2O4F - Week in Review – 10/28/13

Eighties Sports Cars Series @ Road Amnerica (Sundays)
Race Highlights – As race coordinator Snappy stated in the topic “Good racing guys and thanks for coming out and joining in. Clay self-imposed a 10% handicap and still pulled away to grab the win. Quite the thing to watch, nice work Clay. I worked my way up to second and then had to battle to stay consistent. I had JuanDerecho and Imjimeez on my butt for several laps. Amazing how Jimeez and his DeLorean were still super fast even with 10% power loss. He'll of a driver Jimmy. Nicely done.  Juan Derecho, in his Coca Cola liveried Porsche was engaged with Jimmy for most of the race. He really had that 911 running well.  Thane, Adikt, tonyssr and Ciletti were tied together for several laps and the back and forth got quite intense for nearly a lap and a half. Hundredth Shrimp's Ferrari was in the mix early on as well, however, mechanical issues plagued the prancing horse and eventually caused his retirement. Sorry, shrimp, racing with ya is always cool. Next time. Skiwi hustled in his Porsche and the Jagermeister racing team is making steady improvement.”

Next race @ Infenion Full on 11/3/13

  1 – Clay in LA

  3 – Imjimeez

  9 – Skiwi
10 – DufferMac
11 – HundredthShrimp

In other news!

British Summer Time ended this past Sunday as the UK clocks went back an hour.  Until the US clocks fall back this coming Sunday, the Euro races will start an hour later for the US folks this week.  Please refer to the Event Schedule for specific start times

This past Saturday, MaxPerforma organized the next installment of the Aussie V8 SuperCar Endurance race at Suzuka Full.  With 40 scheduled laps, the estimated race time of 1.5 hours continues to be a fan favorite with the guys who enjoy racing/taming these monsters. This installment had us taking on the twisting turns of Suzuka Full with Jonnyfocus taking the win. Here are the official results from the race: Jonnyfocus, HLR King Cobra, Dazjon, GrimGrnninGhost, Stewies_head, Nunderw00b, jdankert, FlukierRabbit63, Fitzy.  Look for an official announcement shortly with the details of the next race in these bad boys as we take on Road America on 11/16/13.

Our weekly Track Nights continues to have strong turnouts on (Wednesday Night - hosted by gizziegod & Friday Night – hosted by myself) has we run every class (F - R1) at a set track each week. This past week the Euro guys on Wednesday raced at Iberian full while the North American guys on Friday headed Camino Extreme with the manufacture challenge featuring Fords.  This continues to be a great way to learn the tracks and we continue to see great participation.

This week the WeeklySaturdaySuperFunEvent (hosted by A TRICOOTERTOPS this week) featured Ponies vs Bulls.  As A TRICOOERTOPS stated in the opening post promoting the event –

“This week on SaturdaySuperFunNight we will be seeing if the reigning champion, Ferrari, can hold onto its title against one of the world’s most renowned exotic automobile company, Lamborghini. Again, this will be a team based event. Get prepared to “hold onto your butts” as you fly down the straight in supercars such as the Sesto Elemento.  Or if you’d prefer, you can help the reigning champ Ferrari hold its title driving cars like one of its signature flagships, the Enzo. Whoever wins this battle will continue on next time to battle the next contender to decide who is the ultimate automobile manufacture in the world. Do you have what it takes? Who will you help to make it to the top?”

As it turned out, the blue oval was just too much for the Ferrari last week as the Fords took the title. Next week we will see the classic battle of Ford vs Chevy

“With the recent descent of Ferrari from it's throne, Ford will continue on as the King. Chevy will be next weeks challenger against Ford. The challenge of driving a 2010 Ford Taurus SHO into the top 3 of any race is still up for grabs. Bounty on the challenge will be 10 Million credits to the winner. I may also pick an underdog for the Chevy guys too. Who will come out on top in next weeks duel? Will it be FoMoCo with it's iconic Mustang or will it be Chevy with it's equally famous Corvette? Next week will be trouble up and down the track with RWD monsters roaring down the straights and sliding in the corners. Who will you be backing? Also, Saleen will be allowed as long as it is a Ford based model. Chevy can use Pontiac, GMC, and Cadillac being as they are technically American made/sold GM vehicles. Sign up now and good luck! Now get to tuning those American monster V8s!”

After a small delay, the Thursday Night Small-bore Race Series is a new 4 week series being hosted by PrebuiltAbyss.  The cars eligible for this series include the Ford Escort RS1800, Datsun 510, MGB GT, Alfa Sprint GTA and the BMW 2002 built to B500 specifications.  With tight twisty tracks on the schedule, it looks to be a blast to race. Based on the shakedown event, the series looks to have a strong field we the green flag is waved this week at Laguna Seca (10/31/13).

In addition to the above, we frequently have a number of random lobby races where the guys just run random tracks and cars.  These are a great way to try out new cars and improve your racing skills, not to mention have a great time.

Finally, as we get closer to the launch of FM5 in a few weeks, details are SLOWLY coming into focus with mixed emotions.  Most of us are looking forward to racing on the new tracks and experience the new look and feel and we have a strong list of “Day Oners” however with the current lack of support for the current wheel users, it will be some time before FM5 will take a firm hold of the club.  Although not ideal, this means we will continue to have a strong turnout for FM4 for a number of months after the release date of M5.

As always, if you’re interested in good clean racing, helping each other and having a good time in an older (must be 25 or older) respectable community, feel free to head over to www.2old2Play.com and sign up and let us know you’re interested in joining 2old4forza in the “New in town” forum.  We are always looking for new members to share some good banter and racing etiquette with.  Hope to see you on the track.

Cooter, you can write it in word and paste it here and it should transfer quite well. You know, IF you were that into placating Parcels... Bwahahah, sorry, couldn't do that with a straight face either....cool

Cooter clearly went from one extreme to the other it seems but I'm more curious how long Oldschool has been waiting to use the word placate in a sentence.
