April's Rival Events
Information on the next set of Rival events -
• Coming To America -- After many impressive finishes in 2011, the Mercedes-Benz #35 Black Falcon SLS AMG GT3 has come to America to take on the legendary elevation changes and sharp turns of Road America. Each week, one hundred randomly selected players taking part in the Coming To America Rivals event will win a 2002 BMW M3-GTR, a “unicorn car” available only from Turn 10. The April Alpinestars Pack will be required to participate in this event.
• Drive Like It's 1999 -- The 1990s brought the world many wonderful things such as the love of flannel, slow running lifeguards, and the panic that was Y2K. Most of all it brought us some amazing cars. Take to the Top Gear drag strip in a selection of these fine automobiles to see which car comes out as the best of the '90s. Tuning setups are allowed within restrictions.
• Rotary di Positano -- Felix Wankel developed the Wankel engine in the 1950s and Mazda refined the engine in the RX series of automobiles. Put those rotary engines to the test as you drift around the scenic backdrops of the Amalfi Coast. Tuning setups are allowed within restrictions.
• Cone Killer Mugello -- Taming the power of these supercars will be important as you weave through the cones in this Autocross challenge on Mugello. Precision driving will be your key to victory in this event. Tuning setups are allowed within restrictions.
• Forza Tourenwagen -- Get ready for the German touring cars when they roar back into action later this month by hitting the track at Hockenheim in your own touring car. Push the limits as you chase down your rival in a field full of high-performance German race cars.
• Suzuka Sportbacks -- European hatchbacks take to one of the most famous tracks in Japan to see which one will dominate on the island nation’s historic speedway. Tuning setups are allowed within restrictions.

Blech.. Autocross... The rest sound like a lot of fun!
That Mercedes R3 car is fun to drive around this awesome track.
Parcells found himself without a bridge game on a Tuesday night so decided it was time to practice for Sunday’s SIM race and to possibly check out the new rival events.
About half way through my 30 odd laps on Suzuka East I figured out the adjustment I needed so Parcells can turn the Meganne into the corners and was content with where I’m at.
Small break so lets go check out the Mercedes rival, figure I can put in half a dozen laps or so to qualify for the random unicorn prize. Hey looky my nemesis Fitzy has set a time already. I can’t let that opportunity pass me by so change up my default rival. Couple laps in I realize I could probably take him if I just put in a decent lap (my guess is Fitzy set his time in less then 10 laps if that many???).
20 laps later I’m still down a tenth but shocked I haven’t beat him yet and maybe just slightly pissed off but mostly at myself…EVERY friggin time I’m close to him in the first two turns I fuck it up because his ghost distracts me. If it wasn’t the first couple of turns it was the VERY last turn where Fitzy has one of his worse offs, all I need to do is calmly take the turn (assuming I’m right behind) and I got him no problem but I fuck that turn up and also dirty my next lap – swear out loud!. Rinse repeat
By this time it’s obvious my third sector is clearly faster then his (which is why I don’t think he did many laps) so all I have to do stay near him and stay calm and its over. Probably 4 laps of these 20 I should have had him but fucked up.
Can’t let it go so let’s have a smoke and give it another go. Another 15 laps and more of the exact same with probably another 3-4 laps where I should have taken him but his ghost fucked me up. 35 laps later I finally did beat him by a couple of tenths but there is easily another half a second in my lap so I choose another rival that is 2 seconds clear of us to get rid of the stupid ghost thinking another 3-4 laps might give Fitzy something worth shooting for.
Go figure but the rival I chose gained most of his time on the last sector so I was still having ghost issues playing with my head. Anyway another 15 more laps pass with much of the same mental case issues in my head a couple of those laps I was right behind heading into the third sector and my half a second was ripe for the taking but fucked it up yet again
So what started as an intended 20-30 minutes of hot lapping ended almost 2.5 hours later but it was fun in a torturous kind of way.
