A few more pieces of info came out from E3. You will be able to play the bass portions using a standard guitar, the game will emulate the bass for you. This is pretty cool for those who are interested but want to try it out before buying a new instrument (myself included). Also the bass DLC will give you access to the bass tracks for all the songs in the game, including any DLC you have already purchased. There will be technique challenges for the bass. You will be able to play co-op with both guitar and bass. In conjuction with the DLC, a patch will be released that "will fix freeze issues as well as revised DLC Store menu, manual speed controls, etc!" Also the PC version will be available this fall.

me too. something different. Never picked up a bass before but have always been in awe of the Steve Harris', Cliff Burtons and Getty Lees of the world.

Fortunately, the gent that I'm taking lessons from has turned out to be quite a good buddy so "borrowing" a bass wont be a problem.
