Awesome. I really like the look of those classic Halo environments. Forerunner and whatnot.

It has to be by design, but I notice no other weapons used other than the battle rifle.

True, for now

There will be new and returning weapons, according to Frankie.

i think its safe to say that the pistol will be returning (you clearly see it holstered in the video), the .50cal sniper rifle, the shotgun of some sort, and i'd say the AR will return as well. I believe those are safe bets... no?

all safe bets. I would assume we are going to see most Human weapons returning, at least the staples, so don't forget about Rockets. They have said Covenant and flood will return. So you can figure in a few covenant weapons as well.

I think we may see some Forerunner weapons too, along the lines of Sentinels.

Yep.  I agree totally.  I wonder if the plasma cannon is going to make it back (doubt it).  They'll probably have a Forerunner equivalent of the battle rifle, though.

Maybe that's the massive change to the weapon sandbox: much fewer Covenant weapons and a glut of Forerunner ones?

i like this idea! I think the covies and flood will be taking a back seat to the new enemy on the block... if thats the case i could see a lot less covy weapons and a lot more new enemy weapons in MP and campaign...

if you look back to all the previous halo games the main weapons in the game were all human weapons (pistol, BR, AR, shotty, rockets, snipe, etc) there never was a covy weapon you needed to use over the human version. The only one that i can think of was the Halo 2 covy snipe... it was just as good as the human sniper. But over all the other games you just can't say that about another gun...

This time around i get the feeling that 343i wants to increase the weapon count by adding alternate versions of the human weapons but Forerunner versions that you really want to use instead of covy versions that sucked (Ahem! BR>Carbine). That way they can still keep the novelty Covy weapons without introducing a new covy weapon that we've never magically seen before.

I'm remembering something Frankie said that hinted at fewer weapons over all.

Frankie also hinted that the Covenant were not the main enemy. They play a role but not the big bad guy role.

Bolding mine.
