 3 and 4, but there is nice diversity.  On the car side, we now have open wheelers, including classic F1, IndyCars and F1.  On the track side, we have new Forza entries and wildly popular Bathurst and Spa to partially offset the loss of many classic Forza tracks.  The multiplayer has been scaled back.  There are no car clubs, no auction house and no storefront.  We also cannot gift cars or tunes.  The loss of those features has not been a big deal for me, since I play Forza 5 primarily by myself, although I would like to do some multiplayer in the near future.

Oops, forgot that I am not supposed to say anything nice about the game if you are not allowed to slam it.  sad

I believe that your issue was with the repetition of opinion, not the contradictory nature of the opinion. I am, of course, allowed to slam anything (you're not the boss of me) so don't operate under the mistaken impression that you've acquired a position of authority around here. However, that is not the point I'm trying to make. I wasn't trying to reprimand you, just shining a spotlight on the hypocrisy, amigo. We've all heard your opinion...and enough is enough.

There is nothing in what I said that suggested that I think I have any authority around here, nor that implied that I believe I am the boss of you.  That is entirely a fiction of your "rage against the machine" imagination.

LOL, how about if we call it "Lawyer v. Sarcasmo - Fight!!!"

I am not sure why we are arguing, since I suspect our political views are very similar.  I love your blog at theamericanleft.com.  I also agree with much of what you write in your game reviews.  They are some of the best game reviews on the net.

I was thinking about calling it "Poking the Shark"...but it has an unintended sexual connotation that doesn't quite fit.

No, it doesn't, particularly because you are from Texas and I am from Oregon.

My wife and I are trying to move to Seattle at some point, but not for the sex. The older I get the more the Texas heat tries to kill me. I appreciate the feedback on my writing...folks don't usually read both here and theamericanleft.com.

I dont think I have posted here since joining recently, so allow me to put the thread back on track (pun intended).

Been long time racing game fan, mostly at a casual/single player level.  Looking forward racing real people for a change in 2014.

...and I love Forza 5 wink
