Week 1: Slayer (AR Starts)
Slayer: The first week of the Halo 5: Guardians Beta will feature the same content from the early-access period. Slayer with Assault Rifle starts will be played on Truth, the reimagining of Midship, as well as Empire, a new symmetrical map featuring the Sniper Rifle.
Week 2: Slayer (BR Starts) and Breakout (SMG Starts)
Slayer: As players begin week two of the Beta, they will now get to play Slayer on two remix maps, Regret and Eden. Both of these maps feature similar themes from the previous maps (Truth and Empire) but have new geometry, weapons and strategies. Josh Holmes announced that players will be able to vote on one of two weapons that will appear as a Power Weapon on Regret.
Breakout: Breakout is Halo 5’s new round-based Slayer gametype. Each player has one life each round and the first team to eliminate all enemy players wins the round. The first team to take five rounds wins the match. This gametype features SMG starts with ‘heightened lethality’, meaning all kill times are slightly faster than standard modes. Two maps will be featured in this playlist: Crossfire and Trench, both designed from the ground up for the Breakout gametype.
Week 3: Strongholds (New Objective Mode)
Strongholds: Week 3 features a new objective gamemode that 343 has not yet talked about. Strongholds appears to feature some form of territory based gametype, however we are currently unsure exactly how this gamemode will play. In addition, 343 has announced that players will be able to vote to decide what maps are played during the Week 3 portion of the beta.
I wonder if Strongholds will be anything like Dominion.

H5 Beta is available through MCC/Extras. Mine is downloading now.
I see the H5 Beta menu item, but it's still greyed out and I don't see anything in my Queue indicating a download. I presume I'm missing something obvious? Do I need to go to Waypoint? Do a clear cache restart?

Maybe answered my question: according to Gamespot, it's not available until 9am Pacific. Guess I gotta wait another 50 minutes or so.

Hmm, you probably have to update the Halo Channel first. It was part of the download procees for me. Is it downloading for you?
The Beta menu item is not greyed out for me but the software says come back on the 29th when I select it..
Try a hard reboot. I heard that works. You can also go to play Episode 2 of Nightfall, then hit X. Then, go to "Play Halo" button - it should take you to the extras menu in MCC and the option should not be greyed out anymore. It's stupid but it works. Mine was already updated automatically though when I was gone because I played the preview beta.
Did a force-quit followed by a hard reboot. Once everything was up and running again, the Halo 5 Beta icon was no longer greyed out. I clicked, watched a short trailer, and initiated the download. Thanks! I'm hoping it takes a very long time because I promised myself I would get a whole laundry list of chores done today (including laundry) before playing

I like how games always try to have some ultra special mode they won't share details about, and it's ALWAYS domination with every few differences. "No, it's not domination, possibly one of the most popular modes from that popular game we're not at all trying to emulate! In our version holding the locations takes points away from the enemy, it's a totally different game!"
territories was around before Domination... which is pretty much "the same with a few differences"
