What if.... there's such an uproar over the non-progression of legendary stuff that B changes their mind sometime after 9/9/15? If they did, and you already deleted your good legendary stuff, you're screwed. I did this with a couple Red Death pulse rifles last fall. In the beginning, pulse rifles were crap, and to make room for other stuff in the vault, I deleted the RDs I had. Then.... B made pulse rifles work. Fire truck...

I plan to keep at least one example of the great legendary guns (i.e. Fatebringer) and gear for a couple of months at least. I don't know what will happen to the Vex/Cabal/Hive/Fallen specific HoW PoE armor I've accumulated. Hoping it'll still be relevant in the PoE for a while.

What will happen to gun drops in VoG and CE raids? I've completely stopped doing those raids since I learned legendary guns/gear won't progress. Other than to complete the year-one nameplate requirements, I don't know of very many others doing the raids either. Going forward, there's not a lot of replay-ability in the raids if the guns aren't any good. Did Bungie really plan on keeping the platform specific hold-backs for a full year, then give them to Xboxers just as the guns/gear are made worthless? Really?.....

It's like Bungie didn't think things through... Or, did they?

I have heard that the gun folks at Bungie were apoplectic over the legendary guns - when nearly everyone kept/ascended/preferred their old raid guns over the new HoW stuff. And that, the theory holds, is what's driving the legendary obsolescence - a temper tantrum. Personally, I think Bungie is doing this to allow brand new folks to have guns & gear equal to the year-one folks in just a couple of weeks after the release of TTK. This, I've heard, allows new people to be happy buying the game and not feel they missed out. And, that's why Bungie originally/only planned on selling TTK with all of the old content, even to first year veterans.

For those of us who have more or less maxed out our end game levels in armor and weapons I can see the air rushing out of the balloon for raiding and such, but as I have said before there are many players out there still leveling up.  The simple walk thru I did on how to solo the VOG door is over 5000 hits now and is getting 30 to 40 a day.

I do believe that one wants to be maxed in light level when TTK drops and also be maxed in Vanguard, Crucible, and Faction marks, as well as having mucho Motes of Light and Strange Coins to help in getting and leveling the new weapons and possibly armor.  Hopefully the radient and ascendent materials will also have some value.

I don't think Bungie gun creators were enraged. I think their gun creation path has been planned out to last for years. Bungie says it is a  10 year game. How do you provide frequent content updates and expect people to buy into them? Maps, story, campaign, raids, armour and weapons have to be refreshed.

I.E. Bungie has day one guns, DLC 1 guns, DLC 2 guns, Major DLC  guns, DLC 3 guns etc. Each step could have been planned like so. Bland, enhanced bland, colour enhanced bland, interesting, enhanced interesting and colour enhanced interesting. Following this could be enhanced yellow , enhanced green and enhanced purple. The idea/plan being, encourage grinding by offering new designs and colours.

I'm sure they have to fix missteps but they've already said they don't agree that playing with the same guns for 10 years would be fun.

The weapon perks will also evolve but probably not as much as design.

Limit vault space, provide enticing new designs. I'd be surprised if this wasn't their plan all along.

I am very pleased Bungie planned a lot of this around the same engine. That's why we are getting so much new stuff so often. Imagine playing day 1 Destiny, getting a few DLC MM maps and then nothing for years. That's the horror of the old Halo days. I don't want that ever again.

Maybe they never had a far reaching plan. Maybe they barely got the game running before release and we're stuck with the results. Neither makes any sense to me.

Fool me once, shame on you. It'll be shame on me next time.

Destiny, up until now, has pretty much been a beta.  TTK is the actual release of the game.

Perhaps or maybe this game won't see a complete release until it's 10 year lifecycle has expired.

It's pretty bad when a Gaming news site has to tell us how Destiny's story works. http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2015/08/24/what-s-going-o...

Destiny is a game I like to play, even when it pisses me off. Thankfully it gets refreshed every 4 months, going by experience. I get a bit bored with it in the fourth month but the hype for new stuff carries me forward.
