Halo 4 Forgers - Advice.

Some advice for you from me.

Think bigger. That big map theme keeps getting repeated by 343i. The characteristic causing this is Sprint plus full-time Sprint add-on.

If you are thinking of making a map similar to the arena style/size of Halo 3 and REACH, think again.

FYI. I am planning to remake MEGALITH/Stonehenge again and I have high hopes one of the new Forge Environments will allow it. I even ordered a new Stonehenge book. Should be here any day. smiley

Think BIG, Good advice! I hope there are some new 'geometry' options in the sandbox. My hopes are high already, just for the Lighting upgrades they've shown.

Yeah, I already have lots of good ideas and I'm looking forward to some of the new Forge features. I do think there will be a BUNCH of horrible maps with the ability to change player traits and gravity, etc within a certain zone. I see that getting way over used and gimmicky. But the duplicate and magnetic features should make placing blocks alot easier and faster.

Yeah, I agree with your concerns about trait zones. They could turn into a real dog's breakfast. Spying Scissors and I were sharing similar concerns the other day.

BTW. I liked your criss-cross wall structure from The Bluff so much, I have incorporated it into a Halo 4 MEGALITH test bed map. I like to think of the style as either Backbone or Rip Saw.smiley

Yeah, that's cool. It seems to play really well in REACH, so let's hope it translates into H4. I'm just tossing around some general concepts on paper until release since we may (hopefully) have more geometry to play with.

Yes, I'm hoping that the new H4 Forge will have more large-size objects like the Coliseum Walls so I can make some really huge maps.

Thanks. smiley

I hope I can build something that's not just a grey blob this time. I am doubting we will have stone blocks like Halo 3 though.

I just want everything customiable and all game types to work on all maps.  I just don't want them limiting our creativity.

Seems that we're getting many/mostly familiar forge objects, so scale should be same as Reach, shouldn't it?

What 'Feet/Meters to Forge Unit' measurement have you used? I have some half-drawn sketches myself, waiting for H4.

When I built Megalith, I used 1 Forge unit = 1 metre. It was because the 2x4 block was 1x2x4 which is roughly what a Stonehenge Orthostat measures.

If you want a human sized scale factor, I never found the need for one, yet.

I'm drawing up a race map based on a real track. I have some dimensions and distances to go by. I was just curious...

I've used the Warthog (20 feet length) and a Hill Marker (7 feet tall - same as a standing Spartan) as guides for some things I've tried to copy from real-life. Which makes a 1 x 1 forge block a 12 foot cube, approx.?? Thanks DEEP.
