Driving with a Clutch

Well,

After far too long I have decided to try using the clutch option to enhance my Forza experiance ( or some old bollox...)

A few question for the more experianced users though as I am struggling a little.

  1. 1. What is the best button layout?
  •       Currently i am using A + B for shifting and the left bumper for clutch but not happy with the clutch position

2. Do you use the clutch to down shift?

Under braking when I down shift it takes FOR EVER for the shift to take place and therefore no engine braking, when  I  turn in the clutch will re engage and I turn into a DK, not the best for quick lap time (something I dream of...) I am not using the clutch to down shift as my feeble brain gets all confused tying to use two fingers on the same hand at the same time.

3. Do you need the race clutch when going manual?

I have not so far but am thinking this might cure my down shift issue.

Anyway, have discovered a new turn of speed having gone clutch, now just need to hone my skill so I am at least in the top 16...

Any help pointers of guidance greatly received.

Firstly, swap the handbrake/clutch option  - You'll then press buttons A(clutch and) X B (gears) This will make it much easier to master.

Secondly, use the clutch for all gear changes and also start practicing the rev match technique, (blip the throttle at the same time you down shift)

lastly, never upgrade the clutch in the car - its near useless.

Thanks for the advice, will change over the controller options this evening and give it another try.

Also, remember that this isn't like clutching a conventional car.

You don't have to lift off throttle to upshhift.

Don't hold the cluth open.

Blip it as quicly as you do the gear change buttons.

Basically it's really just a matter of training yourself to mash 2 buttons when shifting instead of 1.
