Warmind
Well, who is coming back to D2 for Warmind?
I am still casually playing a few hours a week, but the loot is so bad that I'm just doing it for materials...lol
I do say that I am encouraged by some of the changes coming with the DLC. Now the game still has a long way to go, but it finally seems like things are moving in the right direction.
I will come back on to do the stories and see what kind of challenges there are. I was signing on once a week to do a couple of the weekly challenges but the rewards have been redundant and blah so I've lost most all motivation to do even that. Hopefully the DLC wiil be more rewarding and more challenging.
I've paid for it, so I'll log in to check it out. My patience with them is pretty thin, though, so they'd better hit it out of the park on the first pitch or two.
This.
Of course, I haven't played a single game in about two weeks, so who knows. Hopefully life will slow down a little bit for me here soon.
Same as Zikan. Paid for it, so I might as well try it out.
Something feels different for me this time. I almost feel sick about leaving PUBG to spend any amount of time in D2. That's definitely unexpected.
The thing is that this DLC has been "done" for a while now, so the feedback from the recent community will be very minimal. I think the big update will come in September when there are supposed to be some fairly major changes to the game - not unlike what we had with TTK in D1.
I think what's coming with Warmind is good, but probably not enough to bring most of us back full-time.
Don't infuse new gear into existing gear if that new gear is prohibited for current use. What a disaster!
Oh really, what happened? Did it make your existing gear unusable?
I didn't really infuse anything until Level 30, so not sure what happens. You will reach Level 30 really fast, so you are probably better off waiting if there is a bug.
I will say though, the changes to exotic weapons are really good. Perks and stats have been updated on many weapons and some (not all) have the option to make it into a Masterwork. Finally a reason to start using exotics again!
I'm taking things slow since this is our last content drop until September.
Hopefully we still have enough people around to pull together a Raid group in the next week or so...
Gear became unusable. Power level dropped with each infusion. I didn't fully clue in until question marks appeared over enemy heads. I equipped other gear for workaround. Bungie only reported it two hours ago.
Enjoyed playing the new Campaign, but, as per usual, it was over all too soon. I'll run the other two characters, but am not sure how much more deep grinding I'll be doing.
Not hosting a Raid this time around, but would be available to join a team preferably on Fridays, 9-11 ET, possibly on Tuesdays, also 9-11 ET.
Count me in if you guys want to raid.
I went thru the campaign pretty quick as well. There are a few quests out there to follow, so those will take a little time and effort. I did record the 5 campaign missions so I will eventually upload commentary videos of those. Not sure though how much I want to grind to level up. Guess it will be Adventures and Strikes for that and maybe the raid fi there is interest for that.
Will play it by ear on the Raid: looks like I won't be available this Friday or next (May 11, 18, 2018). Will monitor the Halo Reach population for the next couple Tuesdays.
Well, Ikelos quest requires 5 Heroic Strikes. Tried that under 350. Nope. Time to grind on little shit. Maybe.
Fuck Bungie!
I liked some of the improvements - such as being to break down gear in your storage or the postmaster without having to put it in your inventory, but overall this expansion feels a lot like the last. Which means there's about 10 hours of content but not a lot of new experience. For some reason I thought that adding modifiers to the strikes meant we got to choose them, but I apparently misunderstood :) Based on running a few of them, it added to the pain, but not the gain. Not a formula I'm fond of. Maybe the new version of Archon's Forge will be fun, but I'm not holding my breath. Also, there's the "shoot the glowy circles with the right element modifier" thing that I'll probably try and finish, but I smell disappointment in my near future.
I like some of the exotic changes and quicker ability regen. Bungie warned us that being underleveled was going to hurt, a lot. They also said leveling would slow down after 345. The issue for me is, will the grind be entertaining or boring. It feels like it could be boring. The resonant freq grind and the memory fragment grind look kind of lengthy.
The Heroic strikes are just torture, especially since many of us are basically stuck at 345 and the strikes are 350. I tried it last night with Solar burn, Grounded and Grenadier and I got wrecked in a strike that was just Vex and Cabal (lots of Solar damage). I rage quit after not even being able to get through half the activity in 20 minutes.
I don't mind activities being hard, but this new system of gaining levels is just barbaric. Usually, one activity can lead to the next, tougher, activity. Right I feel like I have not idea how to get past 345 and this is discouraging.
I will certainly grind out the new weapons and shoot the glowy targets, so that should entertain me for a bit.
Who knows about the raid. I never even finished the first two raid activities.
I think Bungie is in for a very harsh lesson. I surmize they were listening to the wrong type of player for D2 activities. They also seem to have forgotten that fans with 4 years of experience might be tired of boring confusing grinds.
They're still pushing that clan shit and shepherding. We didn't have it in D1 but the popularity of the game brought people together anyway. Don't waste resources building that shit into the game.
Activision says the Comet release is going to have 'never before seen' FPS activities. Sales pitch for a failing game.
I haven't tried the heroic strikes yet but have gone into one heroic activity. The enemies turned into bullet sponges and I got continually waxed. Not fun. Other than running my other characters thru I think I will back off this game and just do the flashpoint, clan, and (maybe) crucible weekly activities to bump my characters up. In other words, going from a daily activity to a weekly activity or use as a break from other stuff.
Overall not impressed.
I plan to be around tonight if any of you are interested in teaming up and shooting at stuff. :)
The Fequency code grind is a little interesting. There is a 3 word area hint and then you're on your own.
I found a well hidden Memory terminal. No code. I found it because of an enemy radar blip but no enemy in sight.
So, grind for the little shit, to make bigger shit for shit knows what shitty purpose. Small pleasures can be found from this I guess.
If my grind becomes weekly versus daily then max power is months away. No Raid/Lair or Nightfall.
Well, shit
Looks like the minimum recommended level for the Raid is 370. Won't be playing that any time soon, even if I were motivated to start up a group. Guess I'll be doing the slow, leisurely grind, myself.
Hammer, I think your feelings are those held by many, including me. Bungie has already stated they know the game needs a lot of work. Warmind was pretty much done before they could really address any real issues with the game.
I think many of us will be waiting to see how the upcoming expansion in the Fall turns out. I would think it's a make or break for the Destiny franchise.
Nightfall may not be as bad as I predicted, for the moment. It's 270. I don't know if simply finishing it is considered a win. I was at the final boss with zero points after an hour before I gave up.
The first Heroic Mars Adventure was tricky but do-able solo. How anything other than a Solar Titan could do it, is beyond my comprehension.
I was able to run it with a solar Warlock. I may go back in and run it with my solar Titan. An interesting side note -- I never finished the Osiris campaign with my Warlock, and being bored, went back in and ran the final 2 missions to complete that campaign. My reward was a 352 item! (ran it at 346). That got me up to 347. I may go back and run my 3rd character (Hunter) through Warmind, then go back and run it through Osiris to see if I can get another 352 item. Besides, I need the glimmer.
The Heroic strikes are doable but a lot depends on the daily modifiers AND if people actually play to those modifiers.
In case you didn't know, Heroic strikes have a weekly "Singe" where a damage type (void, solar, or arc) is increased (both for and against you), this stays in place all week. Also, there are two additional modifiers that change daily. These daily modifiers will be a modifier that will provide a benefit and one to provide an additional challenge.
This means, pay close attention to these daily modifiers as it can make a big difference in how the strikes play. The other big difference is the strike. If you get a strike with a lot of Vex, solar burn is going to be a real challenge. If you get a strike with mostly Hive - you'll have less incoming solar damage to worry about.
Also, it helps greatly to get people that actually pay attention to these details and set-up their characters accordingly...lol
I haven't tried the Nightfall this week. If anybody is up for it, I should be around tonight and would like to give it a shot.
I just read the IKELOS weapon quest in the Heroic Strikes doesn't always work. You need 5 strikes with the IKELOS weapon equipped to meet the quest step. That's disheartening information.
I heard about that too DEEP. Thankfully all 5 of mine counted. I believe you need to make sure it says Heroic Strikes at the bottom of the screen when queuing up for the strike. If not, back out and restart the search.
I think that works?
