Leveling without Forsaken is desperately slow. I'm trying out the new systems for future considerations. I'm getting a vibe that non-Forsaken players will dump the game. At least PvP is better than  what Bungie did with Halo. You get all the maps.

I learned a neat trick yesterday for avoiding infusion costs. Instead of infusing your favorite Year 1 gear to increase its power, you can just retrieve new copies of those items from your Collections screen. You get them at about the same power level that you are currently at, and the cost is much cheaper than infusing. However, it's best to wait until you really have a need for them (like for a raid or a Whisper run) so that you get them at the highest level possible.

Do the collection iems come out at the stated power level? Mine shows 10 points lower than my random pickups.

The Y1 items from collections do come in at lower power. I've used it to mainly infuse or reacquire Exotics that I want to use. You can't get Y2 legendary weapons from Collections.

Even without Forsaken, I've been collecting and using Y2 gear. Keeping Y2 copies in the vault does make sense for the random roll aspect. Infusing like in Y1 seems to be a mostly loser strategy. So expensive and I'm earning Cores at a pitiful rate.

These mixed gear systems must be pure hell for new players.

Forsaken's single player experience has been pretty compelling for me so far. I've played enough to make my hands ache, which hasn't happened for a long while. Just wanted to comment on the astronomical infusion costs. I actually like having them so high, because it gives me a reason to patrol the various zones. Patroling is probably my favorite single player activity, but beyond flashpoints, I pretty much haven't done it in Destiny 2 before Forsaken, simply because there was little point to it.

Now that we're back to random equipment drops, I want to start doing more weapon/armor testing. Probably in conjunction with my patroling. Any suggestions from you guys about how to test builds in a way that is efficient and fun? I mostly relied on advice from other people for builds in D1, but I'd like to do try doing more of my own testing.

It's tough to say what is good now. It depends on what perks each item has. Rampage is good for clearing small enemies. Kill Clip is good for taking down larger enemies. I especially like weapons that can be fired accurately, have good range, and have a fast reload time. We'll know more after the new Raid comes out on Friday. Players are not giving too much away right now due to the race for 'World First' raid completion.

Yeah, I just found out yesterday that the Collections gear is about 10 levels lower. Not great, but some weapons like Whiper of the Worm, DARCI, and Wardcliff Coil are still very good at that lower level. I sometimes get Masterwork Cores from dismantling Y2 gear. Also you can buy them from Spider for Legendary Shards, but the price doubles for each additional MCore that you get each day. So, I have just been buying one per day from Spider. I'm still kinda reeling from how much different the game is now, but I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually.

I think "god rolls" are fairly player specific. Some perks are better than others, but a lot comes down to personal style of play.

I have a Go Figure pulse rifle with Outlaw and Kill Clip which pair very well together, so this one is a keeper for me. I also like auto loading holster for heavy weapons. There is also a new perk called Genesis that reloads the weapon when you break a shield that is really good.

I have also been using the collectibles tab to upgrade my exotics as my power moves up, so do the collections and this helps.

Also, the Blind Well is pretty crazy - especially with use being under level. However if you can get in with others, it's fun. The Dreaming City as a whole is HUGE - so much to do!

This is the game we should have had last year.

Has anyone acquired Exotic drops? I haven't seen one since Forsaken released. I'm also pretty sure I haven't received any legendary engrams for deciphering by the Cryptarch.

I've gotten legendaries (but fewer than before), but no exotics yet. Then there's these new "prime engrams" that seem to be legendary engrams that drop above your light. I do think I've gotten some of those.

Exotics are very rare now and legendary engrams now auto decrypt. Prime engrams are basically powerful drops, but you need to get the "buff" from the cryptarch to increase your drop chances. Basically, just talk to him each day and you'll see it on your character screen.

I've had one Exotic drop - one of the new pieces of Warlock armor for the sublcass I don't have unlocked yet...lol

Cryptarch buff. Must be a Forsaken feature?

The buff is called "prime attunement". That's what you should be looking for on the character screen. Maybe it is a Forsaken feature. Aren't you still stuck with the lower power cap if you don't have Forsaken? If so, higher power engrams won't be much help.

My max power is 372 with equip coming in at 368.

I do most of the daily and weekly stuff and still maxing out Clan points. It's an extremely slow pace. Bungie definitely doesn't want you playing while waiting for a sale.

No exotics yet for me. I was also unaware of the Cryptarch buff, so thanks for the info.

I'm starting to like Gambit. I got a few invasion kills yesterday and also killed a Primeval, so that was good. I heard about a new 390rpm kinetic pulse rifle called Bygones that you can get from playing Gambit. I need to get that. The 390rpm pulses seem like some of the best weapons now, and I'm using pulse rifles a lot more now. I may even try to get the Redrix Broadsword this season.

Recently I heard about some Petra bounties that you can get after you finish the campaign which can boost your power level a lot. My Titan needs to finish the campaign this weekend and then start on those bounties. I made the mistake of focusing on leveling up before starting the campaign. That worked well in previous expansions, but not this one. I should have started the campaign sooner and finished it earlier instead. Many of my clanmates are way ahead of me in power level. At about 510-515, my Titan is not ready to do the raid today. Some of my clanmates are up in the 530s already.

Petra does offer the same type of powerful (Daily and Weekly) like the other vendors. Take note though that the Dreaming City has higher power level requirements for the activities.

The new raid is recommended 550 to start...cool

Wow, 550 is higher than I would have guessed. I'm still in the mid teens. I'm trying to not miss too many powerful engrams, because it feels wasteful, but I'm not really in a rush. So far the leveling experience has been pretty great. Here's hoping it continues.

The gear now including Exotics no longer have the 5 LL Legendary Mod boost.  Takes a little bit getting used to.

I watched some Last Wish raid videos on Youtube over the weekend. Redeem got World First completion again. It took them almost 19 hours to finish it. Very tough. I saw that Ehroar was using the Bygones pulse rifle, which is the one I want to get from Gambit. Also, I was surprised to see that Gladd used the new Go Figure 4-burst pulse rifle.

We also learned that you get a Seed of Light after completing the first encounter of the Last Wish raid which apparently allows you to unlock the 3rd subclass on your character. It's gonna be a while before I can attempt that. I finally unlocked the Dreaming City yesterday and got to level 520.

Bringing my 3rd character up to the soft cap.  Titan and Warlock are both at 518.  FInally got my Hunter up to level 46 (480) which allows me to pass over higher LL weapons.  That should make the final dash a little easier.

I saw a list of the first twenty or so teams to complete the raid, and was surprised to see that they were almost all on PC, with a sprinkling of PS and only one Xbox team. Wonder why that is?

I think the game just runs better on PC for the most part. Anybody else notice a big difference in loading into activities and character screens since the update? Yeah, it's pretty rough now. I do have an external HDD, but might switch to a SDD. However, I don't feel like I should have to do this just to make the game run better - this is on Bungie.

Also, these are the Destiny "pros" and they mostly all play on PC.

After reading some stuff on the new raid and seeing videos, I don't know when (or if) I'll get to try this new activity. There comes a point where stuff is just too "end game" and this new raid is chock full of all sorts of new mechanics that I think will be difficult for a lot of groups. We'll see once people have had more time with it and we get some good guides.

Thankfully, we have so much other stuff to keep us busy. I especially enjoy the Blind Well. Give it a shot if you've not been in there yet. Tier 2  (and above) is where you get a chance of your second seed of light. I got my second seed after about 6 clears on Tier 2, but's it's RNG.
