Fun With phRED - Turn 10 Community Bounty
New T10 bounty for this week. I've shared a Ford Pinto with setup and livery from DirtT in the West garage.
Since then M3Rocket has sent me a better setup that I'll be applying tonight and re-sharing. Here's the info from phRED.
There are several side contests for unicorns as well but I haven't seen anything in the thread that indicates if and what the prize car is for beating his final time.

Well here we are...it's showtime...lol. LOTS TO READ BEFORE YOU START...check it all out before you post like a mad person...or not.A little history for those of you who don't know my story, I was a graphic designer who stumbled upon a Clint Eastwood paint job someone did in Forza 2 and was amazed. I soon joined the forums to pick up tips and made it my job to learn how to use the in-game editor. Took me a month or so to gain the confidence to show my work but once I did I was hooked into the community aspects of this franchise. Now I spent about 10 months, mostly in the Fantasy section of the forums painting and helping others then I got an email from Landin asking if I was interested in doing designs for a pro gaming series. Here is a look at my gallery from Forza 2.
No sooner did I reply to that email do I get another one from Che, the community manager. He wanted to know if I was interested in a job with Turn 10...I still have that email...lol. After a quick interview, I packed up my life and moved across the country. Funny thing about my interview was that I spent more time with the guy who designed the livery editor than I did in the interview with Che, he wanted to know more things about how I used the editor then I got questions about the job..
I have seen just about everything revolving around the community but sometimes you folks do surprise me. Hard to believe it has been almost 5 years it has been a fun ride…now on to the HUNT.

Now my act of shame if I get defeated by 5,000 people is I will have to take a picture wearing all the Boston Red Sox gear my comrades can bring in and have my photo taken. If I do have to do this, the second photo you see will be all that crap burning in the parking lot…lol.

There's also a Gremlin X tune for those that do not have the Pinto downloadable. The AMX Gremlin is a downloadable as well, but it is FREE. It's not quite as quick as the Pinto, but drives about the same with slightly less grip overall.
I'll get the DirtT Gremlin X to all 2O4F Garage leaders tonight for the club garages. Meanwhile, you can download them from my SF for free. Either of the Pinto tunes got me into the 1:05's. The newer one was over 0.75 seconds faster for me.

I belive the Pinto is in the Euro garage. Kindley donated to us by DirT.
Also the rest of the cars I have uploaded in to the Euro garage are for Rival events. All the tunes and paints are from DirT.
His new time to beat is 1:10.295
Currently sitting at 1:10.603 with the Flowtech Pinto.

Thanx for the kudos on the DirtT tunes. Credit goes to the DirtT team of tuners and painters (we all learn a lot from each other!)--I'll be sure to pass it on.
Sent the DirtT Gremlin X over to the respective garage leaders for use in the club garage. It is capable of 1:08's, but you'll have to really push it to get that out of the Gremlin. Mid 1:09's are easier to achieve, but my bet is that phRED will be jumping into a Pinto soon. Regardless, the Gremlin is still quite fun to drive around even if it isn't as fast. And for the faster drivers on here, would be a good challenge to see if you can get into the 1:08's in it.

He's not done yet, his time is now 1:08.208. Looks like I will have to put the Forza disk back in. I'm sitting at 1:08.298. I should be able to get in the 1:07s without too much problem.
Are there any changes to the Pinto tune that I need to know about?
You should have two Pinto tunes. Both are capable of 1:05's, but the last one I sent is the faster one. It's longered geared to run Positano mostly in 2nd and 3rd.
Has anyone seen what the car is yet? I'm not prone to hopping thru hoops without a confirmed reward...

Not interested...and I got one of the Mazda's as well, I thought most did.
Sigh, I've got four Spirit R's, and thats even after I sold one back to the game for a whopping 13grand. Didn't they give them out for pre-ordering and also in some other big community wide giveaway?
I was hoping for the Ferrari 430 since that's the only one that I have left to hunt, even though I should have received one for the Mechberg Tuning comp. I guess he got lazy to the point that he couldn't even be bothered to give out a whopping 10 unicorns of choice for the winners of that, but instead just gave out whatever the hell he wanted to.
Guess I'll stick with my :06.3, as I could really care less about this now.

phRED already has a "secret" time he's using as the cutoff for "winning" the Unicorn. This is a concession to those who don't have or can afford buying the Pinto. If I had a couple of guesses, it'll probably be something along the lines of any time in the Top 5000 or something like that will get the Unicorn. Or anyone who beat a time he set in the Gremlin that he's done on another GT.
He's aiming for 1:06's with the Pinto and will likely get there on Sunday according to him.
if i wasted countless hrs getting into the 1.07's to recieve another spirit type r my forza disc will turn into a freesbie for my dog, unless they agree to trade the 3 i already have and dont use for an 04 mugen civic :)
I already have two RX-7's but I'm not going to be beaten by a T10 employee if I can help it.
Voted for the LP640 myself. I have the JPM one but I'd like one without any special livery.
Also submitted a Rivals idea. Hopefully that will get me the Lambo. It may also make me the hunted.

Yea. 1.06.376 is his new time. Screw that. I was running 1.07.6xx dirty last night but I don't think I have a 1.06 in me.
Fortunately, phRED did say in the middle of that the Unicorn time is 1:06.376 + 8 seconds or thereabouts. That way, people who didn't get the DLC Pinto can also win the Unicorn. His Pinto times are just for bragging rights and to avoid losing the side bet where he has to wear SOX garb. I think he thought of that "compromise" on the fly when the complaints started coming in once he jumped into the Pinto. Or maybe that's what he planned all along.
If you're under 1:10, you're quite safe for getting the Unicorn. Use the Flowtech Pinto and it should get you there. If you want more of a challenge, try the Gremlin X--that's what I used to set my time. Probably going to see whether I can eek out another 0.5 second from the Gremlin and then leave it at that.
Regardless, that thread is dominated by a handful of guys who seem to have a post (or more!) on every page anyway. And the scroll rate is way too high and things are easily missed.
Looks like phRED's final time is a 1:05.840 in the Pinto but I haven't seen him post the time from his other GT that will be used to determine Unicorn winners.
Side note, it looks like phRED finally gifted out the Jag's from Autumn Fallout.

It'll be my third RX-7, but at this point any unicorn is a duplicate. The Lambo LP640 is the last one I need w/o a special livery.
I hope so too especially if it could be timed to coincide with the Monterey Historics.
And secretly I've been wanting Sadioki to create a 100 mil fredit bounty on me. :-)
I've been tossing around ideas on how to run the CBH if I do get chosen.
1. Community chooses my car.
For the most part I have a good idea what cars will be eligible once they're tuned to A600. I'd create a poll with five cars (The Cobra, Daytona and three others) and ask the community to pick my ride. Ideally I'd want to do this a day or two before the contest starts. Whatever car they pick I'd run my first lap stock and slowly upgrade the car through the week until I set my final time at A600.
2. Handicaps
Following the theme of the last couple CBH's I would prefer to run all out, but I'd set a few handicaps to slow me down a touch.
* The chosen car will probably be the slowest of the five.
* I'll turn off the braking line. It'll take me a bit longer to find my rhythm while I figure out new reference points.
* I won't use the clutch. That's worth a few tenths at least.
3. Tiered reward
No matter how fast or slow I go, someone won't be happy with my final time. There would be two prize cars. One for beating my time and one for setting a time within 107% of my final time.
So if I set a 1:35.000 at Laguna, a player could set a 1:41.65 and get something.
Haven't figured out what the prize cars should be. To keep with the Shelby theme maybe a nicely tuned/liveried Series 1. Maybe T10 would throw in the GT500 unicorn. Who knows?
4. Cobra Photo Contest.
These are always popular, but I had a random thought that it would be kinda cool if one or more individuals from Shelby America would judge the competition. It's an easy enough email to send out, but would it carry more weight if T10 sends it. Haven't figured out the reward yet but it would be either a car, credits or both.
As you can see, I haven't put any thought into this. :-)
