Community Bounty Hunter 6/26 - Once Bitten(T10 Unicorn Prize!)

If you're not aware by now we have a T10 CBH this week with a chance at a unicorn.

http://forums.forzamotorsport.net/forums/thread/5530283.aspx

Beat Christopher's (MightMrDigital) time before next Monday and receive a unicorn. Poll voting has the Skyline R32 in the lead.

He also has a side contest. Tell him what your favorite feature is/was from any of the Forza games and you could win the unicorn of your choice.

As of this time his current best time is a 1:18.787.

Thank you to swhite014 and emezmer for having fast ghosts. I set a 1:17.548 last night, but challenged myself this evening to use the clutch and break into the 1:16s.

I followed swhite first and got down to 1:17.1xx. Then chasing emezmer I set a 1:16.720.  Thanks Guys!!!

Here's a tip for those running this...

Launch the car like it was a drag event!

Hold ~5000 RPM and let it drop to ~800-1000 RPM and catch there. That method will have you up to 2 full car lengths ahead of #2 ONR Virtuosity (it did a week ago and I dont think he has re-run) and 1/2 car ahead of #1 TPR Rayzer.

And don't bother with 1st gear once you are running.... just keep it in 2nd or 3rd and be reallllll smoooooooooth. That damn car is squirrely for sure. I hate not being able to tune. :(

I ran a 1.15.9xx dirty so I know I have more to get out of her and I will re-run it only cause I love the Top Gear track.. ok, I just love Top Gear so I have to run the track out of compulsion.

I hope he doesn't improve his time.  I don't enjoy running the track, and I don't enjoy running single lap standing start races.  The ratio of menu time to driving time is way too high for my liking, and is a major reason I don't do drag races.

Glad to see the back of this one wink

Yeah, I'm way off the pace here, I need to grab a ghost or two and run some laps (see Paps complaint above)...

But, I'm not jazzed about the car, take it or leave it, sooo...

I want my M3!!!

I'm guessing he'll probably lower his time again before the end of the event. phREDESIGN started a side contest that if Christopher finishes outside the top 5000 he has to wear a fake beard like one of the OK City Thunder players.

Last I checked 5000th ran a 1:18.6xx.  3000th was almost a 1:18 flat. I'm guessIng that his final time will be around 1:17.8xx to 1:18.2xx. In the spirit of CBH I'd be surprised if he goes faster. He's not using the drag start technique Psyber described above which is worth a few tenths.

Find good ghost, follow Psyber's driving tips and hopefully you'll win yourself a unicorn.

Sorry guys.  I figured he'd stay in the low 18's today and then drop into the high 17's tonight.
If he's simply doing enough to keep himself in the top 5000 then posting a time that puts you under position 3000 may be enough.
As it stands now, position 3000 ran a 1:17.757.

Man I don't like that track and I don't like those 1 lap races.  But it looks like the Mine's car will be the prize, so I guess I will be putting some time into this one since I need that car.  I need to drop exactly 1 second to match the target time as of now.  I think I can manage that.  I only ran 2 or 3 times to get a time on the board so far, didn't know there would be a community bounty with unicorn prize for it.

He's now sitting at position 4619 on the LB with his 1:17.994.  IMO I don't think that's fast enough if he really wants to stay in the top 5000.
Here's the brackets by thousands.

Top 1000 - under 1:16.799
Top 2000 - Under 1:17.273
Top 3000 - under 1:17.592
Top 4000 - under 1:17.856

If he goes back out and runs a 1:17.7xx that'll put him back into the 3000's.

If you can get under a 1:17.5 you may be safe.
Ideally I'd like him to declare his final time by Sunday night to at least give the community a sporting chance.

I just went back and tried to beat my best time, which I set just a few minutes after they opened the event last week, but I just can't do it.  I know that I'm losing time around chicago and hammerhead as well, but I have no idea how the top guys get their cars to hold so much better than I can, especially at chicago.  Perhaps I need to run a few laps in hotlap with the telemetry up and watch my grip-o-meter to see where I can push harder.  I'm starting to feel like I'm hitting a wall talent wise (not just in this event) where I've reached my maximum potential in the game.

Glad to hear that my ghost helped you on your way Shaggy, that probably won't happen too many times wink

Time to heat is now a 1:17.822. He's just trying to stay just within the top 5000. He's sitting 4106th at the moment.

Emezmer. Watched your lap. Here's a couple of tips.

Stay in second after the first left hand turn as a over to Chicago and I lift slightly at the quick left before braking. I think you're carrying too much speed in third gear and can't get the car whoaed down enough for Chicago.

Same thing for hammerhead. Leave the car in third as you approach your braking point. That should give you a little better control under braking for the turns. Use second gear exiting. You  actually can get away without ever using first gear once you get going.

psybertech and I are both doing the same things for those turns. I use the MS wheel and I think Psyber uses the controller so you'll get to see the in styles.

lastly. Try Psyber's technique for the start. That should also help you pick up some time.

OK folks!  I set my final time to beat.

That moved me from about 4,800th place to 1,575th place.

You have 24 hours!Good luck!

Now let us never speak of the beard again.

Christopher

I guess he got tired of Sadioki's "Fear the Beard" posts.

Damn.. I put in some effort, but just never was able to pull a clean lap on that one.. Fun car, but she gets real squirrely when o're hard on the brakes.. Enjoy your shiny new cars for those who squeak out that time. :)

Damn, that sucks.  I put a little time into that one too.  I thought I would be safe with my 1:17.4 when he had a 1:17.8.  Bastard goes and drops almost a second with just 1 day left.  I couldn't play yesterday because it is both my wife's and my day off so it's usually husband/wife time.  I wanted that unicorn too.
