[DEF] Contracts Info

It took me a bit to understand what contracts were so I thought i'd share how they work in case other people don't konw they exist or how they work.

First, your EGO needs to be 250.  Until then, you won't see the contracts or accumulate any credit towards them.

When you do get to 250 EGO, if you pull up your radial menu > Goals > LB and you'll be on the contracts screen.  You'll see a list of the 5 factions and if you expand each, you'll see the current contracts available.  To star twith, your rep is Unknown and you have 0 points, as you progress you'll see a progression bar and your Unknown status will change.

Contracts are time limited, when you pull each one up it'll show you how many hours or days there are left to complete it.  They also reset seemingly every server reboot and 24h so you may get the opportunity to do the same contract more than once which is nice because you'll already know wher to go/what to do for it.  There are both daily contracts and more in depth weekly contracts to complete.

Your status with each faction starts at 'unknown' and will progress thru different levels to Ally rank (i'm still uknown so not sure how many poitns it takes to change your status, i assume 100 but don't know for sure).

Contracts sometimes are specific and sometimes vague.  As an example, one contract is collect 50 skitterling hides.  So you just drive around and kill skitterlings, this contract is easy and quick.  But another contract could be collect 25 scopes from soldiers at Delta Bunker.  I ran D.B. East and West and never once found these items.  Or I partially did one that required you kill hulks, well hulks are random environmental spawns so this one is a real time sink unless you run one of the co-op missions 10 times that has a hulk as end-boss.  Also it seems like a significant number of contracts are in San Francisco, you don't get there until close to the end-game.  There's usually one contract for completing one of the co-op maps and there are usually two contracts related to playing multi-player.

You REP is spent (yes spent) at venders.  After you get to 250 EGO you'll start seeing venders with really cool stuff for sale but it'll require not only Script but also a certain level of Rep to purchase the item. I had thought the Rep number was what level you needed to be and so if it said 200 rep andy ou ere 200 you could buy anything.  But in fact if your rep is 200 and you buy something for 200 rep, your rep goes down to 0 after.  Though your overall rep progression with factions remains unchanged.

My thoughts:

I'm not really sure this is worth paying too much attention to until end-game.  The reason being is currently when you max out the XP of a specific weapon, you can no longer accumulate XP for tha weapon class.  So you have to ditch that maxed gun and get a new one.   So it doesn't make sense to me to spend Rep points on weapons until you're at the end of the game and the gear you've got is pretty much what you're going to roll with and your weapon class xp and bonuses are maxed.  Early game, maybe a grenade or a shield is the best use of spending Rep.

It's a fancy way for Trion to say "Dailies", and something I tend to avoid and dislike in most MMOs.  Usually they end up in a subscription game as a way to keep subscriptions.  Limits how much the player can progress because of the time limit, yet clearly sets the amount of time to reach a certain end goal.  This is an easy way for the business people to see that players who do dailies are staying subscribed for an amount of time the company can set, in a way.  Odd to have it in a buy to play game, but not unheard of because of paid DLC and multiple 'seasons'.
