Get yourse;lf a copy of Rocksmith. It's a great learning tool.
Beautiful guitar! Concerning Rocksmith, have you played much of it? It interested me but I was worried about possible audio/video lag issues. I have HDMI to the TV but optical audio directly from the xbox to the audio system... not sure if I have too much going on A/V wise for it to work properly.
@demonhellcat, I've logged in a few hundred hours in Rocksmith. Most of the complaints about lag are due to people not setting up the AV properly. According to the manual, you're setup would be "good" but not "best".
Using analog out for the sound is ideal to eliminate the audio lag. It also seems to depend on your receiver and whether or not is is putting out a clean signal or doing some processing before playing it through the speakers. I have an MP3 input on my surround sound system and running the RCA outputs from the 360 directly into this eliminates all lag for me. It is just as responsive as when I plug into my amp.
Video on the other hand is entirely up to your TV, if you have a game mode and a low response time then you should be good. Having said that, video lag is not really a big deal even if you have a bit as long as your audio is good. The way the game works as long as you are playing in time with the music it doesn't really matter if the diplay isn't lining up just right.
If you already have a guitar then in my opinion getting Rocksmith is a no brainer. Best $60 I've ever spent. Seriously, no other purchase in my entire life has such an impact for so little money. Just be warned though if you do get Rocksmith you may find yourself no longer wanting to play anything else.
@Cotter, Best Buy has GHS Boomer 10s on sale today only, a 5 Pack for $5. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/GHS+-+Boomers+Nickel-Plated+Steel+Electric+G...
Thanx for the heads up Hadone, but I'm sort of a string snob. I only use D'addario XL's or those new Ernie Bal Cobalt Slinky's.
Mmmm, Cobalts. The guy I purchased my Wolfie from turned me on to them. After he tried them, he won't use anything else....now if I could only get the local shop to carry them..... May have to order them online.
Now I just need to finish getting moved into the new house so I can pick them up again.
@ Demon, I personally haven't played Rocksmith, but have friends who do (including hadone). This is a very good learning & practice tool for any guitarist. I'll plrobably get around to it eventually, but I generally prefer writing & playing my own stuff. Plus I've just never been much of a "structured" practice type oof thing. Being sel taught, I prefer to just keep fucking up until I figure out how to play what I'm hearing in my head. lol
That's kind of funny that this is posted here right now.. I've been wanting to get a guitar and Rocksmith for a while now... Just been needing the wife to get on board.. She's not on the wagon with me yet, but at least I know Rocksmith won't be a waste of time or money once I grab it.

Trying not to hijack this thread too much, but I wanted to throw this out there. Rocksmith will be available worldwide this fall for PS3, 360 and PC this fall and in September there will be some DLC available that adds Bass support. Not sure how it will perform on the PC, but if is is as good as it is on the 360 I plan on getting it for my PC. I'd be able to get a lot more play time in if I could fire it up on a laptop with a set of headphones on.
I think I'm done talking the game up now, now we can all get back to ogling of Cotter's sexy new Les Paul :).
Cotter I know on your blog you said this may become your main guitar instead of your Wolfgang. That really says a lot about the quality of this LP. Enjoy that beauty, I know I would!
Now we need a youtube video of you playing that thing!
Unfortunately, I don't have a video camera. I'll be doind some recording over the next few days though. I'll post up something on my soundclick page for you guys to hear when I get it finished.
@ Sherb...
The cobalts are indeed nice, I would've put them on the new LP, but all I had was a set of d-addario's at the time. I've gotta make a trip to guitar center & get some more.I guess I take living in Nashville for granted. You can find just about anything you want here.
Looks awesome fella
Wish I could play.
Its on my List though

Oooo, purty!
Yes, good old Rock'n Roll! Don't play too much, we would miss you here.
She's a pretty girl, always loved the tobacco burst. Used to have a Gibson Les Paul Custom in tobacco burst, a thing of absolute beauty...I miss it
This one's actually what they call an Iced Tea Burst.
Maybe tobacco is now non PC....Or maybe the color on my laptop is a little out....still a pretty axe either way

Sorry if that was a long winded response.

My boy wants to get it, but he wants me to foot half the bill...of course I'd be using his electric so maybe he's got a point...
That guitar is dead sexy, IMO. I've always like the look of that Iced Tea / Tobacco burst. Nice Axe, for sure Cotter.
Thanks for the feedback gang. I swear, I can't seem to put this thing down.
I promise that I"ll be back on Forza by this weekend.
Finally, something else to occupy Cotters hands...
I'll be back to kick your ass soon enough oldschool. :)
I think I'm going to do some recording tonight & see how this thing sounds playing back.

Nice ! But can you drive with it ? Just kidding !
No, but it will drive the ladies into a frenzy.
My Harley does that...idling...
Break out the hp-waders folks. The bullsit is getting deep.
I ended up having company last night, so I didn't get to record. Hopefully today.
