Sounds like Crucible is the way to go, especially if you are running solo, like I do during the day. Running heroic strikes with randoms is definitely more painful than the Crucible.
After you hit 365 light, progress slows down a lot. I can confirm that Crucible is dropping items that are above 365 light. You don't get something useful every round, but good options are limited after 365 light.

Confirmed for me as well - these are the options I've found thus far for 365+:
Crucible drops, Rep packages and Shaxx weekly bounty
Vanguard and Faction packages
Heroic Strike chests - the ones that take the skeleton key to open
Archon's Forge - I got a 369 class item last night from a 320 offering - but this is VERY hit or miss
Exotic engrams
Wrath of the Machine raid (duh...lol)
I'm not sure about the Nightfall since I have yet to complete it, but I'm thinking it can give over 365. I am also not sure about what Eris, Petra and Varkis "faction" packages will drop - perhaps somebody here can tell us.
Eris gave me a 367 artifact the other day. She will be painful to level up, but melting Kagoor over and over was actually rather satisfying.
Variks is only supposed to drop up to 365 according to the launch notes. Which I thought was a little sad as the CoE is out dated once you go over 365. I only got 365 gear from him, but I think I was just a point or two lower than his max at the time.
And I'm no where near a Petra level yet to test.
And the nightfall this week is winter's run with small arms, chaff, berserk, and airborne...
Anyone have tips on how to get into an active Archon's Forge session? I enjoy playing it....when it happens. This morning it was almost completely dead. I finally got one random to help me with the green offering I had, and that was the end of it. I have tried repeatedly re-entering the forge from various distances (bottom of stairs, outside building, next zone over), but have not found a good way to find active sessions yet.

A trick we used for finding active players in Court of Oryx may work in Archon's Forge. The trick is to not run into the instance but to walk. I know this sounds strange, but the theory is that walking gives the instance more time to load and thus find active players.
We tried it last night with minimal results.
I'm extremely disappointed with the Forge. CoO worked well enough and I could find players on most occasions, plus the rune and tier system worked much better. Bungie also needs to increase the drop rate of offerings. We shouldn't be forced to leave the Forge after one or two encounters because people do not have offerings.
Oh and they need to fix the loot drops.
The Forge is fun when you can actually find players AND people actually have offerings to use.

Strike that. Nightfall has been changed to Fallen S.A.B.E.R because Winter's Run wasn't dropping skeleton keys.
