It frustrates me to know I may be bugging someone with invites when they may be in a full party. Btw, for me, it's become WORSE. When someone is in a party over 8, when I click on their name to see how many they have in their party, it says "1". If they're with mutual friends I can see those people. I KNOW they're not alone. But it tells me they are and only shows the GT of the person I click on. Thus making clan night a pain in the ass.

Yeah, it makes Thursday night site wide just that little bit more difficult to manage. I just spam a bit now to save time.

Its all you can do. I spam and hope no one gets mad lol.

Meh.  Fuck them.  Spam away.  If people get upset at being spammed, they can show as offline or get off the Friends of Friends Gamertag.  That's what its there for.

343 is not bungie.  They do not listen to the consumer.  They take the money and run, and also run a public Beta after launch.  I have no faith in them.  I play the game because Halo is my shooter of choice, and I already made an investment in it.

When the next Halo comes out, I will probably wait for it to be on sale or just rent it.  really not fond at giving them any sort of launch day sales.

Well, Reach did happen on their watch.  The point still stands.  Their track record is pretty impressive.

They took over reach and released a map pack.  Reach was 97% bungie.  It's pretty sad that they are having this much trouble with something that is pretty much like playing Halo Reach on a jTag or devkit.  The game looks 100% the same.

I did read this all the way through, and look at the chart. But personally, I don't need someone else to tell me the numbers have dropped. My friends list went from "oh look 27 people in Halo!" to "oh look 4 people in Halo."

In H2 and H3, no matter what time of the day or night I got on, there were friends online playing. Now I sit and check Xbox.com, waiting to see if anyone gets online. Weekends are particularly dead in H4. This makes me pouty.

That guy needs sharpen and expand his toolset. Let him collect data for a year to see what can happen to a game's popularity. http://forums.bungie.org/halo/archive38.pl?read=1123378 Previous records show a Halo's population rises dramatically during school break. My other study shows that as the Unique Users go, so goes the MM population. http://forums.bungie.org/halo/archive38.pl?read=1123835 Halo 4's MM population seems to be lower than any records I have for REACH. Sad but true. Doesn't mean this guy has divined the truth about the whole cow plop from a few specks of fly shit. I go THC for news, not opinions.

Well, here's to hoping.  It'll be  helluva return if it comes back to what it was at release, but maybe the christmas bump is going to be the new peak.  I suppose we should really just disregard the first 7 days as an anomaly.

Edited to add: it's also worth nothing that he didn't collect a year because we don't have a year of data to collect yet.  Can't fault him for that.

It was his prediction based on a limited dataset that is questionable. I'm not even saying it won't come to be but previous data sources indicate otherwise.

I'm not sure he's making a prediction so much as he is pointing out a trend, given the data he has.  I'm not even a huge data/math kind of guy, so if someone does want to chime in (ahem, Lanierb), that would work better.

This is what I meant by a prediction. The trend would have to remain consistant for it to come true. My data indicates that there could be increases before his time period expires.

  • Halo's 4s population will hit 10,000 approximately 75 days from now.

So you're upset that he used his data to make a prediction that disagrees with your prediction using your data?  Got it.

I wonder sometimes how many people just sit and look to see how many people are on, then when they see so few people, go and do something else.

I'm guilty.

Guilty as charged.

However, the times when I do go ahead and sign-on, I usually end up find peeps to get into some games (I guess other xbox.com lurkers decide to get online).

OR

I end up sad, alone and playing with randoms. 78

Yup. Xbox.com should have a little alert "lurking, looking to play Halo" lol

Mato and I try to play every night, usually between 9 and 11 Eastern.  If you don't mind playing with someone in the .30's on both k/d and w/l you guys are always welcome to team up with us.  We currently play BTB while she's still learning.  So send me some friend invites, we'll probably be on tonight.

With that being said, I was curious after the conversations yesterday of how many people were on and playing on the FoF tag when we got done playing last night.  I think there was one person playing Battlefield, 4 or 5 people idle and the rest were logged out.  So yeah I could see where some sort of system for synching up could be valuable for us...

I am curious why you are playing BTB if she's new to Halo? Do you just prefer BTB?

I'm thinking perhaps playing on smaller maps with smaller teams would make it easier to learn. You know, without all the added chaos of the vehicles.

Granted, I'm looking at this from the point-of-view of somebody that doesn't really enjoy BTB, so if that's what you guys like, then go for it!

when I'm really sick, I prefer big team. More people to carry me, less likely anyone will care if I get three kills.

My thought process is her 2 and 10 only effects 12% of the overall team score vs. 25% of the overall team score causing her score to play less of a factor on win/loss.  Am I not thinking the way I should?  For example when playing 4v4 with some friends of ours the other night we lost almost every game, I looked at the numbers later and all the games we lost but one we lost by an amount based on the large number of deaths she had.   I'm trying to find a nice way to say it so hope that makes sense haha!  But if you guys think it would be easier for her 4v4 well that would definitely open up more maps - I bought the two expansions (and yes downloaded them) and I've yet to see any of those maps come up in matchmaking, talk about feeling I wasted my money...

Explain to her that the game doesn't end when your team gets 50 (60 now) kills, it ends when you give up 50 (now 60) deaths.

Yesterday felt like a turning point for her I think.  I asked her this morning if she's finally getting comfortable and she said yes. She did have a 2 and 10 game and one other negative game but the rest of the games she was positive and under 5 deaths.  But I am afraid it's because she grabs the sniper and goes and sits at the back of the map so I'm going to try to get her moving around more.  4v4 would definitely help with that.  If the sites stuff is still going on when we get on maybe we'll join up with some of you guys.

tonight is the night! Hit up Deep NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN ( < not the correct spelling) and he will try to get you in.

I think for now the BTB stuff is a little better for her, technically it is a little slower paced, so she can get use to the mechanics and stuff. 4v4 or even 5v5 might be too overwhelming for her. Just my 2 cents.

I was kind of thinking just the opposite. In BTB you have more people pinging away with DMRs in addition to the vehicles.

The smaller playlists/maps, it may be easier for her to stay with teammates.

If she wants to get better she could try focusing on communication, getting assists and simply staying alive. Get good at those and her k/d should improve.

Personally I'd rather play with a fun group than a bunch of k/d tryhards that ONLY want to win.

Bottom line though, just play what you enjoy and hopefully she'll improve.
