Fable Team looses key people

The brothers Carter have reunited, and it must feel good. Former Lionhead staffers Dene and Simon Carter have made good on their promise to form a new UK-based studio, aptly calling the venture Another Place Productions, according to Gamasutra. The pair were key players in the development of the Fable franchise, and bring with them a number of other essential players from that team.

Former art director John McCormack, technical director Guillaume Portes, and executive producer Jeremie Texier have all stepped away from their former home at Lionhead to join Another Place.

Simon Carter left his position last year, after co-founding the Lionhead satellite studio, Big Blue Box, which was responsible for the Fable series. Eventually, all satellite studios were absorbed into Lionhead as one complete entity, which is owned by Microsoft. At the time of his departure, Carter said he hoped to work on games for digital platforms like XBLA, PSN, Steam, and mobile titles, but it's unclear what Another Place will work on first.

It's unclear how their departure will affect development of the upcoming Kinect-specific title Fable: The Journey, which is scheduled to launch at some point this year, which we're hoping works out better than Fable 3 did.

I played the first and third Fable games. While the 3rd was an exelent vehicle to torture the X, it still sucked as much as the first.

I like the fable games but the 3rd one was clearly rushed out the door and felt like it had pieces ripped from it like Kinect integration.  As far as I know it STILL has a game ending bug in it.  I won't play another Fable game unless they take a least 2 years to make it.  Th eone thing i like about them though is they're 30-40 hour experiences.  I love RPGs but I can't do many of those 100+ hour bad boys that's why i skpped skyrim, too much of a time committment.

Skyrim can only be a 20 hour game if just go through the main story.  The game is just too fucking epic not to spent 100+ hours though.

I enjoyed all the Fable games so far.  In order of enjoyement for me it went 2>1>>3.  Fable 3 wasn't bad, but it could have been so much more.  I still feel I get my money's worth out of them and have never been disappointed in any of them for what it's worth.

I enjoyed Fable but it couldn't compete with other games like Fallout and now of course Skyrim. The other developers had to say to themselves, "Oh fuck you Bioware, now how do we compete with THAT beast"??

The answer of course is to step it up, we shall be expecting great things.

All I know is that after having several hundred hours in the Fallout franchise I'm feeling a little wierd not having had even one CTD with Skyrim. That game is stable as hell even with all of the mods I'm using (PC BtW).
