Halo 4 server issues.

As many halo peeps know, I have been having RAMPANT issues connecting to the 343i server.  I would get in to a room, say one sentence and get dropped from their server, yet still be connected to XBL.

Yesterday, I found out for the first time, that during an XBL connection test that I was having DNS issues.  I had set my xbox to a DMZ (which I despise) but my router only had one default DNS.

After trouble shooting with XBL support on twitter for like 2 weeks, and for 2 hours last night...they had me delete profile, clear cache, reboot router multiple times, reboot xbox, delete game data (DLC), delete Title update, manually enter IP/DNS info...I THINK I solved the issue with something I am fairly certain that they cannot recommend from their service side due to it not being a microsoft solution...

Change your DNS from "get auto" to manual on your router.

Then, input google's free DNS addresses which are "8.8.8.8" and "8.8.4.4"

For anyone interested, basically DNS is what changes www.google.com to 74.125.239.52 for your computer to be able to communicate with it :)

I was able to play with no connectivity issues after I made that change.

Currently Playing:

Now that I've moved and have a new ISP, my connection issues are gone, too.  I would have loved to try this weeks ago, though.  Thank you for sharing.

I haven't had any issues since changing.  It seems like a pretty good fix :)
