What year were you born? Obvious Question for an older gamer site right?
Curious why there are so many armor slots.
You can carry more then one piece at a time. Some armor will give you a different benefit then another. So you might want to carry different armor sets that will focus on different fights.
You can collect a few, dismantle a few, put some in storage. I know you can share stuff between classes and I presume sub-classes.

Your subclass just resets your skills, not your level. It's fun, you basically have to keep fighting level 20 monsters because the level 2 ones barely give you any skill experience, but you get no grenades or double jump or anything.
Anything other than white common armor will have the ability to upgrade.
until you hit 20, you should just scrap any armor that is lesser than your equipped one. You can't sell them but you get money for scrapping them.
Yeah, I've had to scrap many to get materials to upgrade.
