Is the Wireless Transforming D-Pad controller worth it? $64.99
Special Edition Wireless Chrome Series with Transforming D-Pad, but no Play and Charge Kit which I need. $54.99 (At the Microsoft store it retails for $59.99 and has the play and charge kit.)
Special Edition Wireless White, no Play and Charge Kit. $49.99
If you don't mind a cable, I'd go with a Razor Onza. Better D pad, adjustable sticks and shorter travel on button presses. the chord is pretty long and has a break away connection. The only thing I don't like is that the cable is braided. It tends to bind up.
The D pad blows no matter which Microsoft controller you buy. But i'd recommend you watch for sales, watch dealcatcher.com or a similar website and wait for a play and charge kit to go on sale for 40 of 50 bucks.
I have it and its a good controller, I've noticed that the battery life is much longer with this controller and it seems really well made. I have trouble now playing with anyother controller . I don't know if they reengineered this controller or not I haven't gotten a new controller in years so maybe thats why it feels so good.
I had one of the earliest ones, and my experience was very bad. I could not get my battery pack to work, and I quickly damaged one of the face buttons. Mine felt lighter than my original controllers. I'm not saying the controller was defective, they make very good stuff, but I regret the purchase.
I'm with Buckeye on the Razor. Those two mappable buttons up top come in handy very often.
All Razer products are awesome. They are made very well and are supprisingly resistant to beer and blunt force.
I can't speak from personal experience, but I've heard that the Onza Razor controllers are not terribly reliable. I know of a few within 2o2p that have had issues with theirs. But the concensus is that they are great when they work.
I have one of the silver xbox controllers with the convertable D-pad. I've had it about 6 months and it's been good so far. My two previous wireless xbox controllers both started drifting on the right stick.
Thinking about picking up either the Razor or one of the Madcatz precision aim ones.
