Decisions, decisions...
Well, I acquired a PS3 and GT6. I had fun with it but I find myself always coming back to FM4 due to my lack of a quality wheel setup...
I have made the decision to sell my PS3 in order to save up for a new purchase.
This purchase consists of a small block Ford install kit for my '89 RX7. That's the plan, a $400 kit to put in the 5.0 I have into my FC. I'm taking the leap of creating a budget driver / weekend track / drift car.
I need to drive...
Ford install easier than a chevy? Not familiar with the Mazdas. Not a huge ford fan but the 5.0's are solid. Sounds like a fun swap.
I always have to smile when you US guys talk about a "small block", anyting over a 2.0 is a large engine over here.
Sounds like fun though, if I'm not mistaken that swap doesn't change the weight of the car much doesn't it?
As small blocks go the Ford is about as good a choice as anything. Lighter than an old school Chevy small block and probably about the same as a GM LS engine.
Sounds like a sweet setup to me Drivebye
With any luck I'll be doing a Ford swap this winter/next spring
Sold the wife's car to generate some quick cash for an "investment" that should be quite sweet down the road. Short term Is she's driving my truck now and I'm stuck in the "beast" (89 F150 Lariat short bed 302/5 speed 4wd) until we get her another ride. Might end up me getting another ride if she stays in my truck much longer...
Yeah the SBF set up with the T5 is the best / easiest swap on the FC. The 5.0 is obviously heavier than the 13B, once the engine is fitted I may have to go for some heavier springs up front until phase 2 of the build.
Phase 1 is to fit the 5.0 / T5 and get is road worthy with a used Bride bucket, then just do some SCCA solo autox until I can save up for phase 2... Adjustable Tein coilovers in all 4 corners, custom cage, Takata straps, and I think I'm going with some Enkei 92 Classic wheels to top it off. I'm leaning more to the oldschool and running 15" with a bit more sidewall. Looking at some Falken or possibly Advan sport rubbers. Should be fun, and expensive lol :/
Unfortunately I had to drop $1,400 on some dental work because my busted ass ain't got no insurance lol... That's holding back the project for a little while...
Teeth more important buddy, never doubt it.
I like 15" and more sidewall. More forgiving, less snap if it tries to go a bit wrong.
Pictures or it didn't happen.....
Lol I will post photos when underway...
