Halo gets features cut from the game and some fans anxiously waiting to see if a TU, map pack, and a single playlist, 3 months after launch, will provide sanctuary for those that prefer "classic" Halo.  Blops 2 adds Twitch support.  WAT?!?

Meh. I mean really, can it get much worse in that department? Will it bring more people to COD or retain what they have longer? Will people desert a game they like for one that allows Twitch service?

Yes.  The ability to share your gameplay, stream it, and have it on demand like that would have been something I'd expect to see from Bungie's file share if they took the next steps forward from Reach to Halo 4.  Thinking about these developments as an older gamer then becomes a hinderance.  If you don't see the benefits to being able to share your gameplay easier (and without additional hardware), then I'm afraid you'd never see them.

Edited to add:  It's just as silly as saying that you wouldn't have seen the need for File Share in Halo 3, or Forge in Halo 3, or the ability to watch theater films in Halo 3, or the hypothetical ability to be able to share your games/files across social media and to be able to click on them, click a button, and then add them to your file share from Facebook/Twitter/Reddit/etc.  You're getting in the way of progress, here.  Quake wasn't a legendary game without multiplayer, and that's still the reason CounterStrike and TF2 get talked about with reverent tones, because the latter two are both multiplayer only, kept on innovating and rebalancing quickly, and you were able to see the videos captured from gameplay easily and relatively quickly.

I think Hop was refering to the possiblity of being able to stream (for free) your Halo game play for a future title to your twitch account. Hell hopefully this is a standard feature for the next xbox. Or 343 could just dismiss this as something that is a waste of time, like clip rendering or sharing saved films.

Also is this not a feature that many people want (currently) for their Halo experience? Saved films, sharing game play, etc. etc.? I am pretty sure I have seen it echoed in many threads in here.

Not sure if you are aware of it, but twitch saves your streams so you can go back and check out the films. Just like a feature that was in Old Halo games.

There was a huge clamor for spectator mode as an in-game feature.  Honestly, I think this puts a long-term kink in MLG's armor.  You can now broadcast any event from anywhere.  All you'd need is some money for the pro's to show up.

It certainly does lower the financial requirements for broadcasting.

Dixon hit the nail on the head. This is big for COD and now Halo is even further behind the 8-ball.

Hell, 343 is still trying to fix Halo 4, much less adding cool new features.

Perhaps, with us being the old farts that we are, we may not be terribly interested in streaming our gameplay. However, for the younger crowd, I expect this will be very popular and could certainly drive people toward playing more COD. 54

Edit: Quick look at Twitch shows approximately 5400 COD viewers and 265 Halo viewers. Halo 4 (when I watch) will generally have around 1000 viewers when Ninja streams, but otherwise it's dead.

People be watchin'.  If people wouldn't be watchin', narcissistic youngins wouldn't be streamin'.

Same.

Few tweets by David Vondahaar -- says it's capped at around 360p. But it's a miracle they were able to get the Xbox to even do that. HIgher quality is possible but not without new hardware.

I suppose you people may be correct. I'm not going to sit around wringing my hands over it though. The Halo news early last week was pretty bad. I'm almost over that, so it's back to playing Halo 4 and having a ton of fun like last night. The new COD features will probably take people away from Halo MM. We'll just have to wait this out and hope it doesn't cancel future Halo releases.

nah, I do not think it will pull people from Halo. They have left to play Halo to play COD before this came out. It is just something I hope the will do either with future Halo games or the next Xbox.

You know that'll never happen Deep.  MS has got too much money tied up in this thing.  Between the books, toys, all the other crap (Lego's, Risk, etc), this franchise makes an assload of money.  I did a quick check and MS and Activision have valued both franchises as worth $3 Billion dollars.   The game is the flagship.  Without the game, nothing else sells.

I think I'm slowly coming over to your side.  MP is nice, but it's the SP off-line players that really matter.

Then we continue our slide to mediocrity.

I play both CoD and Halo. Black Ops 2 has done a great job of providing features and a menu system that works great. I wish Halo had these features, because it the little things that pull gamers from the left to the right. Just like any business its the company that brings the total package that wins over customers. I love Halo gameplay, but its hard for me to see CoD passing it in features that Halo should of had years ago.

I like all the maps for COD games, I wish Halo would put out more maps faster.  Are there more maps, I can't tell anymore...I like both games a lot; as a serious FPS'r I need that variety.

The Halo 4 maps did get old fast but I have had a good time lately in the Forge test playlist at least it adds some variety

Also disagree.  Everything is so cluttered in Call Of Duty.  Treyarch seems to have a boner for SMGs, so they're pretty strong.  Combine that with the close environments and you just have a clusterfuck noobfest.  You don't get Overgrown-type maps any more.

I'm not on that list in the black portion. Sometimes I wish I was.
