Found a design flaw over the weekend

I would consdier this a bit of a design flaw...

I was doing the end of Act 2 boss fight and just couldn't kill that fucker.  Ended up with all my stuff smashed and broken with no way to repair any of it because you're locked into an area with no merchants.  The more broken your stuff is the less damage you do and the more you take so you get deminishing returns.

Only way I could figure out to get around running around with no armor and weapons and fix my stuff was go hop into someone elses game, repair, then hop back into mine.

Guess you didn't have a game save before the boss fight?

@Claw : the game has no save points, just checkpoints and it doesn't revert your gear to what it was @ the previous checkpoint.

@LB : I didn't try and town portal but I did try and walk back to the Hidden camp but the gateway to go there was gone.  I assumed because of the evacuation, everyone was gone/hiding.

Then I am glad I'm not playing this as I would be one pissed off camper without game saves.

Portal would have gotten you where you needed to be with little frustration.

Yep, you can port out at any point before fighting the boss, then repair, and go back to try again.  Trust me I did this SEVERAL times on nightmare mode...

The checkpoint system isn't too bad but certainly not as convenient as save anywhere/anytime.  Everything you do is a multi-part quest so every milestone you get a checkpoint.

Where it blows is if you loose connection while you're exploring a new wide open area.  I spent an hour waundering around killing everything, finding dungeons to explore and i also found the quest dungeon.  Then i lost my connection and wheni re-started, the entire area was hidden again and I had to do it all again.  That's where the checkpoint system really shows it's weakness.  And you can't idle either, the game disconnects you after like 30 minutes idle time even if you're playing alone which is stupid as well.
