King's Fall Raid, Fri, Apr 15

Sign up here for the King's Fall raid on Friday, Apr 15 at 9pm Eastern/ 6pm Pacific. No raid experience necessary, but you should be at least 300 light and have a decent, high-impact sniper, like the 1000 Yard Snare for sale at the Vanguard vendor. We usually run for about three hours more or less. We will run normal mode this week, since this will be our first run after the April Update, and the light levels on the loot (and probably of the adds) will be increased. If you need to change plans, we understand, but post here again as soon as possible so we can find a replacement. If there are already five participants, please consider signing up as an alternate. Stuff happens, even at the last minute.

crying  Switch me from "In" to "Alt."  I should be ready to go by 10:00 if someone has to drop out.

Watching some streams since the update and the Raid difficulty is still the same - Normal is still "normal" and Hard is still "hard" - meaning the LL on the baddies has NOT changed.

I'm not sure but I think more raid changes will come via an update sometime soon. Might have seen it in a Bungie twitch stream.

On one of the streams they said that King's Fall HM would drop items up to 330. Then later they said HM would drop items up to 335 in a post-update patch. Today they announced that they got the 335-level fix into this update. Maybe there are other raid changes coming but that's the only one I remember them talking about.

Not sure what to make of the apparent fact that enemy light levels have not gone up in the raid, as BLAM notes above. See also https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/4ehdkw/kings_fall_enemy.... Maybe we should be running hard mode again? Of course, there is still the reduction in special and heavy ammo to be dealt with. That will definitely make the raid harder even without harder enemies, especially in hard mode.

I'm cool with doing Hard Mode, especially if some of us can get above 320+ by Friday. If we do Normal, I'll run one of my alts.

In playing just a couple of hours last night, I went from max Light of 315 to 317 - mainly due to weapon upgrades that I was severely lacking.

I don't see any reason to even be thinking about doing normal if the LL didn't' increase. We are all around the 310-320 range.

It's true that we'd need good rolls (320s or close) to benefit from normal. However, keep the ammo situation in mind: https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/4el0jb/im_completely_ou...

Reduction in ammo was noticeable last night in hard mode. It made the Totems and Warpriest more difficult (stopped at Golgoroth, wasn't too bad). If you guys are comfortable with hard mode, go for it - the drops are worth it. Just make sure you manage your ammo and communicate.

I rolled my Titan up to 321/322 (depending on weapons) yesterday just by decrypting my saved exotic engrams (that actually worked!!) and getting several Vanguard/Dead Orbit packages so I am equipped for HM.  Running NM would possibly help in leveling up a couple of weapons or increasing LL for my alts.

Lower ammo levels will definitely be interesting.  Maybe that is where increased difficulty will actually come from.

Also, quick note about the raid challenges. Completing the challenges used to always drop a max light artifact (320). Now the artifacts are still guaranteed to drop, but will not automatically be 335 - you will get an upgrade, but will probably be within about 5 Light.

DEEP_NNN, OldnAchy, Darth Tabasco, Soul Terror, Megatron, and Krak64 ran the hard mode raid tonight. Rough night for connectivity with plenty of lag causing problems. Nonetheless, we finally took down the Warpriest. Great persistence, guys!

Another good adventure.

My new powers didn't seem quite as deadly as I had hoped.

The reduction in ammo for special and heavy weapons also definitely had an impact, especially at the WarPriest. We had to play a little more aggressively to get ammo drops and that in itself caused problems.  As with anything else I think with a little experience we will figure out a way to get the ammo with less "stress."

An activity shouldn't be difficult just because you don't have ammo for your weapons. There were times ammo was plentiful and then times where I would be out of almost everything...not good.

The raid is still challenging enough for most of us without the added headache of having to search for ammo boxes or trying to hide in the middle of an encounter to use a synth.

I'm just disappointed at how much changes, mainly adopted for Crucible, are having a negative impact on the PvE.

Ran Totems and Warpriest a second time yesterday, and almost didn't notice the difference in special drops, wasn't an issue.

We still are very experienced in Hard Mode. If you have to repeat areas numerous times - like us - you'll probably notice a difference.

My only point is that folks will adjust to the difference after awhile, and soon enough it won't be an issue.

I can see where there might be an issue with the left (3rd floor) and right (2nd floor) areas in seeing ammo drops because most of the kills are left and right of the WarPriest.  Ground level is not a problem because of the number of adds that coming pouring out.  Even so I found myself loading special synths every other round or so.  When firing on the WarPriest I generally unloaded all 14 rounds in my 10000 Yard Stare and if there weren't special synths lying around, well...

As with all things I think as our inexperienced group runs more iterations of this then we will become more proficient in ammo utilization.

I do agree that Bungie went a little overboard this time in weapons (ammo) tuning.  I guess that is where the "harder" part comes in.  If one wanted to tune Crucible by reducing ammo then the timing of special and heavy ammo chests could easily be expanded so that the ammo is less available AND would leave POE alone.

This approach to tuning may well push newer and less experienced players away from the raid, which for me is the best part of the game.
