CSR Elite owners or potential buyers look inside

So it looks like Fanatec is finally getting around to offering alternate rims for the CSR-E. Quoted from facebook "The first CSR Elite with Formula rim gets signed by Sebastian Vettel. Something special will happen with this wheel so stay tuned..."

I was meaning the CSR-Elite that doesn't work with your headphones. Seems a perfectly good reason to sell it at a massively reduced cost to a clan member to me. wink

If I don't get those Tritton Warheads 7.1 Headset (Supposedly works with the Elite Wheel because it is wireless?) that seems to be backordered and with a release date that fluctuates monthly I just may get rid of it. I will give them a couple more months of LYING and BS'ing. YOU gets first dibs if you haven't picked up one yet!

which TurtleBeach headset? I currently have PX5's and plan on getting a CSR-E in the next couple of months. I also want the new Astro A50s now that Astro has a true wireless setup (minus the chat cord)

XP 500's...Works great with the Fanatec GT-2 and with PS3 as well as the Fanatec Elite Wheel with the PS3. Will have to check out the Astro's and see if there are any issues with the Xbox 360. Tritton order might soon be dead if they work with no issues with the Elite Wheel.

I have the PX-5 headset and the Fanatec CSR Elite wheel.  The chat does not work in Forza on Xbox 360.  The headset works fine with PS3 and PC.  I use it daily for those platforms, and the Bluetooth chat is awesome.  Best set of cans I have ever owned!!!

To bad... I love my PX-5s. I guess I will have to do that mod with the xbox wireless mic.

are you using the bluetooth puck adapter for chat or the cable? (on your CSR-E of course) the px5s are nearly the same as the xp500s minus the bluetooth adapter thing for xbox.

The trittons are our only hope. I think you are all out of luck with PX5, TB etc with CSRE. All I have heard are tales of woe. I use my CSRE with TB x31's but have wired in the old wireless ms mic. It works but it's annoying to spend so much and then some functionality is missing.

I tried to use the cable on the Elite Wheel with the XP 500's...Didn't work!...Bluetooth works great on the PS3 but not the Xbox!

How about putting motors in them that can handle running at full FFB for extended periods of time without burning out? Hmm???

Nope, just gonna rebadge it as a CSW with interchangable wheels and call it good. :p

Exactly!  I bought a Fanatec CSR Elite in December, and had to get a replacement in March.  Lost much of the force feedback and the wheel became very rough when I ran with it.  Well, I was good until late last month, then the replacement wheel had the same problem.  As Bash references, I ran the Elite at 100% FFB for extended periods of time, typically 1-2 hours for iRacing NASCAR events.  Is that abuse???  devil

To be fair, Fanatec customer service has taken good care of me, and I expect my replacement Elite to arrive in a few weeks.  They told me to reduce the FFB to 80%, which I will do, but I am not happy about it.  Also, when it works, the Elite is an amazing wheel that has changed sim racing for me for the better.

All of that being said, I am not happy about Fanatec's decision to only offer a Formula rim for the Elite.  It adds some salt to the wound, if you know what I mean.  I was under the impression that a GT rim was coming, but Thomas said on his blog that the Formula rim is the only one they will offer for the Elite.  I am not interested in a Formula rim, I suspect like many other Elite owners.  The option of changing out the rim was a material factor in my decision to buy the Elite.  Had I known that only a Formula rim was coming, I might not have paid out $560 for the wheel, but would probably have waited for the CSW.

http://www.911wheel.de/?q=node/8672

I recently bought a Thrustmaster T500RS and I can tell you that its rim is better than the Elite's rim.  Its much more solid, no doubt because it is metal underneath the rubber coating.  I would like to have the option of getting a similarly solid rim for the Elite, but I guess that is not going to happen.

I have bought thousands of dollars in Fanatec products over the last year and a half, and I have no regrets.  That being said, my patience is starting to wear thin.

Contacted Astro about the A50 headset. They said they are Wireless ASSIDE from the fact that they need a cable to a controller or wheel to work the Voice...WTF????

P.S. Remember.... The Chat Cord is still in place and needed!

MrB...Honestly I like the Headset (Truly Creative) but I like Headset that fits over both ears (Better Sound) with a mic attached more. I wish you could make my Turtle Beach Headset work with my Fanatec Elite Wheel. I can't race with others (Xbox) using my Elite Wheel on account of the Headset won't work...I use my GT-2 Wheel to race (Turtle Beach Headset Works with it) but I run faster times with the Elite Wheel. If by any chance you have ANY solutions dealing with Turtle Beach Headset let me know....I will pay you!...And I sincerely appreciate the offer!!

Actually, that IS the solution ;) You don't wear the wireless headset...

You use it like this: (it needs a different end on it, this is for my Tritton headset)

Plug your Turtle Beach headset into the modded wireless headset.

Turn on the wireless headset.

Use Turtle Beach headset.

:D

I have some issues with mine, but that is because the used headset I bought wasn't all that great.

MrB...I wonder if there is anyway to plug the Turtle Beach Headset into the Xbox with a cable to make it work instead of plugging it into the Fanatec Wheel that won't work?

I can't remember the price of the used headset, I will check on that.

$30 including shipping ok? I think it's $20 for the headset, couple bucks to ship, and then the wire and 2.5mm jack. That should cover it and leave me a few bucks for a beer. :) Get you squared away and having someone say, "Basher made me this kick ass thing" is worth more than money to me. ;)

Emcee, you need one as well?

I'm gonna try to wire these so you don't have to charge the thing, it just plugs in with it's charger. Unless you want to go the route of having to charge it. Most of the used ones are traded in because their batteries won't take a charge anymore ;)

M...The problem stems from the compatibility of Fanatec with Microsoft...I am only talking about the Fanatec Elite Wheel only...No issues with the GT-2 Wheel. Zero (AKA Lawyer4Ever) has contacted Fanatec who placed blamed on Microsoft with the compatibility issue!

The issue isn't the headset or which headset you are plugging in. The issue is that the mic port on the wheels SUCK. They have sucked since the PWTS and it's unbelievable they still haven't ironed it out on by now. Many models later, same issue.

For reference, I have a PWTS Beta wheel. The ones that they sent out to reviewers when they first came out in fact. The mic port on it has never worked. (I actually had two, the other went to Spazterian, his mic port doesn't work either) If it didn't work on the Beta wheel, why not fix it?

Sorry to rant, it's just annoying and equally annoying to hear folks defend it. (not that anyone here is doing that or has)

Wheels, PM'ing now :)

In the wheels I have seen, they all use the same model Infineon wireless adapter, including an Elite which I am in the middle of doing a complete teardown on right now. Its a standard MS licensed device. Either they communicate properly with that device or they don't. Apparently on quite a few of these wheels, they don't. :) a smaller version of the same little device sits inside the MS wireless mic. I don't know everything there is to know about this stuff, surely. But I've had enough of the wheels apart and read enough about peoples experiences with them and the company. I can't say I am on board with a compatibility issue. If there is one, it's actually an MS product (the transceiver ) and another MS product (Xbox).
