[FM4] Modern Muscle Fri 10:00 EDT
[FM4] Modern Muscle Fri 10:00 EDT
I put the feelers out a while ago and it looks like there is enough interest, so I want to officially announce this series.
I built up some modern U.S. Muscle Cars to S700, did a lot of testing to get them farely equal and now it's time to race them.
Here is the list of cars.
2011 Cadillac CTS-V
2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS
2009 Dodge Challenger SRT-8
2012 Dodge Charger SRT-8
2010 Ford Shelby GT-500
2006 Pontiac GTO
The cars are in the East, Central, and West Garages and there are free tunes for all cars on my SF. If you want unlocked tunes, let me know and I will send them to you.
Here is the series schedule.
March 2nd - Road Altanta Full
March 9th - Sunset Peninsula Full
March 16th - Infineon NASCAR
March 23rd - Indianapolis GP
March 30th - Road America
Practice will start at 9:00 pm EST with qualifying and racing starting at 10:00 pm EST. Room will lock after qualifying round so please try to be in the room by 10:00 pm.
General
-Test the different cars to see what you like. I originally was asking that you use one car throughout the series, but people have shown an interest in running different cars, so use any car for any race. You do NOT have to stay in the same car for the whole series, but you can if you like.
Sign ups
-Please sign up 24 hours before the race and post seed times. If multiple rooms are required, I would like to place drivers with others of the same abilities. Sign up sheets will be posted as we get closer to March.
Car builds
-Car builds are spec, do not change any parts except the wheels. All cars have the lightest wheels which you can change if you don't like the style.
Tuning
-All parts of the car are tunable. You can adjust anything but the wings. The wings must remain at maximum to keep the cars competitive.
Race room setup
-All assists allowed. Damage-Cosmetic only. Collisions-always on except in qualifying sessions.
Cautions
-Cautions may be called for incidents involving multiple cars and severe impact or roll over (other cars, wall or other immobile objects). 2 cars bumping and spinning will not be treated as justifiable full course cautions (so call your caution sparingly). If the impact is enough to knock parts off a car and shatter multiple windows, it's probably severe enough. Think about if the incident would bring out a full course yellow in real world racing (not a local corner yellow).
Mechanical cautions
-If a driver experiences an accident directly related to equipment failure/issues, a RED flag may be called (including single car incidents). Upon issuance of Red Flag the lead car is expected to bring his/her vehicle down to a controlled stop (don't slam on the brakes) alongside the edge of the track. The rest of the field is to take up position behind the lead car. From the time the lead car stops up to 3 minutes will be allowed for the affected driver to make necessary repairs/reboot of equipment and rejoin tail end of field. At the 3 minute mark (or sooner if driver rejoins tail end of field) track goes to yellow flag and lead car is to lead field away to front straight in standard yellow flag manner w/ green being waved approx 50-100yds prior to S/F line. Red flag allowance will have a limit of 1 time use per driver per race. If driver experiences addition issues, I'm sorry but the race must go on.
-Abuse of cautions will be reviewed.
-When a caution is called, the lead car is to slow to 60 mph or so, allowing the field to regroup. Follow the course at caution speed all the way around. Do not stop on the track.
-Restart race on the next long straight once everyone is grouped together. Restart is to be single file. Leader is to call out 3-2-1-GO as they start. No passing until after the next corner. This is to allow cars a chance to catch up w/o having to rush as fast as they can go, hopefully reducing the number of accidents that happen under yellow.
-No passing under yellow. Cars involved in the yellow are to fall in line where they may. No regaining positions.
-No cautions for the final 5 laps of the race. Leader should call out no cautions upon taking taking the 5 to go.
Competition Balancing
-I do not like the handicap system so I have another idea to keep the racing close and competitive. Each race night will consist of a qualifying round followed by 2 races of 10 laps each . The qualifying round will be 3 laps with the cars ghosted. Clean laps will score ahead of dirty laps. Race #1 will start according to how you qualified. Race #2 will be the reverse order of your finishing place in Race #1. (last will start 1st)
Points
Points will be awarded as follows.
Qualifying 1st-3 pts, 2nd-2 pts, 3rd-1 pt, All others-0 pts.
Races 1st-20 pts, 2nd-18 pts, 3rd-16 pts, 4th-14 pts, 5th-12 pts, 6th-11 pts, 7th-10 pts, 8th-9 pts, 9th-8 pts, 10th-7 pts, 11th-6 pts, 12th-5 pts, 13th-4 pts, 14th-3 pts, 15th-2 pts, All others-1 pt.
The reverse ordering in race 2 and small gaps in points should make for a very tight points race.

Awesome Cars Jarhead!!
No problem Church. I just copy and paste it. I saved the post to a txt file before the site switched over. Didn't see the option to sticky topics though.
Awesome Paint jobs OldSchool
I was defaulted to Chicago, and then when I went to reset it, I had to find New York, guess I'm too dumb to be trusted to look for EST...(annoyingly AOLish)
I got a temp signature up!
Having looked around I belive only cotter can sticky items.
nope. I can't sticky either. Doodi's gonna have to sort out admin permissions I believe.
Added a signup sheet link in the second post.
Just a reminder, race tonight. Practice room opens at 9:30 EST. I would like to start the qualify race no later than 10:00 EST, I have to work tomorrow morning. Please sign up, but I will let anyone race who shows up. If it requires more than 1 room, I will need someone to host a second room.
I'm going to try to make it 2nite Jarhead, so I was wondering if you can send me a unlocked tune for the caddy??
Oldschool thats some nice paint jobs on the cars!!! I need to go buy 1 for the caddy!!
Got booted twice so siad the heck with it. I was looking forward to the second race. Hoping I could hang on for a mid pack fininsh. Maybe I'll try again next week. Jim
Wow, fast racing there!
I was bouncing off the curbs when I thought to myself,
"this looks dangerous!", and then this happened.
Looking forward to next week, I think this`ll buff out.

I'll have to defer to Church, but I think they take points off if you can't read the roof Bongo!
Well despite Turn 10, we did get a couple of good races in last night. First race started with 13, dropped 1 (mealworm) and ended with 12. Second race started and finished with 10. There was some great battles going on in both races.
I really had fun in the second race fighting my way through traffic to finish 3rd. Please let me know what you think about the reverse order start for race 2. For me it was great and really made for some fun battles.
1st race was caution free and 2nd race only had 1 caution near the start of the race. Always great to race with a bunch of mature guys who aren't trying to take you out on every corner like all the Timmys in the public lobbies.
I will get the results and standings up in the 2nd post soon.
That was a lot of fun last night. Looking forward to Sunset next week. Great job Jarhead. I like the reverse order for the second race. Keep that format for sure.
Like you said despite Turn 10 I had a good time racing last night. I like the reverse order for the second race, makes the faster guys battle through the pack.
Yes and i hope you have the cars logo on the roof!!
Yeah, and I have a new roof vinyl..
says "Church was here"...
Next race tomorrow night (Friday) at Sunset peninsula full. Same format as last week.
Practice starts 9:00 pm EST. Qualify and racing start at 10:00 pm EST.
After the problems we had last week, I am going to do something a little different this week. Once we go into the qualifying race, I am going to lock the room. Please do not leave between races because you won't be able to get back in. It also messes up the starting order by doing that.
I'm sorry for those who can't get there on time, but I think this will be the only way to get the racing done without having to start the room over multiple times. I work on Saturday morning and I'm staying up a little past my bedtime to run this series, but I want to give the west coast guys a chance to join. When it runs too late, it makes it hard to get up at 5:30 in the morning.
I will not make it tonoght I have to go to a benefit for a local highschool. I should be there next week. Jim
another night of awesome racing...nice racing with guys that know how to race
i just watched the replay and it's hlarious how long he was stuck spinning on one corner of the car until someone came through and knocked him off the "balancing point"
Sorry about last night guys. My xbox crapped out on me last night and by the time I got home with a new one it was too late. I had problems trying to transfer my data over from the old hard drive to new one. I didnt know that when you transfer your data everything transfers but your game saves. Long story short after about 3 hours of messing around, I sorted everything out. Just before I transfered my data I moved my game saves for forza to a thumb drive instead of copying it. For some reason Microsoft does not let you have multiple games saves!! After I transfered everything, all I had to do was moved the game save files from the thumb drive to the hard drive........problem solved.
