The Beep man!

A strange little Sim Racing job has come up, I use a display dashboard called...The Dash, from Siminstruments. A great piece of kit that is a little hamstrung by the fact it does not yet support rFactor one or two.

Well an email to the developers revealed the fact that the rF1 software was in Beta and did I want to test it...Well of course I did. They have added a bleep that sounds when it is time to change gear, one of the most irritating bleeps I have ever heard. I mentioned this and half in jest the Devs said "Well make us better ones" Huh, a challenge. So I am. The entire power of my recording studio is now being bent to the production of....Beeps. Not as easy as you would think, I mean to come up with a sound that is not going to drive you up the wall is...well not easy. I'm using my bank of synths finding sounds that seem close then converting to .wav and tinkering with the ASDR and EQ to get something mellow that will still be heard over the engine. Interesing...well to me anyway :)

Idea seems like a good tool for a beginner learning manual.  There's a mod on nogripfor race 07 a while back that used a subtle sound to indicate shifts.  You should see if you can round it up and possibly give you some ideas for this project

Oh all I have to do is just run through hundreds of Synh patches...well slight exageration as many are obviously of no use. Sound is my thing so have more than enough ideas. It's mostly just the topping and tailing of the samples that consumes the time.
