[GT6] - I think its time for an endurance race!
Well, we have had the game for almost 2 months and Im thinking its getting close to hosting our first GT6 Endurance Race (1.5 - 2.0 hours) long. Dry tracks however racing from day to night and back to day. Im thinking about a once a month race at the following tracks.
Daytona 24 hour
Le Mans (with Chicanes)
Nurburgring 24 Hour
Spa-Francorchamps
Currently looking at cars in the 500PP rang so they will not try to kill you.
So is there any interest?
Not a huge fan of doing hour and a half to two hrs runs myself, cuz they ruin me, hands, shoulders, etc. Do them occasionally but would rather broadcast it if there is enough interest.
Depends on the time and day. Maybe on one of the Mazda's off weeks? ;-)
Race cars or street cars?
I'm currently working on a couple ideas, I totally agree its endurance time. Will keep an eye out for more info
This please,thankyou.
Sounds great. As long as the non tuners get help with tunes :)
I cant speak for the others however I will post my tune (that is once the official topic gets started. Still looking at vehicle(s) to use
BTW - With a tim progression set to 15, you can do a simulated 24 hour race in 1.6 hours which is what we will be shooting for
This sounds like a good amount of time for an endurance race. It would get good participation because its not too long for those who get hesitant when they hear "Endurance" but not too short for us maniacs who think a 2 hour SIM race sounds awesome. Besides, there are guys here who can't withstand that can't of time for legitimate reasons. Like back problems, etc.
Cant wait to hear what cars you guys choose. I think two classes is good. Classes with a decent speed differential between them. Lik 8-10 seconda per lap.
What if..... You do a once a month enduro race based on the Tudor enduro series 2 hrs races for 24hrs and 1 hr races for the 12. I think there's 6 races in total but not 100% you could just incorporate the roar before the boar race I was planning as your first race?
Let me know what ya think maybe merge the 2 threads?
Not sure what you have planned for cars but let me know...for the roar race I was thinking 3 class but realized it would probably be thin so was thinking 2 classes just to accommodate those that might not be comfortable in a high powered class car.
The plan I had was to have all the races in a 24 hour format with time progression set to 15 which will have the races at around 1 hour 45 mins in length with a 10 min qualifying so we can keep these to 2 hour total.
As for running a multi class, not sure how that would work on a long race like this. With the max setting of 3 mins on the end timer, the lower pp cars would not be able to finish the race and would show as DNF.
Im currently looking at the 2012 Subaru BRZ GT300 Base Model (also looking at the BMW GT2 Race Car as well). The car has a good cockpit view and bright headlights for night racing so visibility is pretty good. With an oil change, the cars is 518pp, 361hp and 1150kg with default trans and aero settings (suspension, brakes and Diffs are tunable). Really stable car to drive and should make for some great racing. Just did a test run at LeMans on RM tires and with the tire ware/fuel set to "Fast", you can get 8 laps out of a tank with the rear tires in the 4-5 ware range (that was after I pitted and did a full fuel stint on a second set of tires to see how they would hold up after pitting). Depending on the track, tires will be mandated to either Race Hard or Race Medium for the entire race. For example, LeMans will be RM's only where the Ring might be RH's only. Will still need to test that but that is the concept.
I also tried the test session with Penalty sent to "strong" and at some tracks, that will be implemented. Cutting most of the corners at LeMans resulted in a 3 second reduced power and you are ghosted during that time. Pretty strong deterrence for cutting corners. Have not tried it with other cars on the track to see what happens based on contact with other cars though.
Here are the tracks Im thinking of doing (not in any particular order)
As for the time slot, I'm thinking about taking you up on your offer snappy to run these in between the Mazda races and have it every 3 weeks. I would start the enduro an hour earlier though (1600 GMT, 1100 EST) so that it will finish 2 hours prior to the FM4 Super Touring Car series.
All that said, I'll start getting the official topic ready shortly but this should give you a good idea.
Thoughts?
For multi class it wouldn't matter about the dnf as long as there is enough time for the lower class to complete its last lap once the higher class finishes.....scoring would be done manually between the 2 classes. You just have to make sure you record the standings incase the computer scrambles the dnf order. These no info and you still get credits. To be honest iam not even sure there are dnfs I never finished the first race at monza in the Mazda and it still gave me a 14th with points and just gave me a time difference.
But ya if your gonna go ahead with this series just lock my thread it's kinda pointless having 2 of the same races, my idea was to do 1 a month 1 offs based on the Tudor series :)
I dont see why we can'd do both. Yours being multi class being either 1 or 2 hours where mine is single car all being 24 hour races. I for one am still interested in yours
I for one am still not interested in either of your guys stupid races.
Endurance races just aren't Parcells thing. I get bored after 30 minutes or so and anything over 1 hour I find excruciatingly painful.
So having called your races stupid do you think it be OK if I make a cameo appearance for the Spa race, pretty please? My love of Spa supercedes my disdain for endurance races :)
lol
Parcells, you can race in any of the races. Im actually thinking of having that as the season kick off race!
Well I still want to watch from the corner.
Going to go with the 2011 BMW M3 GT2. I think its time to step up the HP a bit for this one. Even though its a GT2 car, it still handles great and will be fun to race in.
That said, Ive started an official race topic to continue the discussion - http://www.2old2play.com/forum/divisions/2old4forza/sub-forum-gran-turismo-racing-events-series-information/gt6-24-hour-endur
