Consistancy plays a huge part in placement in the race when everyone is so close. In the heat races you ran a couple :45:7xx's which is quick for that room. Now... if a person makes a mistake and loses a spot, well things can go from bad to worse in a hurry. All of a sudden a person trys to hard and starts making more mistakes and so on. I have been there more times than I can remember.

After running a couple test laps at Laguna, wow is that ever gonna be a different race!!

Armor...You are 100% right..I really don't even know why I discuss handicaps because I know better. Here is how it will be for me..I will run the prilimary races as fast as I can and let the Category fall as it may...I will not show up at the last minute and pick my own category. Those who run the race will pick it for me. Until someone comes up with a foolproof idea of handicaps it is what it is. Fun and Fair is the name of the game...We got to police ourselves as well as those who cannot!coollaughlaughcool

This is so true.

For 5 laps or more laps  in the middle of the race I was keeping in proximity to I think Surf and Cilletti and just ahead of Wheels.  Would close in some spots and loose time in others but was aware of folks the whole time.  Then I had 2 smaller offs and 1 major and suddenly I'm 2000 ft behind with no way of catching up.

I still had a ton of fun and for me, a few laps where I am able to have a little proximity racing make it all worthwhile participating for me.

Away on vacation in NZ shortly but will catch up with everyone in the New Year.

Have a good holiday season folks.

That was definitely a fun race last night. I had the same sometime Skiwi, where I chased Surf's car all night, and could never get closer than about 75 feet- then missed the Apex on turn and oops back to 300-500 ft. At least I didn't flip it...:-) Great fun guys. Kraigger, that tune is unbelievable- drives Like it's on rails. I how toy can get my GT car to handle like that :-) .

Reminds me of a funny story that isn't very well known...Did you know that Surf frequently let's his cat steer his car for him when he's racing? It's true, I seen it with my own eyes; Of course I saw toonses drive the car off the cliff but is that any worse than what Surf would do? I think not.

They should make a category lower that ametuer for my driving skills. wink  I was consistent though...consistently running in back.  The bounce off of the final turn wall and caused me to swerve into the pits was pretty funny though.  I still had a good time trying to improve my lap times.  It felt like I was driving the wheels off of the car on a few of the laps, but still didn't manage to get in the :45.XXX's on any of the 40 laps.

I use the Microsoft Wheel and Pedals.  It feels like the brake on my pedals doesn't have a "happy medium".  I try to brake easy and still skid slightly in most turns.  This takes significant momentum and time from my laps.  When I really try to be easy, I run off the track because I am going to fast into the turn.  I tried adding a stiffer spring to the pedals a while back and it didn't help any.  Can anybody offer any suggestions?

You know my answer Concunado: "Load cell Brake"

Just cough up the cash and upgrade. If not - practice, practice, practice. Then practice some more.

With the load cell, your muscle memory has to remember the brake pedal pressure. - Easier

With Potentiometer (Pot) your muscle memory has to remember the brake pedal distance. - Not as easy.

With the load cell, it's more of a "Feel" and easier to repeat. With that said, we are both getting our asses kicked by guys with controllers. 166

When I used to have the MS Wheel, I cut a square of sponge (from one of those square dish washing sponges with the scourer on top) and pushed it down under the brake pedal arm, it worked a treat! I've also heard of people cutting a squash ball in half and using this in the same way! Maybe worth a try :-) Mapo.

With those pedals.. Do yourself a favor and just turn on the anitlock brakes and use it to the fullest. By that I mean set yourself up into corners outside to inside corner, brake hard and in a straight line and brake in deep because doing it this way you are braking a little later and using more distance to slow the car but it does it in highly predictable and repeatable rate. With practice you can get pretty good at it in all situations and still run nice times. I went thru 4 sets of ms pedals trying using all kinds of methods to try to slow the rate, give more resistence, but futile compared to just giving in and using abs.

Side note wow a GT2 and clubsports? If anyone needs a good rig I recommend this wheel and pedals highly! It's a great wheel and all Alcantra is the bomb!

I agree brntguy.  I use MS wheel and pedals with the ABS turned on.  Without the ABS, all I seem to do is lock the front end and slide through the corner.  You can spend some time to get the brake pressure right on each and every tune, but that takes too much time as it seems really inconsistent depending on the weight of the car.  I also try to avoid the brakes as much as possible and use the gears to help slow me down.

Thanks to all you bastards who think I was sandbaggin' last night with the pro-am handicap.  LOL.  Anyone who I have been usually racing with (Kochino Tuesday's and Pro-Am Thursday's), knows I generally drive myself into a consistent mid-field position (6th to 8th[ish]).  Usually due to a multitude of small mistakes and at least one bigger one.  That tune was awesome Kraigger and was the reason I was able to have one of my very few (mostly) mistake free races.  I'll join in earlier next week to help with the handicapping.  Can't wait to see what you do with the tune for Laguna!!

I loved that track and tune. It was also nice being "Pro" for the first time (patting myself on the back). Unfortunately my wheel took a shit shortly after the caution and I had to exit the race early. Luckily I didn't take anyone out in the process. I'm really looking forward to Laguna. Hopefully Kraigger and Armor can work out another great tune for that one as well.  Armor, let us know your Laguna times so we can figure out which level to practice in again. - Justin

Great race last night guys.  Had loads of fun chasing brnt.  Had a great fight with InkaBod for the last 5-10 laps...close racing...with him scooting past me for position on the last lap.  Great Fun !!    Thanks Kraigger !!!!

Great race last night everyone!

The results are up.

I will have a tune up for everyone either today or tomorrow.  Just want Armor and Brnt to give it a go before I post it (I am getting 1.40.0xx almost 1.39.xxx in it in Amateur).

Took a 4 laps around Laguna this morning (online lobby - Veteran(not in hotlap)) and got a high 1:42:xxx low 1:43:xxx. These were my first laps so the time should come down a little. The big issue will be the handicap on this track. There are some long straights and uphills that the power handicap is brutal. Once again this will prove to be an exciting race, can't wait.....

P.S. I will run laps with anyone if you see me online, anyone can send a FR, I have lots of room. I guess that may mean no one likes me and I have no friends crying

Great race DBrown, you sand bagging son of a bitch! cheeky

I haven't been in the club very long but been in enough races to know that everyone enjoys some good shit talking and it's all in fun.

Now what are we going to call Armor when he wins as a Veteran? I'll you you guys fill in that one.

Robert you can also use the hard rubber that is used on beach flip flops , cut to the inside size of the spring but leave about 1/2 inch space from the top of the rubber to the inside top of the spring holder this should give you some stiffer progession as you press the brake pedal. Or save some cash and buy a fanatec wheel and I can then sell you a set of G27 pedals that will work with the fanatec wheel perfectly. Those G27 pedals have alot of mods that can be added to them. Go to this website ( Inside sim racing) here you can find several people selling all types of sim racing gear very inexpensive. You can also find alot of DIY info on finding solutions to better sim racing gear. Like my idea of using flip flop material for your pedal. Don't be discourged with your racing I to started way back in the pack when I first started playing forza4 to the point where I was being laped (not a good feeling!) . One thing I can say is that ever since I started racing with 2old4forza members my driving has improved by leaps and bounds. At times I still end up in the back . I can now say that I have more middle of the pack finishes and on rare occasions a few 1st and 2nd place finishes mostly in public lobbies.  Make sure to take some driving lessons from tourni and or J.cotter very helpful and it will give you a better idea of your driving lines and  brake control. J.cotter also uses a microsoft wheel and  he's one of the better drivers in the group. Good Luck !

P.S Excellent race on Tuesday . Last 3 laps me and surf where neck and neck until the very last lap....Sorry surf.

See you all on Tuesday.
