Halo 4- Friendly Fire
I have not read anything official. It was not denied by Frankie. Speculate at your risk.
Apparently you cannot kill members of your team in Infinity Slayer.
I do not know if this is a per-playlist setting or if it is global.
I do not know if there is a setting for it in customs.
I do know other FPS are similar, based on comments I've seen and info from my son.
I won't miss shooting my buddies in the butt in MM.
I won't miss being betrayed and weakened by scum team mates in MM.
I wonder how this affects team mates and their vehicles? Physics effects or not?
FyreWulff speculated that's why Assault was dropped. Plant the bomb, sit on it and have your friends rain grenades and rockets.
If it turned out to be true that there is no freindly fire, globally, or even in just the most popular team MM slayer list, my enthusiasm for the game would plummet.
Scuttle butt is Infinity Slayer only.
IIRC that's the equivalent of Team Slayer we have now in Reach?
FYI. Any EXP earned before Nov. 6 will likely get reset on Nov. 6.
Should just change the name from Infinity Slayer to Call of Duty clone slayer. I mean really...
Stick teammates to weaken the enemy. No longer will you need to carefully aim your sniper shots if friendlies are near the enemy you are shooting. Fire with no regard or repercussion. Appeal to the casuals and forget the loyal. 343 claims this is Halo; all I am seeing is COD with a Halo theme.
I can play the game with or without Friendly Fire on. I will appreciate not weakening or betraying team mates but I didn't need that feature.
Perhaps some of the negative side effects you suggest are there.
This morning was the first I heard of this news. Nobody from any of the Halo 4 special events have complained or even noticed. That speaks volumes.
Not really. Oh how soon we forget our history. Bloom? No one really complained about that during the beta. What did that turn into? Aside from how many times you could use armor lock during the beta, people enjoyed it (and Bungie did nerf it). Same with the quickness of double melee's.
You have to realize that while many people have played H4 during these events, the majority of them require travel and money to participate. And many of the games I've seen did have friendly fire on, so how were they to complain about disabled friendly fire?
You're having a failure to communicate. Deep liked the bloom.
I found it interesting but not a positive or a negative. I neither emphatically liked it or disliked it. I know I never said I disliked it and may even have said I liked it, somewhere. It made sense to me and I could change my cadence to fit the situation. That's a pretty remarkable feat for someone who has a clench grip that's best suited for spray and pray.
I am not going to entertain much discussion on the matter because I've said it so many times. Many people didn't care about bloom. Many people liked bloom as it required skillful cadence to master the weapon. Many people disliked the bloom because they thought it's random spread gave lucky kills and slowed down gameplay.
343i tried to get the nega-bloomers onboard by reducing bloom and eliminating bloom. The situation was more complicated than that. The nega-bloomers couldn't agree on whether 0% bloom or 75% bloom was best. The TU vote favored full bloom to the point 343i couldn't eliminate Team Slayer. The bleed through experiment was so fucked up it had to be removed. Whether the changes were a planned experiment for Halo 4 or not, the end result was basically null. The overall population didn't change much and at best, it only staved off a quicker decline. Remember, I measured MM populations and UU/24hr during that period. MM right now is a mess, as pertains to bloom. A lot of people, including myself, have difficulty moving between playlists styles. Complicating the mess are maps. It made it so I don't like to go into MM more than I ever did for previous Halo titles.
Be aware, this forum is for every 2old2play Halo player. Doesn't matter how poorly or how skillfully they play. Doesn't matter whether they like Infinity Slayer, Slayer Pro, Big Team Battle or 4v4 Hardcore.
Let's plan to go into Halo 4 and have fun and then post about it here, for fun. Why else play a game if not for fun?
Ahem....

I always loved that line.
Let's be honest here. Just because a friend is near by has not stopped most of us from throwing that frag or shooting that rocket. We all know our buddy will understand and have a good laugh about it without hitting that boot button. This way if we're forced to play with Timmy he can't be a fucktard and kill us just because we got to rockets first.
You can NOT hurt a team mate in Infinity Slayer. Grenades and Rockets will throw your team mate around by the explosion but it will not hurt them. All other gametypes friendly fire is present...
Twitch
Infinity Slayer sounds like a real crap hole of a playlist. How much more can 343 nerf a shooter? I wouldn't be surprised if the first update to that playlist includes a care package for a fricken' MOAB...Thankfully they have Slayer Pro.
I hope friendly fire is not turned off in any playlist. Some of the great moments in MM with friends are the accidental plasma sticks and snipes/ricochets to the face. 'Tis a sad day if this is true.
fixed.
I do find it disappointing friendly fire will not be in Infinity Slayer as this is sure to be the most popular playlist (aside from Flood). I understand the pros and cons of friendly fire, but this is simply another nod toward dumbing down the game or making it noob friendly.
Just because Timmy can't betray you doesn't mean he won't still follow you around shooting and nading you.
Lack of friendly fire will probably be a mostly good feature.
You mean no more turning and noscoping an asshat attempting to betray me for snipe? Boo.
