Canada vs. US for Hockey Supremacy

Supremacy might be a slight stretch, we still have to get by Sweden/Finland and lord knows the Canadians made the Latvia game much more exciting than it should have been but regardless the semi-finals are set.

Here we go again fellas. Canada’s traditional foe (the Ruskies) have vacated the Olympics Men’s hockey tournament earlier today…wouldn’t want to be one of those players, heads will roll over that loss me thinks.

But too bad for them as Canada and our more recent nemesis, namely the Americans both won their quarter final games not long ago setting up a rematch of 2010 when Canada beat the weaker American team (that’s right I said it) for Gold. So that sets up a couple US/Canada hockey games tomorrow and Friday vs. our southerly neighbors. Tomorrow the Women face off for gold. No surprise there, these two teams always play for Gold. But on Friday the Men face off for a trip to the Gold medal game and like most US/Canada games it should be a doozie. Parcells will be trying to work from home on Friday :)

So we have just under 48 hours to trash talk before the teams settle it on the ice…I’ll go first…

I give some credit to the US team, they are a strong team maybe even the second best team in the World but as we all know second best is only the first of a bunch of losers which is what the US is when compared to the powerhouse Canadians. But Parcells isn’t going to be a complete dick about this…I do wish the US team the best of luck in the bronze medal game.

What's that say about the Canadians that they had to go to overtime to beat, in your words, a "weaker" team especially when they had home ice advantage in 2010?

Your question shows a lack of understanding of the finer nuances of this great game and is in part why you will fail.

So in simpler terms, the Canadians choked for 60 mins and got lucky in OT?

In reality terms, the Americans got lucky for 60 minutes but the well ran dry in OT.

That is correct and it will be Canadian bacon that will be fried up in celebration of our victory but of course we’ll save the bacon for the gold medal game, not tomorrow’s semi-final victory.

One down, one to go. The Candian women pulled off the win but in all honesty just barely. If the men's game is half as close as this one Parcells may be in for a heart attack tomorrow.

What's up bitches? Perhaps another day Parcells will eat some crow, in fact I can pretty much guarantee it but that day is not today.

The final 1-0 score really doesn’t reflect how much the US team was outplayed the vast majority of this game.

Great 48 hours for Canada in these games…2 curling gold, 1 hockey gold with an opportunity for a second and a couple other medals to boot, awesome stuff. Really hope the US team is the second best team in this tournament because it will make the gold medal game pretty easy for us…bring on Sweden!

Go Canada!!!

I will give you the hockey, but you can't really brag about shuffle board on ice, aka curling, no one cares about it, not even the people who play it.

Our National curling trophy resembles a giant beer mug! yes...and is one of the toughest trophies to win. More difficult than olympic gold even.

Parcells was strictly speaking about curling trophies.

Is Stanley THE most difficult trophy to obtain (in sport)? Makes me wonder what is. World Cup is definitely up there definitely in contention with Stanley, concievably more difficult? World juniors of hockey is one of the most exciting sporting events in any given year and extremely difficult to win but you have your obvious favorite teams (as do probably all sports for that matter) and perhaps the most exciting sporting event of any given year (US College basketball final 64 - yes I know its more than 64 but seriously?) is a contender too but (off the top of my drunken head) Parcells is going with Stanley/World Cup for toughest to win....what haven't I considered? Anyone?

Disappointing finish by the yanks today, you're definitely better that the Finnish team. First 4 games were easy to score eh?
