EU Community Using No Sprint Modded Gametypes

Personally I'd like to try these no sprint gametypes out.  I'd heard some conflicting things about whether or not they were allowed.

Here's the link to the beyond thread:

http://teambeyond.net/forum/index.php?/topic/3289-europe-v51-settings-no...

Here's an EU video with thoughts on the settings.

Some discussion points are:

- Beyond forums admins saying no sprint = no developer support.  (Not sure why anyone would care at this point).

- Could be a good message to show through actions that the community would rather play modded gametypes than deal with sprint

- Gameplay improvements.  Classic halo feel.  Power positions are again worthwhile.  Pit CTF is back with no sprint (it was a joke with sprint).  Skyline plays much better.  Smaller maps may be forged to accommodate the new settings.

As I've said before, I think 343 has an incredible opportunity to appease both camps with Halo 5 (or whatever the next title is).

Split matchmaking into two divisions:  social with all the random BS like armor abilities, sprint, etc., with bigger maps, and ranked with community-tuned variants like no sprint, set ordinance, no AAs, NO GUESTS, NO JIP, etc., smaller 4v4 or 5v5 maps.   I really feel that if they implement this system that they will have a smash hit on their hands.

Didn't you just describe Reach? At least what Reach was after ZBNS was an option for MLG. 343 took what they "learned" in Reach and gave us more of the same with H4.

H3 had it right with Social and Ranked being the same game settings and MLG with some tweaks, but not too different from the other settings.

Mixing things up with different settings has just turned Halo into a mess - it didn't work in Reach and it doesn't work in H4. The "competitive" playlists have always had smaller populations, but at least in H3, you could play MLG and the game wasn't that much different from Social/Ranked. The mess started in Reach and apparently 343 didn't learn it's lesson from all the Vanilla, Reduced Bloom, Zero Bloom, Anniversary Settings fiasco.

Reach was a mess and H4 is a mess with too many variants - even for a simple game of Slayer there are different variants. Variants belong in Action Sack, not in the main Slayer playlist. 343 perhaps views this as a way to give us options, but to me it is just an annoyance having to constantly deal with changing settings within the same Slayer playlist.

I played some Reach - Anniversary Slayer - over the weekend with some friends and THAT was actually enjoyable. Sure the pistol is a beast, but at least this felt like Halo. No AAs to deal with, no Sprint, no Loadouts - just Halo. I had fun and I didn't feel like rage quitting after a couple of games like in H4.

You know it's kind of sad that a successful franchise as Halo is having such an indentity crisis, but that's what it feels like now. I literally have no idea what to expect from H5/Halo XB1/whatever the next game is called.

In my opinion the different movement settings mess started in Halo 3 with MLG. Similar issues happened again with the TU in REACH and now again Halo 4. It makes running Customs messy because some people can't tolerate the differences. As it was REACH, 343i hasn't done enough in Halo 4 to make it easy to play the latest Weapon Tuned gametypes and associatec maps. Going into MM to get them is a very inefficent method.

They should have set up an official 343i gamertag that has a larger than normal file share size, if possible, and have all the playable variants downloadable from there.  Of course this doesn't fix the too many settings problem, but it sure makes retrieving the game type you want much easier.
