Looks like the new raid will be open when the expansion drops next week...
Looks like you have to be level 30 though. #%% Stuck at 29.75 with my Titan. Hopefully tonight I'll get lucky and the chest will drop. Got the gauntlets last week and an exotic helmet from Nightfall right after it.
It said Level 30 to lead the raid. You may still be able to get in at 29 if the leader is 30. Even if you don't get the chest, new legendaries from Vanguard/Crucible should get you to 30. You'll just need the new raid gear to reach 32.
See, I'm not sure the new Legendary gear from the vendors will get us to 30. The new gear will have "higher attack and defense values", but it says nothing of higher Light. The higher attack and defense is good, but we'll still have the damage nerf going in as a 29 and fighting against Level 30 baddies.
I'm hoping this is wrong, but I'm not sure we'll see 30 with the purchased gear. We'll see soon enough.
Can't be certain, but it wouldn't make much sense for them to limit people from 30 if that is what they are raising the nightfalls too. If the new legendaries and exotic upgrades don't have added light then your only option to hit 30 is continue VoG raiding, which will see a significant reduction in players given that anyone that is a 30 already will want to do Crota's End to get better gear. Then your only hope is to find people stuck at 29 like you to do VoG or hope some 30 will drag you into Crota's End to get new raid gear or fills out a VoG raid out of boredom when they are done their weekly raid limit in Crota's End.
Correct, only leader has to be 30. It will be interesting seeing what we need to get additional Light.
Several 30's around here already, I'm sure some adventurous souls will want to try the raid right away. I'm open to "leading" a team (I use the term loosely) next Tuesday, I have a 30 Titan available.

Only the IB Crucible armor can help you get to 30. I'm not a big fan of PvP, but when it comes back on the 16th I just might have to deal with it.
Actually the latest update says Iron Banner will get you to 31.

I thought I read somewhere that exotic will be upgradable to 36 light after the DLC.
Also, if you're close to ranking up your Vanguard now, join a faction so you don't fully rank it to the next level. Then once the DLC hits, you'll get the Vanguard Commendations.
