King's Fall Raid, Fri, September 9
Sign up here for the King's Fall raid on Friday, September 9 at 9pm Eastern/ 6pm Pacific. No raid experience necessary, but you should be at least 300 light and have a decent, high-impact sniper, like the 1000 Yard Stare for sale at the Vanguard vendor. We usually run for about two hours more or less. If you need to change plans, we understand, but post here again as soon as possible so we can find a replacement. If there are already six participants, please consider signing up as an alternate. Stuff happens, even at the last minute.
In for NM, Alt for HM.
In.
In for HM!
In NM HM
I should be able to play, put me down as an alt. NM or HM for me.
Let's try hard mode again this week, and see how far we can get!
Roster: Ra Darkman, OldnAchy, DatBasementCat, Duke12, gmantx, myself
Alternates: DEEP_NNN, Hammerdrake
Let's go all the way to beating Oryx! Will be in as Hunter with Shadowshot super.
Word of warning once you reach Oryx and plan to run Touch of Malice and two bubble titans: after today's update, Touch of Malice will now remove Blessing of Light.
Overall, not a big deal, it just means plate people will need to be a little more attentive to their respective Ogres.
Not sure how big a deal the loss of the two Touches will be. The worst case is the hard mode challenge. Which, by the way, is this week. So we can find out, if we really want to know!
This just means we'll be going back to the way we did it before folks had ToM. Plate people paying more attention to Ogres with their snipers and nades. Also, Sleeper will still melt Ogres - especially with a Weapons of Light buff.
You can still use ToM, even on hard mode. Just swap to sniper/heavy when your health gets low and dip back into the Blessings bubble.
Not that important in the grand scheme of things since many folks will be moving on to the new raid in a couple of weeks. It will be interesting to see what weapons will be most useful there.
I'm not sure if you're reading this from Bungie's perspective about ToM being removed from Blessing of Light perk. It is my understanding that it is applied to PvP matches, not in KF Raid.
From Bungie's Destiny Weapon Tuning webpage:
Touch of Malice’s self-damage infliction now removes Blessing of Light
It just says, "but ouside of the Raid..." and it implies clever players using Blessing of Light to avoid ToM's self-infliction pain, which mean in PvP matches.
I did used ToM in the Crucible matches and noticed that I was self-damaging myself using it against players, but slowly lowering my health bar. I didn't know about the Blessing of Light perk though. So I did not use ToM in the Crucible from then on.
"Touch of Malice’s self-damage infliction now removes Blessing of Light." Period. The change is universal. Blessings will be removed when ToM self-damage starts no matter where you use it - PVE or PVP. The bolded statement above just states that people figured out they could use ToM outside the raid, for example in PvP, by dropping a Blessings bubble.
That sucks for Crucible players.
One of my main issues about switching weapons while fighting against enemies, like in a Raid stage, is a 2 seconds delay in loading the player's weapons/armor gears interface. Time is of essence and I need to switch weapons quick but I get annoyed with the slight delay in loading the interface.
Cheez, when I mentioned switching weapons earlier, I was talking about swapping to your sniper or heavy, not going into the interface to select another primary. As you described, it takes waaaayyyyy too long to load up the interface. There are opportunities to do that but not when you're in a hurry...
What I was talking about as well (below). Switch to sniper then back to malice. This worked for me last night when I tried it out as a work around.
I know what you mean. I sometimes have a tendency to switch weapons while in fight-mode - like switching one sniper for another special weapon or swap one primary exotic rifle for a heavy exotic one. Or use a green or purple ammo when necessary.
I for one will be glad to see ToM go. I don't like weapons that steal health/shields via usage and require another level of attention that I just don't have to give. It's just another example of raid specific weapons that muddy the sandbox for me.
ToM serve for one useful purpose in raid - only to take down the daughters, ogres, and Oryx.
Though, I recall from some discussions/speculations about ToM. It has another purpose - even more sinister one - to bring back Oryx for a future Destiny release.
I honestly don't really get the problem with ToM. The weapon is only useful in VERY specific situations, so it certainly isn't abused like back in the days of Black Hammer and Icebreaker.
I know some people were using it to burn through CoE when certain modifiers were in place, but it's never been a popular or versatile weapon. That's why I'm wondering if this more about future-proofing content than current issues.
I tend to agree. I use this only in the Raid. We will definitely have to adjust tactics. I can verify what Blam said above though that one can do a quick weapon switch when popping in the bubble with low health and switching back when popping out. Just have to get proficient at that since on HM the plate holders should be focusing on adds and bomb eaters. Not that big a deal on NM.
Bottom line, raiders don't get rid of that Malice just yet. Even if you go to another weapon for the Ogres, the Malice should still be the go to weapon for the Sisters and Oryx's big white belly while in the aura of invincibility!
Touch still works fine for the Ogre's as you can still get the buff from bubble, just have to watch your life to make sure you don't kill yourself. We ran the whole raid and here you can see me using it towards the end of the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pwZEtq1mD4
BLAM, "universal", you say? :D
Umm... Yeah. SoulTerror's description is consistent with the change to ToM.
Ra Darkman, OldnAchy, DatBasementCat, Duke12, gmantx, and myself (Krak64) ran the hard mode raid tonight. Sadly, we got stuck on the Warpriest, almost bringing him down twice but never quite making it. Still fun though! We can try again next week if that's the consensus, and then on to Wrath of the Machine!
