Church Pro and anyone else that hosts events... please take a moment and read

I removed the old post details because they are now irrelevant.

MFG's 2O4F Events section is currently running.

Details will follow after a little testing from some of the event guys.

Those wanting a sneak peek at what is going on, feel free to hop over to MFG and register an account.

After you register, VISIT THIS PAGE and click the link to gain access to the 2O4F section.

Once you do, your user menu will have a 2O4F Home link as well as the top right of the main menu. That's it, nothing more to do.

I'd love to see it return. The only reason I stopped using it was because I couldn't admin for some reson. Then it completely died for a while as I recall. But I always did appreciate what you did there.

When I rejoined after my hiatus I was surprised to find it no longer in use. It was a nice tool to have when I was setting up the amateur races.

OK series folks...

PLEASE READ THIS !

Cotter, we will need a quick phone call to discuss a few things to help prevent what happened the last time (lost credentials and no one besides me to fix or add that)....

I was looking at the code over coffee this morning after I spent a bit yesterday afternoon thinking about starting from scratch and what I saw today while looking at the old code was literally a ws nothing more than a month or more of solid work to get the functionality back to about 70% of where it was before.

So I thought, why? Why reinvent the wheel here?

All that really was needed was a revamp to the UI (just to make it easier on the eyes), a dash of new goodies here and there and an investment in time to make what it was even better.

So I deceided to go green on this project and recycle.

And its done! :)

hehe

It will have bugs but I can say I can host a BETA now. Right now.

I will need to talk to Cotter about coordinators, admins and generic user rights, but the code is in place.. new tricks are in place to ease user control, better user management.. 100 times less likely to get code-jacked by bots or script kiddies... and more.

I moved the contents of the old db into the new one so the old series info is still there. It will be removed after some folks poke around to get the idea of how it works.

My major to do items are (as best I can tell):

Final posistions of races/events/series - I haven't looked for that code base yet, but once I do it will take a few minues to revamp.

Seed time handling - same as above

Not major, but I want these:

a true calendar view - i created my own last time, this time I have code from another project I am working on that I want to use that will add the events to a central 2o4f Google calendar so you can sync it to you PC or phone, etc....

2o4f members online gaming time - we had a little app that you listed your weekly availablity - ie mon, weds, fris 800-1200 PM easter... it was nice to see when people hope to pop on... this too will get an upgrade and move to Goolge Calendar.

There is still aton of work, but with the recycled code, I can see less than 6 hours of work and that includes most of it from feedback of the event coordinator guys.

So... I don't have much time right now (630-645 eastern is when I go into Rangers game mode) but if you want to chat before that, hit me up on XBL or my phone if you have my number or any time this weekend (within reason!).

I am excited again!

As always, you need to register at myForzaGarage and I suggest using your gamertag, but it is not mandatory.

I will write up better instructions in the days to follow, but for now, once you sign up, you MUST visist a special page that will assign you to the usergroup 2O4F. Without this acces you won't see the 2o4f stuff.

Once you are added, a link will be in the main user menu dropdown on the left as well as a 2o4f home link on the menu bar on the top right.

Anyone from here that signs up (do that first), must then go to this link and click the link on the page:

GO HERE FOR 2O4F ACCESS

I think that is it...

the basic access that link gives will get you familiar with the layout. Special access needs to be assigned to allow people to create events, edit events, change users rooms assignments, rank, delete, etc, etc, etc. I will give that out to who needs it after I chat with Cotter.

Later!
