Advice

Play with aero v tyre, place mandatory parts on the car like roll cage and drag tyre first, check engine cylinder upgrade to see which class you want to get it (or engine upgrade) and then get the car as close to the weight as possible. Then increase the power accordingly. Add all trans upgrades and suspension upgrades (bar weight reduction)

Leave tyre width to last so it will give your final grip level after getting the car as light as possible.

Thank Defy, thats is where i picked the figures up from :) Z4 is also allowed! :O

The HP Limits on the sheet giz, its not so straight forward.

upto 3500cc is 320bhp

upto 2500cc is 240bhp

upto 2200 i think it was is 190bhp

Aero is optional per the rullset :)

This is very tempting...assuming it's the coupe.  Roadster....not so much.

And looking at the HP caps...it would probably have to be the roadster.....M Coupe makes too much power (I believe).

Sheets a bit different. Is the above correct or the sheet. BTW - you have been spending a bit of time on this I think(based on playing around with various cars and getting nowhere. Can't seem to get the Boxster above the weight limit. Can get it to about 1240kg but no higher. Am I missing something?

Well i was hoping to make some teams, but I haven't put that much through into it. :)  Would like a good mix of beginners and aliens to team up with them. :)

You thinking this for a weekend? Or mid-week?  I can usually be available Fridays during the day (your evening), but Monday through Thursday are pretty much out.  And Sunday is already a full race day for me most weeks (typically 4 events).

This will probably be a saturday night / friday night 1 off, or once in a while.  Aiming for a race that'll give 2 pitstops with the drag tyres :)

Its the tyre sizes i'm really interested in - but to do that, you'll need to figure out what cars will be eligible :)

Ran my '67 vette with drag tires, by accident actually, and didn't like it at all. It was noticable, and I went back into the build to see what was going on.

Does larger rims take some of the wishywashy out of the response?

Yes it does oldschool, and you can also firm up the psi in the tyre slightly.

There are other areas which will compensate for responsiveness of a car and i'll be happy to assist people if this gets going :)

Can I just confirm that by A, B and C class you are referring to the Forza class system?

No class limits, but not R class as they aren't production cars!

Groups are A for possible teams :)

Thank you for helping guys -

Please note the sheet has been corrected, 2 mistakes - I used the space framed bhps for half the classes, I've also forgotton to remove the drivers weights.   This should help, I'm also going to remove the Manadatory race weight reduction as this may take cars out of the running for no reason :)

Sorry poidsly, You made me double check some things as and now, looking at the sheet, the stats make much more sense.

Cant wait to get the grip sorted for what could be an awesome race!

I've just had a thought with this - Forza has a total grip measurement, each tyre upgrade gives 0.02 to the total grip of the car - usually ranges from .8 to 1.2 i think.

Perhaps we can use this stat to limit a cars grip in proportion to the weight?   However, I'm not sure what the relavent stats would be so i'm going to add an extra part to the bottom of the original sheet where people can list the cars with the tyre sizes min max and grip rating in each.

this is getting complicated, but in theory it could mean very close racing :D

Are going to weight it so more weight gets more grip? And then HP, or maybe accel should be considered? Sounds like a more work than a greased pig at a family reunion...

Not necessarily - the performance of the car is rounded up into the P/W ration and with the inclusion of a race gearbox you should be able to get the car to perform like any other of similar stats (in theory)

I think forza holds some thing similar for grip, each time to try to increase a tyre compound or a width it has either  a red or green figure to increase the total grip for that car.. Using the two, they might just match!..

As far as a builder would be concerned, they get the car to the BHP limit for the class, get as much wieght off it as possible and then match the grip.  Relatively simple.

You have to be careful though, sometimes the red/green is nothing more than a pound or two one way or the other and nothing more. Weight seems to be a huge influence.

Oh I agree, and it potentially is the most difficult matter to approach.  Weight directly influences grip as a multiplier and tyre width is have a big effect on that.   I wanted to choose forzas grip measure to enable people to vary the widths of the tyre on the car.   But, if it proves to be too much then i'll just specify a max width as the compound is set already.

I am more interested to see how cars turn out in the scheme of things, it maybe that we stumble on a guide for matching cars..

I've changed the Higher class to allow for bigger engines and more hp, this has brought a few more cars into the equation.  There is a good choice of cars now and some of them i've built and put their stats on the sheet already.

Posibly going to set the grip balance to 1.3 for the "super" class, most cars seem to be able to hit that when combined with weight reductions and tyre width. - Times are fairly close too :)

Are these engine sizes firm on the cc? So no boring of cylinders?

The class restrictions are set by the CC of the car in its built state, so if you had a 2400 and bored it out over 2500, then its moved up a class! Makes it a little exciting :D

Okay, I printed out your spreadsheet down to the Focus. I'll start there and see what happens. I have a few Britcar logos ( I think) I'll try and work up a banner, unless you have a pic of what one already looks like?
