Ahhh ok so they divided up the development costs of the whole ship/water stuff between AC3 and AC4.  AC3 was more a proof of concept build and it'll probably be more refined in AC4.

I'm excited about the theme of the game, but after the clusterfuck that AC3 ended up being, this one is a pass for me.

One other interesting thing is it's coming in the end of OCT and coming to 'next gen' consoles.  So is it a launch title for Xbox720/PS4 or are the new consoles potentially coming mid octoboer instead of november like I would expect.

I am excited about AC4.  I think very little of ACIII.  BUT, here is the cavet on that.  We had such little time between AC2 and ACIII to let go of Ezio that I don't think we were ready to embrace a new ancestor yet.  That and Connor was extremely weak in character developement when compared with Ezio.  And since there was such little time between the two, we enevitably were going to do those compairisons.

Also, while I think AC could use a break for a few years (and I thought that Ubisoft said there was going to be a two to three year break between ACIII and ACIV) I can understand the studio wanting to capitolize on putting out another AC game.  ACIII was a roaring success saleswise.  Critically and Player Feedback, it is the weakest of them all.  The last think Ubisoft needs is a two to three year break with their most profitable franchise after the players of the universe panned the last game.  It would hurt their sales even more in the long run because players would have those two to three years to think of the ACIII game.  We are a forgiving bunch, so long as it can be done quickly.  If we have the time to think about it, we aren't as likely to forgive.  We won't forget, but we will forgive.

I would bet that ACIV does as well, or better, saleswise as ACIII.  And, as a GIANT fan of the franchise, here is hoping that it gets back on track storywise too.  Because I miss the days of Brotherhood.  I think that Ubisoft did a HUGE disservice to us taking out the puzzles and tombs to explore.  It made it fun to find everything and get that backstory.  And for the people who didn't want it, it was completely optional.  I hope they add that stuff back into ACIV.  There is a HUGE opportunity to do so with the pirates theme.
