2O2Race a new forum on 2O2Play

Church and I have decided to risk all and start a new forum dedicated to PC racing here on 2O2Play. So we hope once it is up those of you here will join us there for PC sim fat chewing. We will of course still be here on 2O4F and I'm afraid any hopes some of you may have that this means you have seen the last of us will unfortunately be dashed laugh

Anyway here is the idea in a nutshell.

"2O2Race is a new forum for PC Sim Racers. Open to all regardless of race, colour, or creed. This is the brain child of Church Pro and Knight of Redemption who are to be found haunting the 2O4F forum, we decided the time was right for 2O2P to have a forum dedicated to the PC Sim Racing scene.

Independent of club or racing platform, the concept is a forum where all PC racers can chew the fat, chat about the latest goings on in the hobby, share knowledge, promote their clubs and series, make new friends, and just be able to network.

So whether you swear by rFacator, iRacing, Project Cars or like Knight dabble in them all, this forum is for you. Share your thoughts, ideas, hints and tips with the growing community of PC Racers here on 2O2P."

we hope those of you already into PC Sims and those thinking about it will join us there when it is up and running.

The main thing to take into consideration is the following line:

Independent of club or racing platform, the concept is a forum where all PC racers can chew the fat, chat about the latest goings on in the hobby, share knowledge, promote their clubs and series, make new friends, and just be able to network.

I know its a bit cheeky of us posting this on 2Old4Forza but its just a quick head up on what else is and will be available here on 2Old2Play and I hope no-one is thinking we are stepping on there toes.

What we are trying to achieve is an open intermingled group of drivers who like to race everything and can just come and chill and see what else is going on either here, GBR, 2Old2Race ect

And as Knight says, You ain't got rid of us yet as it ain't that easy to.

Look out for 2Old2Race appearing soon. yes

Maybe one of these years/months Parcells will give this PC racing a go, I'm sure it's awesome. As far as the new 2O2P group goes it seems to me it would be difficult to garner general interest in PC racing using a well established group with the name "Forza" in the title. In other words it makes sense to Parcells and may tend to remove some of the carrots that could pursuade me to go PC racing sooner rather than later and essentially save me some money for the time being indecision

Obviously I say this with the utmost respect but I have some time on my hands coming up and wonder what exactly it would take to make this happen?

LOL hmm, well your recent large payments to my internet provider do seem to be paying dividends, and could explain your need to save money, your suggestion they reduce my bandwith during the hours of 7 to 12 in the evening was indeed a stroke of genius...I am however working away behind the scenes to thwart your evil plan and in the end it will come to nothing. I am negotiating with all major PC Manufacturers to block any attempt by anyone answering your description to purchase a computer...purley of course out of respect for your financial position, and in the spirit of good fellowship.

Doodi has to create the subforums & he didn't want too many of them. I think this is probably a better move anyway. Good luck dudes.

To try to reach not just the Forza crowd, but the broader 2O2P populous in general.

Well I just dont think there is a need to seperate racing forums.  It just contributes to confusion.   Doodi will have to create a subforum for them anyway :)

2O4F would be better as a subforum of a general racing forum, that way ALL racing stuff would be in one place and people wouldn't have to hunt around for stuff. Oh well...

Good luck!

Yeah if we had gone that route at the start of V3 it might have been a better way of doing it....I don't know if the two forums could be grouped under the same "Racing" heading after the event?

It just seems to make more sense that way because we dont like forza, we all like racing and the people we race with. So the interest in common is that, Doesn't matter what platform?

It'd be worth a chat with doodi.

Absolutely, like we said, we are not about being instead of, but as well as...if that makes sense. It is logical to have both forums grouped under the same "Racing" heading on the forum listings.

Yeah i know its not instead of - but the seperation doesn't seem logical to me, Keep like minded things together.

I'd guess some thing like

Racing

 - 2O4S (Sim Racing AKA PC)

 - - iRacing

 - - - Events

 - - RFactor

 - - etc

 - 2o4X ( 2o4xbox Racing)

 - - Events

- 2OPS - Playstation Racing

- - GT5

But that depends on the limits on the forum, however it'd certainly bring alot of people in if we could get an events league side to it also.

My .02 I think its a great idea! BUT the majority of pc racers in 204F are already with GBR wouldn't it be easier to to have a thread or link to GBR ? Just seems like a lot of work for something that has already built and were a part. It would be a shame to put all the work into gbr and 202r and take the chance of one failing and becoming a ghost town? Just my thoughts Cheers

You may be right but,  GBR is a fully functioning and growing race club 2O2R will just be a forum that may attract more members  to 2O2P, GBR and even 2O2F. Who knows how many PC racers drop by 2O2P see no mention of PC racing and move on?

Yeah, but that is very limited, we want to feature more than events, tORN TV, Basherboards, Sims in Beta like rF2, Project Cars and those to come like Alsseto Corsa. Hardware issues, software issues all stuff that is very particular to PC Racing. Events will be covered in passing but they are already well covered here and on GBR. They will be covered by way of links to the relevent threads here and GBR. There is no need to reinvent the wheel or simply duplicate what is already here. what we are not doing is starting another racing club with it's own events...though maybe in the future we may think about hosting the odd one off event on one or both platforms that is not the focus or the intention in the short term.

Damn forgot to quote...this was in reply to Tourni blush

My post was just an example as you would have to spend some time getting the organisation right,  take the fps clams on 202p, which one do you join if you are looking for some fps gaming?  Too many to choose from :)

A poor exAmple, but enough to get the point across that I think like minded communities should be kept together so they feed of each other.  At the moment we hardly see the pc racing boys posting on here, separating things further won't help the cause in my opinion :)

I agree with you completely Tourni but look at the comments here... a happy merged racing community isn't going to happen through this forum unfortunately.

Cheers!

I think the intention is to tap into the player base of 2O2P and sidestep 2O4F but do so in a non-negative way.

While it would be great to have an integrated PC Sim/Forza base through 2O4F, my impression is that Cotter would prefer to keep this as directly Forza related as possible (and no offense to Cotter in this, its your sandbox and soccer ball!).

The Forums at GBR are very well organized, tightly knit but don't have a big draw members wise and I know for me personally, I like that.  I can see using the 2O2P forums as a "vetting" process to get more general PC Sim racers talking and chatting and then drawing the more involved folks to GBR.

I'll be supporting the initiative and see where it goes.

Cheers!

With 2O2Race we are trying to create an extra area where all things PC racing exsit not just events. I hope in the long GBR, 2O4F and 202R work together as groups and people use all 3 areas. As knight says at this moment in time there is no PC Racing area, as such if someone only races on the PC they will just bounce from this site and move to the next. I hope we can get new people not only to our groups but to 2Old2Play in general. And you can see me set my cars on fire :)

If we were to try & do more subdividing here, then I'd have to handle all of the forums. I don't want that job. Let them have their own group & they can set it up how they see fit.

For whatever my opinion is worth, I personally think its a shame. Part of the colour of this place are its many and varied denizens. Guess I think Tourni's idea is best, but can totally see where JC is coming from. However, good luck to the PC crew and hope it goes smoothly.

Remember, no one is leaving.  Rather, as I understand the concept, if folks that visit 2Old4Forza are interested in PC sim racing, they can go to the new forum to talk about that, and still be here to talk all things Forza.  GBR is materially different in my view, in that its membership is by application and is much smaller.  Church and Knight are trying to fill a gap, not replace anything currently available to 2Old4Forza and GBR members.

My plan is to continue to frequent 2Old4Forza and GBR, and add the new forum to my list of "homes", since I do console and PC sim racing.

As I understand things, 2O4F is a Forza Clan/Club. That is how it sets out it's stall on the front page and that is what Cotter created. I wanna talk Forza or see what the group is up to I come here. People looking for Forza come here, we will describe ourselves as above, a PC racing forum. Put the two things side by side and people will go to the relevant one. We are kept together under the 2O2Play banner that is the whole idea. If we were trying to put together a PC race league from 2O4F members I would be agreeing with you 100% But we already have a sort of in house PC Racing League GBR, okay not under the 2O2P banner but we are just about all members here too.

So you see we are trying not only to keep the community we have together but hopefully to add to it, all here on 2O2Play. As Cotter has said, to do it here would give him more headaches and admin jobs than he wants. Church, Sherb, myself and others are all now racing on PC, but we are still here too, I have invested in a new Xbox and wireless mic and the only game installed is Forza...Look at is this way, we are renting the house next door to make it easy for folk to visit smiley

That comment pretty much sums up what we are trying to achieve. We don't want to break any community up, more bring it all together and in turn get new members for everyone.
