<----- Anyone not bought an XBone yet?
Your in luck, price dropped to $350 on November 2nd. http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/10/27/xbox-one-price-drops-to-349-in-us
Party will be at my house...
Yea saw that, still havent made up my mind on which console. Really don't want to have to buy a new wheel because I refuse to drive in racing games with a controller. But damn are they making it hard not to go with xbox. Btw how much is the tx wheel for xbone?
Amazon has the TX wheel and the Ferrari GT458 Challenge wheel bundled for $429 (only three left at that price),
which is a $100 savings if purchased separately. It's eligible for Amazon prime, if you're a member, which will get you free shipping.
Add the Basher adapter for $45 for your Club sport pedals and you will be in business.
This is my exact setup and I have no complaints.
Playstation 4 with GT7!
I will probably get the Xbone, but not for racing. My racing is exclusively on PC now. I don't even have the means to race on xbox 360 anymore since I sold my clubsport pedals. I now use a clubsport wheel, ecci pedals, and triple 27" monitors. The immersion factor is awesome.
I've been waiting for the price to come down. There are some games I would like to get for the Xbone like Far Cry 4 which comes out next month. Maybe it will be my birthday present to myself in December.
Me too, in November, birthday's in May though, maybe no one will notice....
If someone does notice they'll certainly chalk it up to senility, no worries.
I personally went with the Xbox One over the PS4 last November and I am so glad I did. It baffles my mind as to why the PS4 is outselling the Xbox One. It has no "must have" exclusives, nor does it have the wealth of online options that are available on the Xbox One, such as a dedicated YouTube app. For us sim racers, there are no racing games worth buying for PS4, yet on the Xbox One we have Forza 5 and Forza Horizon 2, both of which I play virtually every day.
As to the wheel situation, there are wheels available now for PS4 (Thrustmaster T300RS) and Xbox One (Thrustmaster TX and some Mad Catz junk wheel), but what good is a wheel if there is nothing good to play with it? That is the problem with the PS4. On the Xbox, the TX is simply amazing, particularly if you add a decent set of pedals and an add-on rim, such as the GTE rim.
As to Wheels' point about GT7, I would not hold your breath my friend. Polyphony Digital is famous for long development times of GT titles. You would be much better served with an Xbox One and TX wheel, which in turn means you can play Forza 5, Forza Horizon 2 and probably Forza 6 before we ever see a trailer, much less the release of GT7. You guys know I love the GT series, I play GT6 often, but I also understand Polyphony's track record. I am not going to hold my breath.
Oh, and don't hold your breath for Project CARS either. It was just delayed to March 2015 and I would not be surprised if they delay it again. Keep in mind I have been playing it since early 2012, when I bought in, and the game remains quite buggy, so much so that I cannot even run the latest build on my PC.
IMO, the only place for console sim racing in the foreseeable future is going to be on the Xbox One. With the price drop, and availability of discounted TX wheels, the positive changes and additions to Forza 5 (Nurburgring, anyone?) and an excellent Forza Horizon 2, there has never been a better time IMO to jump in and start sim racing on a console.
agreed Craig cept the TX wheel part...Parcells relishes the day he can quickly disconnect my XOne wheel for my PS3/4 wheel and vice versa so going with the Clubsport V2 option...one ring to rule them all, sort of, maybe not, whatever, you understand.
Yeah, I am not holding my breath on that either. It is Fanatec we are talking about. The V2 appears to be a success, but who knows when they will release the Xbox One and PS3/PS4 rims. Also consider your cost. You likely are looking at over $1000 for the wheel base, plus the two rims.. You can get a TX with the GTE rim and an adequate set of pedals for just over $400, and you can get it today!!!
Stopped by my local Best Buy and reserved the Assassin's Creed Bundle and picked up copies of FM5 and FH2 this afternoon. Will probably be up and running Sunday night.
Went and picked up an Xbone yesterday. It was my anniversary last weekend and I bought my wife a new Gucci bag which gave me the ok to get the Xbone. I got the Assassin's Creed bundle with the Xbone. I also picked up Forza Horizon 2 and Diablo 3 Ultimate Evil edition. GTA V and Far Cry 4 are on pre-order. I have no plans to get Forza 5.
I played a little FH2 last night. It worked ok with the controller.
One thing that sucks about the Xbone is that the controller sticks are smaller than the XB 360 controller sticks. I use Kontrol Freeks on all my controllers and I couldn't transfer them over, so I had to buy new ones.
I also couldn't get the tv function to work. My tv is old and only has one HDMI input. So I plugged my Xbone into the tv and my cable box into the Xbone. You are supposed to be able to watch tv while on the Xbone. I went into the settings to set it up. It said the cable signal was detected and to wait up to 12 seconds, but the picture never showed up. I finally gave up and connected the cable box to the tv with component cables.
Troy, you might try again and see if you had reversed the connections. Also, you might try doing a hard reset of the Xbox One by unplugging it and plugging it back in. I have to do that sometimes to get the TV function to work. Once you start using it, you will never want to go back to separate inputs for TV and video game consoles.
Also, sell that CSR Elite and get yourself a TX wheel and pedal set so you can play Forza 5 and FH 2 the way they were meant to be played.
Craig, I know the connections weren't reversed, because if they were, I wouldn't even been able to get any image on the TV. I'm not worried about it anyway.
As far as the wheel, I will think about it. I really don't want to get back into console racing again though. I will NOT be getting Forza 5. I only got FH2 because it is a more casual arcade game that can be played just fine with the controller.
After racing on the PC, the console racing just isn't the same. Nothing against those that still race on consoles. I raced consoles for years and had plenty of fun. I just can't get serious about it anymore.
I got the Xbone mainly for shooting and adventure games. I currently have Diablo III, Assassins Creed, Far Cry 4, GTA V, and FH2. Those will keep me busy for a while.
Troy, I think the TX is worth it even if you use it solely for FH2. Like the original, FH2 has excellent wheel support. To be candid, the FFB is better in FH2 than Forza 5. It seems stronger and it picks up more effects, particularly when you go offroad. I think you would find FH2 to be much more fun with a wheel, just as the original was great fun with your Fanatec CSR Elite.
Im selling my Xbox One TX wheel with T500 pedals GTE ferrari aftermarket wheel and also the original pedals and wheel. for a cool 450.00 if anyone is interested. Im not using the wheel much. I'm getting the Fanatec CSW V2 in January . From what I've been reading Fanatec will be making console compatible wheel rims that wheel attach to the V2 base. So I will just wait for that. I am mostly racing on PC with a CSW V1 .Send P.M if any interest. Really trying to sell as a set.
I'll be buying a new console as soon and fanatec release a wheel for them. My v2 is on Order and as soon as they release a rim for a xo or ps4 I'll buy the corresponding console. Until then, PS360 for me.
Thomas did say that he (himself) wants to play with his v2 on forza 5 (on the forums) and said he would noti like to give a date as we will moan if he misses it, but then went on to say he can assure us it will be before Q3 2015 so I'm guessing he will release the wheels along with the project cars as that would increase sales for everyone involved.
Here's hoping anyway :)
I don't know who plays the games the best...Fanatec or Microsoft. Fanatec tempts you with a V2 with Microsoft Compatibilty...Offers a discount for You and Me that was screwed with compatibility issues...Gives you up to 7 extensions that expire on the previous day than the last extension day..Only to find out that maybe Q3 of 2015???...WTF???...I am getting so I don't give a Rat's Ass for Fanatec or Microsoft who hushed hushed Sweet Charlotte Fanatec to keep their mouth shut about compatibility issues. Then came out out with a game who screwed the clubs, limited cars, tracks,..ETC. I respect those that want to bend over and take it but it is something I never acquired a taste for. This game of spending a thousand here and thousand there everytime they decide to bring out a new game is Not Trending With Me!!

P.(arcell)S...F Them All!
I am officially an XBOne owner as of last night.
And damned if Jonesy wasn't the first to notice, luv ya big guy, not in a gay way, not that there's anything wrong with that, but I digress.
The learning curve is strong with this one. The UI is taking a bit to get used to for sure. The handling feels pretty good, I'm quite rusty, haven't picked up a controller in quite a while, so there's that. I have noticed if you get a wheel in the grass it's quite squirrely ( No Parcells Intended). The paint booth looks absolutely beeeeeeeeeeeautiful. That said I AM concentrating a bit on my driving and leveling some, but I WILL get in the booth as I can. Have to create everything from scratch I guess. I think Jones has already hinted at what he might want, and it should be relatively easy way to ease into it.
I will say having the Limited edition F5 is making it a tad easier to play catch up. Picked the Honda S2000 as my first ride and am in love with it. (Power over handling, the rest will sort itself out.)
I will dive into the tuning a bit tonight and see what all that looks like, guessing it's not the same as F4, so will have to test a few older settings and see what works.
That said, will only have Monday and Tuesday to tinker with it, on the road Wednesday thru Sunday, torture comes to mind.
Can anyone point me at something of a quick tutorial on getting paint pix or even vid's ( I guess) online for peeps to see? I am thinking the Forza 5 system should allow a short spin of the painted car to be posted online no?
TL;DR : I got an new XBox, don't have a clue what I'm doing, yay!
OldSchool, make sure you sign up for Forza Rewards. There is an app on the Xbox One. I have been getting 1.5 million credits per month via Forza Rewards, which is far more than I need. Also keep in mind that if you buy the DLC packs, you get each of the cars for free in-game.
Wheels, I did not bend over and take it when I bought the Xbox One and the Thrustmaster TX wheel. I bought both products because they are superb and have greatly enhanced my sim racing experience. Remember that the last console generation lasted 8 years. New consoles were long overdue and with new consoles come new hardware.
As for the evolution of the Forza series, there is no point in rehashing that argument. M$ released 3 Forza games on the Xbox 360, plus 2 Forza Horizon games. That means that you have had plenty of games upon which to use your last gen hardware, not including what you can play on the PS3 and PC. Forza 5 has seen a significant amount of change since it was launched and while it does offer less cars and tracks than Forza 4, it has several advantages, including much better graphics, a far more diverse car selection (including open wheel IndyCar and F1) and tracks that are new to the series that are some of the most popular in the world (Bathurst and Spa, for example), plus they added three new tracks as DLC, including Nurburgring, Road America and Long Beach.
Like you, I am done with Fanatec's games. I have found that although their hardware is not without issues, overall, my Thrustmaster products have proven to be more reliable than my Fanatec stuff.
Zero...You are right!...Time to let it go (Fanatec and Microsoft). When I referred to bending over I meant those (Like Me) who bought too many Fanatec items only to caught up in a game between Fanatec and Microsoft and watch their money invested items become obsolete with newer consoles. Love to know the inside story why Microsoft waited so long to let Fanatec offer a wheel for their games. I am more than happy sticking with Parcells on Thursday Nights and maybe a occasional series than being stuck playing games with Fanatec and Microsoft.
I have over 5 million credits and I've only been on a couple hours? I might already be signed up for Forza Rewards. I am going to look into the car packs though.
Most likely it's accumulated rewards that T10 has gifted out over the last year. Had something similar happen when I picked up FM5 last month. You may also receive some car gifts as well.
LE owners get to pick one free car from the original list. Which car should I pick? ( Cost as high as possible and still quite usable desirable criteria please).
I assume it's probably a F1 or something?
yeah, seems to be.
BTW Shaggy, that little green crap box your avatar keeps plowing into me on Bathurst is going to die a violent flaming death!
just saying... oh, and if you see a drivatar with my name on it, apologies.
Merry Christmas.
Sorry. I'll have a chat with my Drivatar about his racecraft. :-)
Fair warning though, at Long Beach it's always a crash-fest trying to get through the fountain complex on the first lap. Always.
Still using my trusty 360! Sold off my wheel etc and let Gold expire but still play it on a weekly basis!
